You guys fucking love lists so we’re giving you what you want: Listmania. In between our excellent Editor’s Best-of List and our community Best-of List, I assumed that we would be all covered. Not so! We know some super hip celebs in the music industry who want to share their favorite albums of 2014 with you. Unfortunately, Tay Tay still won’t return my emails or phone calls or text massages or letters or manifestos or boiled rabbits so instead we’ve got picks from Ron Varod of Kayo Dot, Jesse Beahler of Black Crown Initiate, Gary from Sea of Bones, and our buddy The Vomit Arsonist.

Ron Varod of Kayo Dot

Anna Calvi “Strange Weather” – Even when Anna covers a song that I’m not fond of (Tv on the Radio’s “Wolf Like Me” or Beyonce’s “Naughty GIrl”) the results are always amazing. So I’m not surprised that this EP of cover songs is just as addictive and high quality as her full lengths of original tunes.

Dama/Libra “Claw” – Beautiful and droney and even has a few really fun Wes Anderson movie sounding parts, but in a really awesome refreshing way!

Indian “From All Purity” – Really simple and nasty, like a whole record of the sludgy Converge tracks augmented by lots of noise.

Bohren Und Der Club of Gore “Piano Nights” – My first 3 listens I was snowed in the day before we did our first day of tracking for “Coffins on Io” so I’ll always have that really cool association when I listen to this record. Every time I listen to this record I find myself saying “oh yeahh” when that reverb-ey surf guitar comes in later in the record.

Pink Floyd “Endless River” – This record is a perfect final chapter for the best band ever. So what if the lyrics to the final song are kinda cheesy? It’s an almost all instrumental record of Dave Gilmour guitar solos and Richard Wright synth solos, so awesome.

Geryon S/T – I think this came out physically this year, really creative and awesome Drum/Bass Guitar death metal, best band in NYC right now.

ÄÄNIPÄÄ “Through A Pre-Memory” – This came out 2013 but I only heard of it this year. Dubin and O’Malley team up for a few tracks so it’s almost like a new Electro based Khanate record.
