Legendary Shaolin warriors/New York rap crew Wu-Tang Clan released a brand-new song. “Ron O’Neal”, which premiered live on the The Daily Show, is now available for streaming. Listen to it below!

The line “A better tomorrow” is sung repeatedly over the hook, meaning this track is PROBABLY from the long-promised 20th anniversary reunion album A Better Tomorrow, the first full-group effort since 2007’s perfectly OK-ish 8 Diagrams. If you ask me (and you didn’t), the hook is just awful. It almost ruins the song. Thankfully, Ghostface Killah comes in and saves the track.

Here’s my unnecessary prediction: A Better Tomorrow  won’t be anywhere near as good as Raekwon’s amazing 2009 release Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. 2.  I mean, just listen to this:

What do you think? Who is the best MC in the Wu? Who had the best solo album? Did I forget that this is a metal blog? Lemme know below.

(Via Noisey)

  • Howard Dean

Wu-Tang Clan aint nuthin’ to fuck wit’.

    • Negrodamus

I just fell in love with the Toilet Ov Hell ALL OVER AGAIN.

    • Dëpütÿ Dïpshït

Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nuthin’ to FLUSH wit’!

    • Owlswald

      Bring tha’ muthafuckin’ ruckus!

  • Mr.CustodialArts

    No Bill Ward, NO WU-TANG.

    • Dëpütÿ Dïpshït

      Period!

      • SMOHLG

        Period!

    • RuIN?

Shit. I almost lost my eggs!! No Bill Ward!!!!

    • KJM

No Bill Fuck = No Sabbath

    • Lacertilian

My list (including solo album work) would be:
      1. GZA
      2. Inspectah Deck
      3. Method Man
      4. RZA
      5. O.D.B
      6. Ghostface Killah
      7. Raekwon
      8. Masta Killa
      9. U-God

GZA’s ‘Liquid Swords’ is the pinnacle in my books, I think he’s the got the most intelligent & interesting subject matter/delivery.
Meth’s ‘Tical’ is great too, he’s got the big persona/stage presence (as with ODB).
      Deck is the most consistent.
RZA should be up there just for his early production work alone.
Ghostface & the Chef are great but I don’t relate to them as much, GFK too much religion & Rae too much mafioso stuff.
      Wu-Tang Forever.

  • Dat bevel/emboss filter on the skyline in the background. Next-level design right thurr.

  • W.

    Ghostface Killa 4 lyfe.

    • Negrodamus

      Ol’ Dirty Bza!

    • I live for his 10 Softest Rappers every year.

    • RuIN?

Seriously, his verse on Impossible makes a muthafucka verklempt. Word.

  • RuIN?

This album has so much anticipation behind it. I can’t wait to get it. One of my favorite solo outputs was Ghostface’s Fishscale. Crazy that it was 2006. This one is dope as fuck.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CClZTxwUzjE

    • Negrodamus

Swift & Changeable is one of the only hip hop albums I am still eagerly anticipating, that and the probably never going to happen long awaited debut from Despot.

      • Mr.CustodialArts

What about this Vince Staples kid I keep hearing about?

        • Negrodamus

I haven’t heard of him, but if he’s tight I’d check it out.

Have you listened to Your Old Droog? Lol that shit is Nas it seriously is what a troll.

          • W.

            You’re still convinced, eh?

          • Negrodamus

I am totally convinced. I have listened to it a bunch. I guess Your Old Droog is doing a show soon (like September? I’ll look again) so the world will know…

        • @fromwisdomtohate29:disqus’s son?

          • Fromwisdomtohate29

Lmao, I never actually heard of him either.

          • man i was so afraid the joke might get lost in the toilet

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

Since i feel i am amongst friends & In the spirit of full disclosure as well as having nothing cogent to add to this conversation because i no longer listen to or like rap or hip hop i will release this embarrassing and humilliating skeleton from my closet. I immediately bough mc hammer`s first album after hearing can`t touch this , bought a shirt AND pawned my radio tuner from my stereo system to get a ticket to a show. Oh the folly of bad musical taste. Keep in mind i was living in a vacuum as far as influence from anyone with good musical taste.
            Humiliation be mine name, hahahahahhhahah

          • i bet your humiliation tripled when you found out he became a christian minister!! sorry bro, listen to some Akercocke and everything will be good.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

There is an akercocke song with the lyric a hundred priests could not save my soul. I need a thousand priests to save my soul from the horror i committed , hahhahhahahhh

      • RuIN?

That appearance on Daily Show got me going. They are unstoppable as a whole crew. there are a few that can craft stories like they can but not many.

    • This was so solid. Also, big fan of Big Doe Rehab.

      • Negrodamus

I also really enjoyed Only Build For Cuban Lynx II. Grimy!

      • RuIN?

Another solid one. He seems to put shit out in bunches. I’ll die for you was a good song from that one.

    • Poop Mango

I loved 12 Reasons To Die and don’t feel like it got its due. I think most of that was due to Adrian Younge’s beats though.

      • RuIN?

Jeez Mango, this one completely slipped passed my Wu-radar. I will check it out and report back to you. Thanks for this! Woop Woop. Or should I say Wu-p Wu-p.

        • Poop Mango

It’s basically a perfect low-budget 70’s crime movie done as a rap album. I also have the comics but haven’t gotten around to reading them yet.

  • W.

Is that the reunion album that no one was supposedly ever going to hear?

    • RuIN?

There is a second on that is supposed to be sold to one single buyer. That is called Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.

      • W.

Ah, that’s the one I’m thinking of.

  • LÄMENTÄTIÖNS ÖF THE WÖMEN

    ..

    • Howard Dean

Perhaps the most apt stage name in history. Holy fuck.

    • A coal rolling toilet? You know how to get right to my heart.

  • W.

Joe, what do you think MC Ride is going to do now that Death Grips is dunzo?

    • $20K a feature to guest on Rick Ross albums.

JK. He’s a total weirdo artist type so I imagine he’ll jump into a ton of new projects.

    • HappyFunTime

I really hope he just doesn’t disappear off the grid. MC Ride is fucking awesome.

      • W.

Agreed. That would be a sad waste of one of the more unique rappers in the game.

    • Negrodamus

      DG 4 lyfe! BIRDS

      =(

      • HappyFunTime

Every time I see you post I want to listen to Exmilitary, and I’m super happy about it.

        • Negrodamus

I’m happy to hear that! Beware is probably my favorite DG track and one of my favorite hip hop tracks of all time.

          • HappyFunTime

I AM THE BEAST I WORSHIP

          • Negrodamus

I CLOSE MY EYES AND SEIZE IT

          • HappyFunTime

When that part comes on… chills man. So good.

          • Negrodamus

            TRIPLE SIX FIVE FORKED TONGUE

          • HappyFunTime

Takyon is one of my absolute favourite songs ever. But who can forget the immortal DG line:
            RESPONSIBILITY’S COOL
BUT THERE’S MORE THINGS IN LIFE
            LIKE GETTING YAH DICK
            RODE ALL FUCKIN NIGHT

          • W.

I CLENCH MY FIST AND BEAT IT.

          • Matt Damon

            MATT DAMON

          • Negrodamus

            plus that Charles Manson intro?

I’m also pretty partial to Lord Of The Game.

I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE

          • W.

I really like Artificial Death in the West

          • Negrodamus

I feel like we’ve had this conversation before W.

            deja vu.

      • Fromwisdomtohate29

I GOT SOME SHIT TO SAY…JUST FOR THE FUCK OF IT!!!

    • Christian Molenaar

Hang out for a month or two then get back together with the other two guys to release another mixtape, then go on a “break” that they never come off of. In that time we’ll get at least one new Zach Hill solo album plus some Hella 7 inches followed by a new full-length (and maybe hook up one more time with Chino for a new Team Sleep album?) before Spencer decides to focus on Solos/The Advantage. Stefan will begin selling his paintings to nerds on Pitchfork or /mu/, then maybe get a job as a janitor at a junior college, occasionally uploading songs to Soundcloud from a mixtape that will never come.

      • W.

That paragraph was a depressing roller-coaster of emotion.

        • Christian Molenaar

If I know them as well as I think I do, this (or at least most of it) will be frighteningly accurate.

          • Negrodamus

If it goes down like that you are the real Nostradamus.

  • Kevin Nash and Friends

Woooooo! I love the Wu Tang Clan! I’m sure Konnan and Ric Flair will be happy about this news!

    • Howard Dean
      • Kevin Nash and Friends

He’s the best. He does hilarious things backstage during World Championship Quad Tearing events, like that time we all got really drunk and ended up at a Burger King and Ric hit on the cashier he thought was a girl, but it was a guy with long hair. We also saw Jerry Lawler there and he was not pleased that we were there. He truly is the Burger King because he was eating a Whopper with his crown on. We all laughed at that.

        • KJM

Ric can’t help it if he’s custom made! WHOOOO!!

          • Kevin Nash and Friends

It was awesome that Lawler would actually eat food with his crown on. From what I hear, he wears that crown everywhere. Back when me and him were in the WWF and were friends the two of us and a few other guys including Razor, Shawn and Bret went to a concert when we were filming Raw in Poughkeepsie at the Orange County Fairgrounds. I can’t remember why we went, but the concert was Van Halen and then on the 30th of July we went to see Def Leppard there. I was also lucky enough to catch the Clash Of The Titans tour there back in 1991 as well as Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour and a Judas Priest show there as well. That venue ruled, but the concerts stopped happening back in 1996. The last show we saw there was Queensryche on their Road To The Promised Land tour.

  • Scrimm

I’m more of a west coast guy myself. This. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtSLh_VKZMo

  • KJM
    • Sight Vnseen

      Seconded.

    • Kevin Nash and Friends

All of us from the Kliq loved this album when it came out, Sean and Hunter especially. Probably the only one of us who listened to it but didn’t like it was Shawn, but that’s because he was into bands like the Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead and Phish at the time. To this day, I still have no clue why he liked Phish.

  • Mother Shabubu III

    I’m too white for this.

  • geddy

Shit…just shit. I am disappointed to see this shit here in the toilet ov hell.

    Bummer.

  • Further Down the Metal Hole

What’s this? Rap, on my metal blog? Imma take that exit over there —>

  • Ron_Deuce

Song’s pretty good. I could do without that crappy R&B chorus but I really dig the beat. Agree 100% on Cuban Links 2, an all time great hip hop record. Best MC in the Wu is a tossup for me between Ghostface and Meth.

  • Dental_Damnation

    Meth still got it

  • Fromwisdomtohate29

The obvious answer is The Genius.

But seriously him, Deck, and Masta Killa are my favorites.

Also this is a severely underrated album.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjqLUx7jxWU

    • Is it underrated? I always hear it’s between this and Ironman for best GFK release.

      • Poop Mango

Big Ghost says the Canadian version is the one to get.

      • Fromwisdomtohate29

Most people jock Ironman and/or Fishscale.

Meh, I’m not big on Ghostface anyway, so maybe I’m wrong. This was always the one album of his I kept coming back to.

      • Ron_Deuce
    • Ron_Deuce

      Supreme Clientele is tha truth!

  • Bert Banana

House of Flying Daggers is like my anthem

  • crazytaco_12

So sick of Wu Tang’s newer super clean, tired ass production/instrumentation. None of that raw feeling anymore and not really any experimentation with the beats. Listen to the weirdness on “4th Chamber” from Liquid Swords and then listen to this song, not even close.

    • Negrodamus

      Liquid Swords = CLASSIC SHIT

  • Ron_Deuce

If you are big into Wu Tang, check out Inspectah Deck’s project Czarface, very good

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2SrZfGsTzE

  • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

Mr. Fuckin`show is my favorite comedy series ever. I mean i love tim & eric`s scattershot approach ( odenkirk helped them out alot) but Mr Shows tighter skits and wrap around skits were pure genius. My favorite was crazy religious beliefs and the one that had satanists acting like christian tv preachers. David cross was laying in that bed and telling the audience to watch porn and do beastility. Then bob came out in a big fat suit and sang a praise satan song. It was just brilliant. Odenkirk has turned out to be a a great dramatic actor in his own right.

    • Christian Molenaar

As much as I love Tim and Eric, Breaking Bad, Arrested Development and just about all their other projects since, I think Mr. Show was far and away the best. So many of the more satirical ones are just as relevant today, if not more so, and the ones that are just straight up comedy are still hilarious. It’s crazy to me that essentially nothing on the show is dated, and no matter how many times I watch it I still laugh.

  • Renan Ribeiro

The Chef is my favorite. You guys gotta listen to some Action Bronson and some Mr. Muthafuckin Exquire

  • Renan Ribeiro
  • Misanthropic Anus

I feel left out, because I never really got into rap.
