Wacken Has Been Quietly Uploading Past Live Sets To Youtube

Moon Wacken over to Youtube.

Back in August, I posted a whole slew of live sets from 2016’s Wacken festival. Over the past few months, the WackenTV Youtube page has been uploading full, high-quality sets from not only 2016, but previous years as well. Wacken frequently sells out before the lineup is even announced, so this is a great way for fans who either can’t get tickets or can’t make the trip to still enjoy the show. According to the page’s banner, new clips are uploaded every Monday and Thursday, so make sure to check it often. In the meantime, enjoy a pile of sets from a bunch of different bands.

My Dying Bride

Red Fang

Vried (plus a few Windir songs + Dolk from Kampfar)

Battle Beast

Circle II Circle

Snowy Shaw (who definitely performs on one of those hover boards)

Henry Rollins spoken word

They WackenTV page also uploaded this clip from the band Mr. Hurley & Die Pulveraffen which is just something else and totally worth your time.

That last video is something else! A few of these interest me. I will have to check them out once I finishing shoveling the 30 feet of snow on my driveway. Fuck Eugene.

    • Rain Poncho W.

Would you say that being snowed in has you looking forward to wacken’?

      • GL

        OH MY PONCHO

  • CyberneticOrganism

Niiiice, another cool thing to distract me from work

  • Scrimm

Hopefully they upload sme good ones, HUEHUEHUEHUE!!

    • Howard Dean

For real. Fans take turns jerking each other off over how awesome this festival is and buy tickets before nary a band has been announced. And the lineup is pretty frigging lame in recent years, all things considered.

      • Señor Jefe El Rossover

I think its more popular for the overall experience. The getting together, camping, drinking beer, seeing people from all over the world, live music, hundreds of vendors and the general festival atmosphere is a big draw. And come on now, the bands haven’t been that bad. This year’s lineup has some solid acts announced.

        • Howard Dean

Yeah, most of my angst is probably fueled by my disdain for crowds and all-around dislike of metalheads and metalhead culture. I’d rather just go on vacation.

          • Señor Jefe El Rossover

            Hahaha, well there’s your problem!

          • Howard Dean

This probably sounds crazy coming from a dude who frequents metal blogs and forums, but one of my worst fears is being stuck at a giant metal festival with a bunch of metalheads. I’d rather be five miles down the street eating barbecue and staying at the Marriott.

          • Señor Jefe El Rossover

Nah, that’s completely understandable! Different strokes for different folks, makes the world interesting.

          • Óðinn

Yeah. Not everybody likes camping out with a bunch of smelly music fans in dirty conditions. Plus, rank and file metalheads can be annoying sometimes. I don’t go to as many live show as I used to.

          • TheGranulatingDarkSatanicMilfs

Add to that the fact that bands play shortened sets and quite often sound like shit because the festival is open air

        • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

Like most European metal fests; the line up is an equal mix of “great” and “suck”.

          • Señor Jefe El Rossover

Good part is, you can skip out on the suck bands because someone else that is good is probably playing at the same time!

      Edit: No they arent.

      • Scrimm

        Nice try

        • Señor Jefe El Rossover

They did play last year though

  • Howard Dean

Oh man, that Myrkur set. Derp.

    • Scrimm

      Yep.I actually expected even worse

      • Óðinn

        Me too.

    • Óðinn

Haha! He’s down the street at the Marriot, eating barbecue. 😉

      I’m joking, HD.

      • Howard Dean

Brisket, pulled pork, and moderately nice chain hotels. Boom!

  • tigeraid

Woah! I didn’t know Henry Rollins did Wacken. Bookmarking for later.

  • Waynecro

    This is rad! Thanks, dude!

  • Dental_Damnation

We have a Canadian version of that last band called Great Big Sea. I don’t really get it being from the west coast but those east coasters love them a jig with a pan flute

  • Óðinn

    Thanks, 365.
