This here is an open thread. Come on in and take your shoes off.

Things that are on TV tonight:

  • Baseball (The Marlins and the Pirates face off in a battle of who cares).
  • The Country Music Awards (take a shot every time you don’t know who an artist is).
  • America’s Got Talent (lulz).
  • Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Atlanta Falcons (this will actually probably be good).

I’ll be sitting in front of a computer going through a pile of work. How about you guys?

An important note:

I want to personally thank all of you for your support of this site. We get better everyday because of you guys. I would, however, like to request that you do not spam the comments of other sites with links to this site. I’ve heard some complaints and it’s rubbing a bunch of folks the wrong way. I want to grow the site legitimately and I know that we can do that together.
On to the nonsense!

  • Mother Shabubu III

Can we all bask in the noise and mountain-shattering embrace of this album please? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WJ5Du4z814

    • Raw

    • Xan

That is fucking awesome! It has the heaviness that a lot of sludge metal brings with the intensity I get from listening to grindcore.

      • Mother Shabubu III

I’ve described it to others as “Celestial” Isis with the added crushingness and monotony of “Nothing” Meshuggah”, with Dave from Anal Nathrakh yelling over it. Or just an even angrier, heavier Admiral Angry.

    • This is fetid.
      EDIT: Fetid is good.

    • Quarter Ounce Harrell

      shits just devastating.

    • crazytaco_12

This is pretty fucking great. Very droney, but in a way that I can appreciate with full force.

    • crazytaco_12

Definitely recommend the Disease Concept if you’re big into sludge, one of my favorite newer sludge bands https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m14B65sr90

    • NefariousDude

Thank you sir. Thank you very much.

    • dingus

      this deep-dicked my soul

  • Xan

I think I’ll probably chill for about half an hour and blast some music then play a video game. I’ve been trying to decide whether I want to play Bioshock Infinite, Metro 2033, or Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition first.

    • mustangbomb

Bioshock Infinite is good, but it ends frustratingly. Metro 2033 is on my bucket list too, I played it for a while a few years back and it’s fantastic. What do you think of DS, have you played it yet?

      • Xan

I haven’t played very far. I tried playing it with my keyboard and mouse but the PC port is terrible so I got a controller adapter for my 360 controller so I’ll try it with that later.

        • mustangbomb

That’s right, that’s the one where the developer says to play with a gamepad. That’s so fucking lazyof them. I similarly ended up buying a controller for Borderlands 2 based on the stupid menu layout, and now I can’t aim for shit.
I’m glad Divinity is getting so much attention as a PC-centric game, hopefully it’ll push devs to start coding for PC more respectfully. I’m sick of games (specifically good ones) having awful ports.

          • Xan

I didn’t have a problem with the Borderlands 2 controls other then having jack the sensitivity way up.

          • mustangbomb

Oh yeah, the controls are fine. I’m just much more at home trying to aim with a mouse, so I was a bit disgruntled about the menus being so clunky on kb/m. The controller is a compromise that I don’t want to have to make as a PC gamer, that’s what I’m saying.

  • Further Down the Metal Hole

Evening’s done, time for bed in central Europe! I spent tonight exercising and going through all the new music that’s been posted today. Had a great time!

Also, you have a typo there near the end. C’mon now, don’t be an Axl.

  • Gobshite

Been damn near shitting my 3 quarters trying to finish mixing a song to hand out at Bloodstock, which will be awesome (EMPEROR!!). It’s finally finished OR to the point where I hate it marginally less. Gonna kick back and catch up on wrasslin…….

    • old_man_doom

One of the best pieces of advice that I picked up from Kurt Ballou: “You’re mix will never be finished.” Mix it quick, first decisions are usually the best, and just let that little fucker out into the wild.

      • Gobshite

Great advice, Kurt is a friggin wizard.

    • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

Did someone say wrasslin? Make sure that I am involved in whatever you watch. Also, you should learn to tear your quads. I have been the Undisputed Quad Tearing Champion for 12 years in my World Quad Tearing Federation. Thinking about jumping ship to World Championship Quad Tearing as they’ve offered me massive amounts of money and a guaranteed contract with creative control. If you learn to tear your quads and you want to join the quad tearing business, I’ll make sure to get you a contract offer.

      • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

the original NWO wcw invasion. That shit was awesome. Better days my friend, better days.

      • Gobshite

Your legendary Stumblebomb on TNA and venerability to finger attacks is also undistributed. Nash and his quads = ratings!

        • KJM

Indeed. Who can forget the legendary “Finger Poke Of Doom”?

          • Gobshite

To be fair, Hogan IS the successor of Hokuto Shinken.

  • IronLawnmower

I’ve started a band that should be rehearsing soon. I’ve got riffs that sound like Motorhead and Bathory had angry sex without protection and the baby was raised by Vomitor.

  • Quarter Ounce Harrell

These is what im doing at work for all you car guys.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXEGp9c8PD8&feature=youtu.be

    • this video has 10 pixels.

      • Quarter Ounce Harrell

ya i know i’m about to start a crowd fund to get me a phone from the past 10 years. still got one of those flip up phones from 2005.

        • I’m not gonna hate. I had a flip or slide phone up until my senior year of college (2012).

          • Quarter Ounce Harrell

you remember these shit? things been thorough allot with me mover the years.

        • Detective D.

My buddy is a tech teacher and still has a flip phone, no joke.

          • Quarter Ounce Harrell

damn i would get a new phone but custom work car mechanics around here dosent pay well

        • KJM

I have a simple LG flip phone that I use as little as possible. I prefer not to take any gadgets out with me unless I have to.

          • Quarter Ounce Harrell

ya its better then being like the young kids I see always on there phones all the time like a addiction or something. miss so much in the world.

      • IronLawnmower

Back in my day we had 5 pixels to work with and thats how we liked it. You stupid kids don’t appreciate what you got.

        • greetings! welcome to the ToH

          • IronLawnmower

Thanks. I used to lurk on metalsucks a lot but now I’m here. My brain is kinda on the dumb tonight so my words may be a bit incoherent.

        • HappyFunTime

We woke up, three hours before we went to bed. . .

          • IronLawnmower

and had to go to school in the snow uphill both ways to earn 2p to pay for a turnip to share among the 16 of us and the donkey. But by golly did we never complain! Else daddy would beat us with a belt made out of foreskin.

    • car guy here… but where’s the COAL ROLL???
that your GTO? thought about getting one of them. u jam?

      • Quarter Ounce Harrell

ya its mine just installed a new roots super charger to work with my new garret turbo charger. and new corsa exhaust. pushing about 750bhp now. and oh i love coal rollers i have a Cummings turbo diesel swapped in to a f250. and gtos are a nice car to get just stock there amazing. and easy on the wallet for upkeep. since i work at a garage parts are 15% for me

        • LAMENTATIONS OF THE WOMEN

          Roll that coal!

          • Quarter Ounce Harrell

            will do!

    • A Feed From Cloud Mountain

Not a Pontiac fan myself, but I appreciate a nice Goat when I see it (well, hear it!).

  • Ted Theodore Logan

    WYLD STALLYNS!

    • KJM

      WOLVERINES!!!!

  • ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR JUST CRASHED ON ME AT WORK AND I FUCKING HATE EVERYTHING.

EDIT: Will be mowing my parents’ lawn for money tonight. Yes, I’m 24 and don’t live at home, and yes my parents guilted me into it.

  • Detective D.

Bowling league tonight and probably throwing back a couple cold ones..and of course listening to some metal…currently on the train and listening to 10,000 days.

    • OVER THE LINE SMOKEY!

      • KJM

        MARK IT ZERO!!!

    • KJM

Eventually, “Wings For Marie” will be a very difficult song for me to listen to because it’s my Mom’s name too.

      • Detective D.

        🙁

  • i was definitely guilty of trying to gather up more of our friends from [that site]. i never wanted them to leave it altogether, i just wanted their presence in the toilet as well. i guess if they wanted to join, they would have already. i went and back-deleted all my invitations to the toilet. never meant to be disrespectful; but i can completely see how it appears to others.

it all started with Reason, Honor, and Respect; and perhaps i got a little out of line.

    date with Rhonda Pearlman tonight.

    • Detective D.

I was definitely guilty of throwing it out there, but eased off. It really was to bring more of the people over that were regulars for discussion, not for abandonment purposes. There are some asshurt turdburglars over there getting personal towards Joe and JAG which ain’t cool by me.
Long story short, this place is awesome, I browse plenty of other music sites as well, but there’s only one home: the place we call Toilet ov Hell. m/

      • one guy thinks Joe isn’t nice. how does one even

        • Detective D.

That guy clearly nurses on his mother’s tit at the tender age of 34, when he finds the time to break away from cellar dwelling, and stops harassing his dog with peanut butter.

    • I think it was funny for a while and I’m really glad that we got some of our friends from the other site to join us. I think it just got a little carried away.

    • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

scream queen of the day – caroline munro – star of dracula 72 AD , sinbad, starcrash & most importantly Maniac with joe spinell (1980)

      • Scrimm

She’s gonna be at monsterpalooza in California this year, along with the phantasm cast. I am so going. Also Carolyn Burns from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre died.

        • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

I just watched maniac again last night. Never been to a convention, wish i could though.
Here is a picture in her memory ( it was hard to find one where she wasn’t screaming, she was also in the lesser known classic eaten alive also directed by hooper)

          • Scrimm

That’s a good picture. This will only be my second convention. I shouldn’t be spending the money, but I am not about to miss what could very well be my last chance to see the Tall Man, much lest the rest of the cast.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

what was the first convention you went to ?

          • Scrimm

Mad monster party here in AZ a couple months ago. Guests I met were PJ Soles(Halloween), Heather Lagenkamp(NOES), Brad Dourif and daughter, Sid Haig, and Elvira. there were others but that shit gets expensive fast.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

sid haig is awesome, i always used to see him in really old grindhouse movies from the 70’s and he has always looked the same. hahhhhah. Hasn’t really aged because he always looked pretty scary. Same bald head and beard. Thats one thing rob zombie should be congratulated on, finally giving haig a part where he could shine. Elvira was always gorgeous, i saw some adult mags she did in the 70’s , smokin’ hot. Dourif just gets better with age. He is always the best part of any movie he is in. If i see he is in a movie i will watch it.
Here is a pic of sid from one of the 100’s of exploitation films he made in the 70’s. Guy is fucking ageless.

          • Scrimm

Elvira still looks good for her age. Dourif was just awesome, it was a true honor to spend just a moment in his presence. Sid Haig seemed a little tired of the whole thing but was still very nice, I heard later on that some people were taking too much time with him when others were waiting and I can understand how that would get irritating. I really just went since it was local and I wanted to see what one was like to see if it was worth spending the money to travel for the Phantasm reunion. It was.

      • Mon*Star

Munro was also super hot in the ridiculous ‘At the Earth’s Core’.

      • Lacertilian

She was brief but MEMORABLE in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ as Naomi.
Will watch again just for nostalgia.

    • Dental_Damnation

Thank you for showing me the way to your toilet.

    • Rhonda Pearlman

You call that a “date”? That’s good for a laugh.

  • Itching to get off work and go play some The Last of Us Remastered on the ol’ Pee Ess Foar.

    • you and NegroD have been talking this one up. is it surival horror? is it similar to Drake’s Uncharted? describe please.

      • Made by the same developer as Uncharted, but it’s survival horror with stealth mixed in. Amazing story, and surprisingly good multiplayer

      • Negrodamus

The close combat zombie action on the PS4 is so intense.

      • It is the greatest post apocalyptic/zombie/stealth/epic story game ever.

      • Xan

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fCV1DN6eBkI this video is a great representation of it. It is a story-driven survival/horror game. It would do the game an injustice to just lump it into a category. Never more have I wanted to protect a character than in this game.

    • Negrodamus

      I GOT THAT SHIT YO

    • I wanna get a PS4 so badly (currently have the AdBox 360.) All my dumbass friends are on XBL and won’t switch.

    • RustyShackleford

Shit’s fucking AMAZING. I played the first one like four times and i still Yep’d hard as fuck when i played this one. Beautiful/awesome game.

    • The Black Dahlia Burger

Just got to Fall, what difficulty are you playing on?

      • Hard. It’s hard.

        • The Black Dahlia Burger

I’ve just been doing Normal since I already beat it on PS3. I wouldn’t hesitate to put this in my top 5 all time though

          • I played on normal when I had it on PS3, but I wanted a bit more of the survival challenge. Was not prepared for how challenging it actually is, haha.

          • The Black Dahlia Burger

I can’t even imagine Grounded. There isn’t even a HUD, you literally have to count bullets

          • Lord Ov Kapsko

Can you please tell me is it worth buying the PS3 wersion although I know I’ll buy PS4 next spring?

          • The Black Dahlia Burger

Depends how much you want to play it. You can find it for like $20-$30 on ebay, so if you have some money lying around then go for it. It’s great, but the PS4 version is definitely superior.

  • HappyFunTime

Half an hour until work is over, then it’s a video game night. Any recommendations??

    • Hotline Miami.

    • IronLawnmower

I’ve been having fun with black and white 2 being an evil sadistic god. Then I’m going to try a Trigun run of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

      • HappyFunTime

Black and White 2 looks awesome! I’m for sure gonna check that out.

      • W.

Human Revolution is a solid game.

    • mustangbomb

Same here. Going back in time a bit to GTA IV – that game is fucking 6 years old already! But it still plays like shit. Thank you, consoles, for ruining cross-platform titles for PC gamers for a few years.
I dunno what new stuff to recommend. What system are you playing on?

    • Xan

Hotline Miami, Lone Survivor, Civilization V, Bioshock, and Metro 2033 are what I’m currently playing. They’re all quite good.

      • W.

I bought Civ V on Steam.

        • Xan

It’s a great game though lacking many desired features unless you buy the most recent Brave New World expansion. That adds a lot more into the game.

          • W.

I got the full edition during the summer sale.

          • Bert Banana

I started playing Civ V again and my biggest beef is not being able to convert cities with culture. That was my favourite feature from Civ IV

  • crazytaco_12

JOE! You’ve gotta post about Death to All touring the states homie! I haven’t seen any other site announce it yet!https://www.facebook.com/DeathOfficial/photos/a.462555763661.245452.396088683661/10153078940433662/?type=1&theater

    • Aaaand no dates even close to me.
      I is sad.

      • Owlswald

Closest date to me is Seattle. Everyone always skips Portland now.

        • crazytaco_12

I’ll be seeing you in Seattle!

      • JWG

I get invites via Facebook for most Vancouver gigs pretty much right as they’re announced, if not just beforehand, because a few years back I happened to meet the guy who’s now a major figure in local booking and promotions.

That’s not a brag. Note I didn’t namedrop. Just saying.

It pains me that most of them occur on dates I can’t possibly take off work to head over. This won’t be an exception to that rule, though I may just call in sick.

    • Quarter Ounce Harrell

god damn no were even near PA.

      • A Feed From Cloud Mountain

PA is always getting screwed anymore. We really need a hot venue somewhere between Philly and the southern NY border, somewhere like Stroudsburg. I’d even opt for out west like Williamsport, or north in NY like Ithica.

        • Quarter Ounce Harrell

for sure if your not in pittsburg or philly your prety much screwed.

    • Radical

      • W.

If this was like a week later, I would say that Dallas stop would be perfect for a ToH southern connection.

        • RomuluxX

ToH Southern Division Super Secret Santa Extravaganza Part 1: The Beginning

    • Xan

This is amazing. Obituary is killer and Death is my favorite band of all time. Massacre has one of my favorite OSDM albums. I’ve never listened to Rivers of Nihil. I’m really glad that they’re coming to Charlotte so I can finally see them.

      • Lacertilian

Go and listen to Rivers Of Nihil.
        Don’t muck around.
        Quit your job.
        Abandon your car.
        Set things on fire.
        Scream at the sky.

        • Xan

          I shall do so promptly.

        • crazytaco_12

Almost sounds like you’re just listing metalcore band names

        • Lord Ov Kapsko

They should call themselves Rivers Ov Nihil. That would be cvte.

      • Flushgod Apocalypse

I’m thinking I might make the drive to Charlotte for this. My birthday is on the 22nd, but I think it’d make a damn sweet early present!

      • crazytaco_12

        I’s stoked!

    • RomuluxX

No Rivers or Obituary in Dallas. Just gonna go cut myself now

      • Lacertilian

At least you don’t have to fly across the Pacific Ocean and take out a bank loan to get to this (or any other decent show).
Hop in a vehicle of your choice and get shit done.

        • RomuluxX

Gotta go find a batmobile somewhere

    • Detective D.

I can’t wait to finally experience one of these; going on calendar immediately. m/

      (Zero flushes, madafaka)

  • JWG

I promise never to spam the link to this site on other blogs.

I’d do it on social media instead, but I don’t really have much of an appropriate audience there. I’ve all but given up on Facebook use, as all my connections are former work and school colleagues who don’t share my interests in the slightest bit.

And most of my recent Twitter use has been to promote Indie Horror projects on Kickstarter and IndieGogo. Maybe if you guys made a short film (in which a contributor died messily) I could retweet it…

  • Owlswald

I’m positive that I’m late to this party but has anyone checked out the latest Winterfylleth track? I really dig it. http://candlelightrecordsusa.bandcamp.com/album/the-divination-of-antiquity

  • KJM

I’m celebrating the blu-ray release of Twin Peaks by watching some.

    • crazytaco_12

Nice man, I’ve been rewatching the series as well. Have you gotten to any of the new bonus features yet? I don’t have a blu ray player so tough shit for me I suppose (hope they release it on DVD).

      • KJM

I haven’t seen the in-character interviews yet, but I have seen “The Missing Pieces” which is 95 minutes of “Fire Walk With Me” deleted scenes which is excellent and has new storyline info.

        • crazytaco_12

          *drools*

        • I want it.

        • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

am i the only one who was in love with sheryl lee ?
She was super hot in Carpenter’s vampires too. Reminds me a bit of sheri moon here, only sheryl can act.

      • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

its been on dvd for ages, you can pick it up cheap on ebay.

        • crazytaco_12

I don’t think it has the same bonus features though. I’ll have to look into it more.

  • crazytaco_12

Hey, if anyone’s looking for some shit to watch tonight, check out Nathan for You on comedy central. Definitely one of my favorite new shows that nobody seems to know about when I ask if they’ve seen it; do yourself a favor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO8V72pDw1o

    • It really is next level. Big fan of this and Drunk History.

      • Drewcifer

Guys he majored in business and got really good grades. Just trust him. I’m in the process of getting on the level to watch Drunk History as we speak.

    • JWG

He looks familiar, and not just from previous TV shows Wikipedia says he was on (but I don’t remember him being on). I think it’s the BComm from UVIC. Back in 2005 I knew a bunch of guys in that program or the MBA, so I probably met him once.

…He also looks tons like the kid who currently works as the afternoon Business & Economics building Computer Lab Monitor. Maybe they’re related.

    • Lacertilian

Fucking funny show, I laughed my arse off at the first season.
This new series is just as good, if not better!
      Last week’s episode was ridiculous

  • old_man_doom

Just released a new album today. Going to celebrate it tonight. I had to take a break from my usual prog-sludge shit that I was working on due to a debilitating lack of inspiration, so I recorded a totally random scifi synth-rock LP (like Zombi, Steve Moore, Goblin). I only worked on it for a month and I’m really proud of it. My inspiration seems to be refreshed, so now I can get back to writing songs for my prog-sludge heaviness. I will never underestimate the power of taking a “break” again.

    • Christian Molenaar

Link me to both of these please!

      • old_man_doom

I present my work to the toilet community: http://oldmandoom.bandcamp.com/album/a-fantastic-voyage

        • Christian Molenaar

These are some serious jams, will download all of this when I have the chance. I take it you’re from Murrieta?

          • old_man_doom

Yessir, but I’m in San Luis Obispo for school at the moment.

          • Christian Molenaar

            …how could you forsake us…

          • Christian Molenaar

(not that I live in or even particularly care for Murrieta)

        • W.

I’m peepin your stuff now. Que interesante.

        • W.

Dead Horse is a great track.

          • old_man_doom

            Thank you, Mr. President.

        • Xander Crews

Dude, Satellite of Love is amazing too. Got BLAZED and just zoned on it. I’m diggin it like a ditch man, great stuff.

          • old_man_doom

            Dig on, brother. Dig on!

          • Lord Ov Kapsko

            Stoner sense tingling…

        • Drewcifer

I thoroughly enjoy this sir. Dead Horse branged the heavy.

    • geddy

      BRAVO!

  • B00mhauer

I post on the Metal-Archives a decent bit. Are you comfortable with me linking the sight in my sig? Can’t see why you wouldn’t be but I wanna make sure.

    *ahem*

    Tellyewhat. Yo.

Are the mods there as elitist as I think they are?

        • IronLawnmower

Yep. the place is also obsessed with black metal.

        • Howard Dean

You need to stay on topic, know your shit, know where to post things, etc. It can be annoying sometimes, but it’s just an extremely distilled (and therefore potent and sometimes harsh) online metal community. And I wouldn’t say they are obsessed with black metal. Black metal gets discussed a fair bit (probably more than other places), but it’s definitely equaled at least by death metal discussion (lots of OSDM, BDM, “caverncore”) and complimented by a hefty chunk of doom/sludge, thrash, power, and traditional metal discussion (probably one of the larger/strongest power and traditional heavy metal commenting cohorts around).
I may be biased. I’ve always loved the metal-archives.

This site is much better for finding new bands or learning they’ve released material, the article the told me Lantlos had new stuff was much appreciated

      • Bert Banana

I didn’t read the article but thanks for reminding me that I need to listen to the new Lantlos. Much appreciated!

      • and it’s better for getting along with people in the comments section!

I’d have to say one of the stronger points we have is the interaction of the authors on here with the readers in the comments section. Everyone can appreciate something like that.

//Listens to the new Nicki Minaj single for the 12th time

      • W.

Joe, I’m usually with you on the girly pop, but I can’t stand Nicki.

        • That’s understandable. A lot of the things she does are straight up annoying. Her new single is called “Anaconda”. It riffs on Baby Got Back. As a white nerd, I cannot deny it.

          • I love eighties sugar-coated AOR hard rock. I wanna do a Can’t Flush This! for Aldo Nova’s S/T debut but I’m pretty sure I’d lose almost everyone here and the crickets would be chirping their asses off in the comments haha.

          • Do it! I think a lot the whippersnappers around here would be curious. I’ve never even heard of Aldo Nova so I’m interested.

          • It’s not really metal and sounds a bit dated now. Aldo’s guitar solos are metal as fuck IMO.

I’m definitely cooking one up for that record I just posted on my Hipstergram account. One of my all-time favorite albums featuring my all-time favorite guitarist 🙂

          • Max

Don’t be so sure about that, Jay; I’d willingly chill with the crickets. ’80s yacht rock has its moments. I’ve always been partial to “No Lookin’ Back” (The Michael McDonald version, not the Kenny Loggins one). And what about Charlie Sexton’s “Beat’s So Lonely”? Add some more guitar to that and it’s basically “Locked In” from Turbo.

          • Check out/revisit Aldo Nova’s debut if you haven’t already. He did that whole album himself in 1982. All the instruments (except the drums, I believe.) He produced it and everything. I think the only song that is sub-par on the whole record is “Hot Love.” (Stay away from the remaster though. I have the original Canadian and Japanese pressings on LP but the eighties CD sounds ok too. You just have to turn it up a little more to compensate for some lack of bass…typical of many tinny-sounding CDs before 87 or so. “-Audiophool-JAG” lol.)

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

just no loverboy, when they won best album over moving pictures at the juno awards a 12 year old boy lost faith in the world.

          • Moving Pictures is a fantastic album. Loverboy’s had a few memorable tunes but they have no memorable complete albums. Moving Pictures is a stone cold classic up there with the best HR and metal albums of all time.

          • Bert Banana
          • KJM

            Loverboy has always sucked.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

that album is the shit, so is subject. He is canadian so he was even bigger up here. It’s been brought up before but bon jovi pretty much stole nova’s sound for the first bon jovi album. Fantasy is a song i never get sick of. I also like monkey on your back. I used to like hardline and bad english too so i am in the dog house too.
At least bon jovi supported nova in his attempted comeback with blood on the bricks. That was a pretty good song too. I think he wrote a bunch of huge hits for celine dion and is doing pretty good financially with royalties.
Also am a huge joe lynn turner fan and officially the only person who enjoyed masters and slaves.

          • I have Subject on vinyl as well. Sounds glorious. I still need a vinyl Twitch though…eyeballing a sealed Dutch pressing right now. I’ve honestly never heard Blood on the Bricks but need to check it out after all these years.

Bon Jovi wasn’t bad at first. They just made the mistake of always putting him on the covers of metal mags in the eighties. He didn’t belong there any more than Night Ranger or Aldo. It’s pop-oriented hard rock. I actually still have a copy of New Jersey. Back in the eighties I never copped to liking Bon Jovi and had to hide that tape when my thrasher friends came over haha.

          • KJM

Can you live this fantasy life? ^_^

          • Max

Anyone wanna hook me up with some decent synth/dream pop or some good new wave?

        • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

i like missing persons & berlin for 80’s new wave. Surprise ! they are fronted by attractive blonde singers. I have always had a weakness for that. I think lady gaga ripped off a few ideas from missing persons lead singer dale bozzio

Another 80’s B classic. Love the theme music. The remake was so fucking bad.

      • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

are you talking this remake ? it had this super hot chick in it right. Diora baid, she was in texas chainsaw the beginning as well. What did you think of the texas chainsaw 3d. I only saw it in 2d, the main girl alexandria daddario was super hot so it was fine with me ! It was kind of cool they finally made leatherface into an anti hero as well, i was really cheering for him at the end when the girl throws him the saw and says ” do your thing cuz ” . The family bond is strong even when your cousin is a monster.

        • Scrimm

Yeah that one. Even hot chicks and boobs couldn’t save it.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

I don’t remember ANYTHING about it except ms. Baird (maybe ms. Bared is more appropriate) Nothing else. That 3d remake of night of the living dead left a lot to be desired too. Even sid couldn’t save that mess. I don’t know what the deal is with george romero lately either. The last good dead movie he released was Land of the Dead in 2005 with dennis hopper. After that he has been regularly releasing way , way , below par product that goes straight to video. I think a couple of them are completely found footage and hand held camera films as well. I hate those kind of movies with a passion so i couldn’t even watch them. Then i tried to watch the latest installment and it was shot like a regular movie but had horiible CGI graphics so when a zombies head got shot off it looked beyond fake. This guy is a legend but i think his day his past. The same with my hero argento , he really hasn’t made a classic since 87 and i don’t have my hopes up he will ever return to form. Of course he’s nearly 80 and still trying, plus his 17 year run ( 1970 – 1987) of great films is probably one of the greatest records of hits in the history of horror film making. John carpenter is another director who really lost his way. Mission to Mars is the one that broke the camels back for me.

          • Scrimm

I hear you on all that. How the mighty have fallen. I just gave Carpenters latest, The Ward, another chance but it is only worth the time because of Amber Heard. Argento’s stuff almost hurts to watch now, though I thought Mother of Tears had a couple fleeting good moments. Oh well, like you said his classics are there and nothing can touch them. Those last two Romero dead movies are a joke, the only good thing about either of them is that the preacher that the characters hear on the radio losing his shit in diary of the dead was Stephen King. Hilarious.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

yea amber heard is pretty sweet, i finally saw mandy lane and it was pretty much the exact opposite of what i that it would be. Still i will watch just about anything with a hot young girl in it. Mother of tears was ok if i mentally separate it from having anything to do with suspiria and inferno. Just as the star wars prequels are dead to me mother of tears can only be watched as a stand alone movie. Still anytime asia argento is naked is a win for me.

          • Scrimm

            Exactly.

        • Scrimm

Continuity aside, I actually liked tcm 3d. But alexandria daddario is so hot id probably watch twilight if she was in it.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

now you are talking crazy ! Watch true detective, she has a full nude scene in one of the episode, that poor woody harrelson, it must be tough to do a scene with a naked girl half your age. She is all natural too.

          • Scrimm

I’m on my way to the store to buy it now. My drummers been harping on me to watch that anyway.

      • geddy

That remake was lazy in every way. Oh sure – it was brutal, but the CGI was amateur hour. I would love to see a remake with a good budget behind it. I loved the remake of Chainsaw Massacre – having Marcus Nispel at the helm would be grand!

In related thoughts: this is sad.

  • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

So, I’m trying to start this sort of Mystery Science Theater 3000 sort of thing but with horror movies. I’m starting with the terrible Hellraiser sequels going backwards from Revelations to the third one. Anyone recommendations for movies to do after that? They have to be bad horror movies that no one should have to watch.

    • One of my favorites: “Death Bed: The Bed That Eats”

      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385639/

      • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

I gotta do that. Maybe i’ll do the Amityville Horror sequel with the evil lamp as well. The Amityville movies get so bad over time.

        • I love the one with the evil lamp!

          • Kevin Nash and Friends

I know right? There was also one with an evil mirror and another one with an evil dollhouse. Those movies went downhill so fast.

        • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

the second one was the best with the incestuous vibes with the brother and sister, that was fucked up and disturbing.
I saw amityville 3d in the theatre. hahahhahhha, fucking shitty. It starred william katt who had done a couple of those house movies (first one was decent) & the tv series the greatest american hero in the 80’s.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

            great tag line – ” ding dong , you’re dead ” hahahhahhahahh

          • Scrimm

            I really like that movie.

      • Kevin Nash’s Powerbomb

I’ll watch it. It seems like a prime candidate for a choice.

      • W.

Joe, have you ever seen the MST3K episode for Manos the Hands of Fate?

      • geddy

HA! Gotta’ watch that one. Cheers.

    • W.

I really disliked that movie Teeth.

      • Kevin Nash and Friends

That is one movie I would never do. It disturbs me.

        • W.

I watched it out of morbid curiosity. No decent man should have to watch it.

          • Kevin Nash and Friends

Agreed. I’m going to be doing the first episode tomorrow at this link. If you have time, watch it live. It’s going to be of the movie Hellraiser: Revelations.

          • Steve Smithwick

I can’t lie; I actually legitimately enjoyed Hellraiser: Hellworld. Something about that party setting and the weird angry dad hosting it… man, I liked it for real, not even ironically.

I also liked Hellraiser: Bloodline. I’ve never seen any of the others.

          • CONAN THE MOTHERFUCKING KING

which one was set in space and a guy was telling his story to a woman ? Also the last one i saw hellraiser – revelations wasn’t up to par. Barker must have sold the rights to those characters years ago. Does anyone know. Because there is no quality control at all.

          • Kevin Nash and Friends

Conan, Barker had nothing to do with Revelations and Doug Bradley did not play Pinhead in it. The only reason it was made is so Dimension could keep the rights to Hellraiser. It was made in two weeks on a 300,000 dollar budget. Also, Bloodline is the one in space. I enjoyed that one.

          • W.

Ooh, you should do the Jason movie where he’s in space. Is that Jason X? It’s awful.

          • Kevin Nash and Friends

I’m going to be doing a test stream at 2 if anyone wants to watch. I will most certainly do the bad Friday The 13th movies as I have them on Blu Ray. For the moment, I will be doing Friday The 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan. Link is here.
            https://new.livestream.com/accounts/7003655/events/3250707

          • geddy

Jason X? It’s good popcorn fun.

          • Steve Smithwick

I think Barker bailed a long time ago.

Hellraiser: Bloodline is the one that has a space setting, but that one is about a few generations of game-makers, so the whole thing isn’t in space. The dude in space is the last one of the ‘bloodline’ though! All of his ancestors played and lost, but space dude was a champ!

In the most recent ones, according to IMDB, they’re not even using the original Pinhead actor anymore. I think the whole thing has become a really cheap cash grab, trying to cash in on the ‘legendary’ status of Pinhead as a movie baddie.

Oh man, going there now. I live in Pittsburgh where the man known as Virgil also resides, I think he’s a math teacher or something. Anyway, I have come across his table in a random public place just like on the Lonely Virgil blog and wondered to myself what the hell he’s doing sitting there all alone.

          • Mon*Star

Oh man, going there now. I think Virgil is a math teacher here in Pittsburgh, and I have witnessed him sitting at his table in the middle of town… all alone.

I’ve never seen Virgil, I’m lucky in that aspect but I did meet Tommy Dreamer at Taco Bell once. He has a wrestling school near me now and I met him at a Taco Bell before it was closing. Didn’t have time for a photo, but we talked a little. Also, don’t approach Virgil, he will try to sell you stuff of no worth that he has signed.

I disagree. He wasn’t the best in WCW, but he’s gotten better. I mean, in this video he did a Canadian Destroyer. Charismatically, he had very little going for him but I did like his feud with Kanyon over his mother. If you’re wondering, that feud was 2000 era WCW.

That’s all I got, but it’s the way it fits the wider context that got my attention: from what else I gather, drums were done near the end of June. Vocals some time in February or March.

So it looks like release information is imminent.

There ya go. Tis good that they do have the venues, but does no good if nobodies favorite bands go to these places 🙁

I think there was some kind of a discussion on the Blog-That-Must-Not-Be-Named about how bands should hit up smaller, in-between venues and not always the same ones in the big cities…I find myself agreeing to that sentiment but also understanding why they choose not to.
