I never got why people are so quick to use the “trailer park” tag as an insult. I can’t speak on the situation in the USA, but there are plenty of indigenous trailer parks in the Netherlands and I know several people who have at least family living in trailer parks or lived part of their life in a trailer park themselves. Most of them are alright.

        • Howard Dean

Like many other generalizations, the trailer park/trailer trash tag is pretty much just a negative stereotype that is used as a convenient broad-brush–usually as a way to quickly discount or de-legitimize something/someone.

At some point trailer parks became synonymous with ignorance, stupidity, immorality, and most recently, racism/bigotry. It’s of course an over generalization, as there are many good and decent people who happen to live in trailer parks who become “trailer trash” (and acquire the negative stereotypes) simply by association (i.e. their choice of home). It just happens that it’s presently considered a much more acceptable stereotype to use by most Americans (compared to other similarly negative ones), which is a bit odd, of course, since making fun of poor people or the otherwise disadvantaged is mostly considered a faux pas in other contexts.

          • Jack Rabbit

Is it weird that trailer parks just make me think of No Country For Old Men

          • Howard Dean
          • more beer

Trailer parks always make me think of natural disasters.Have you ever put on the news and not seen a trailer park destroyed by a flood, tossed thru the air by a tornado, in the path of a wildfire, swept out to sea by a hurricane. Basically moving to trailer park means you will die a violent death at the will of nature.

FULL CONFESSION I haven’t listened to the podcast in forever (been working Mondays for like two months) but this is rad. Riley seems like a cool dude. I’ve also dealt with chronic pain so I see where he’s coming from. Also the album is just fucking awesome. Yep!

    • You can download these shits and listen to them at your leisure

      • Joaquin Stick

I use this not so good app “BeyondPod” (I’m in too deep to start using a new app at this point) and it’s even on there!

        • Dumpster Lung

“in too deep to start using a new app”

hahaha, I absolutely know that feeling

      • RustyShackleford

That involves remembering to do it. Joe plz.

  • Leif Bearikson

I was informed last night that nagging lower back pain runs in my family and that I am fucked. Maybe Riley will sign my back.

    • Fine Sexy Ladies

I fucked something in my back in the beginning of the month and it’s only just getting to where it only mildly aches like a mother fucker.

  • Primordial Chaos
  • Waynecro

    Awesome show, gents! Thanks!

  • Lacertilian

Fuck, the codeine story is very relatable right now. I’m pretty much in Riley’s position re: permanent back injury, sometimes (maybe 3-4 times a week) you’ve just gotta take something for pain relief but I don’t enjoy the feeling, especially with the knowledge that opiate addiction can ruin lives real quick.
Tried a bunch of other shit that just does nothing. Maybe if cannabis would become decriminalised here we’d have a viable alternative but until pharmaceutical companies work out how to ensure they’ll hold a market monopoly, it won’t happen.
In the mean time, Power Trip will help quell the anger.

    • Howard Dean

If weed doesn’t get decriminalized, use the Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse technique of pain mitigation:

      • Lacertilian

Oh shit! He’s right. Thanks Zom Swayzosk!

    • Have you tried any physical therapy for your back?

      • Lacertilian

Yeah, physiotherapy was covered by work for a while, helped a bit but diminishing returns after a while. Shit is expensive too.
Gotta get a less laborious job. In the meantime I’m doing everything right, you know, isolating my back to lift and make it toughen up using those violent jerking and twisting motions.
None of that liberal pre-stretching and bend your knees bullshit.

  • Dental_Damnation

I approve! I rarely even internet anymore besides podcasts and twitter tbh

    • DD, as a longtime fan of yours…. it’s great to see you here!

  • One of my biggest fears is being at a small hardcore/metal show like in the picture, right up front, and the singer puts the microphone out intending for me to yell the next lyrics, and I just…don’t know them, because I don’t really know lyrics to things. 🙁

    • NDG

You gotta show some form before they take that risk…if you are singing along then you’ll be a prime candidate.

Otherwise I’ve got two words: mellow out, man.

  • CT-12

Hell yeah! So damn jealous Joe, but glad a superfan like you got the opportunity to do this podcast. I like the new 15 sec skip option as well btw.

  • hot damn, this Riley fella sounds INCREDIBLE! i could listen to him talk for hours.

  • NDG

This is rad…what a great interview.

Also, Riley’s comments regarding people doing the right thing and morals, etc. reminds me of this classic:
