On this very special episode of Toilet Radio we’re shredding along with Max Gorelick and Jake Miller of The Mantle! Join us as we discuss the perks of being Kenny G’s son, getting custom cloaks for Imperial Triumphant, brutal death metal, Dream Theater, growing up on the mean streets of Malibu, and unintentionally getting Steve Lukather in trouble at NAMM. This episode is required listening!

    • You gotta listen to the episode!

      • Doc Torluv

Doing it now – but anytime I have an excuse to link Agalloch, well… you know.

      • Eliza

I now know how Agalloch is pronounced.

        • Black Smallbeard

im pretty sure that is not how Agalloch is pronounced.

          Agg-a-loch (loch like loch ness)

          • Eliza

That’s what I thought too. I have to investigate this.

      • Óðinn

Seconded. Toilet ov Hell Radio is mandatory. I’m going to listen to it now.

    • Eliza

I just listened to Ashes Against the Grain today. I miss Agalloch.

      • Doc Torluv

        As do I

    • Óðinn

      Fucking fantastic album, Doc Turlov.

  • Sid Vicious Promos

I don’t even want to know why you got Steve Lukather in trouble. He’s an amazing guitar player.

    • I got Steve Lukather in trouble because we have an ancient blood feud. It’s all explained in the episode.

      • Rain Poncho W.

Ah, the old Thrashnkill and Lukather blood feud. Legend in the old country holds that the Thrashenkilligans were peacefully sheep-herding folks making their living in the green hills of the rolling Coumbe country, drifting hither and thither like bedouins, dining on moss and the fuzzy fungus that grows on sheep’s dung that grandpapa used to refer to as “navel fruit.” Then one day the Thrashenkilligans accidentally grazed their sheep on Lukathburg cattle land. The Lukathburg ranchers took their sharpened steers’ horns and massacred 42 of the Thrashenkilligans. There has been war ever since. The prophecy holds that only a descendant of the Thrashenkilligan line, by siring a son upon a Lukathburg during a full moon at harvest time, can bring peace to the clans.

        • Óðinn

I love tales from the old country. Thanks. W.

          • Sid Vicious Promos

Here’s another tale from the old country. Have you ever heard of why the original lineup of A Flock Of Seagulls hates my dad? Legend has it when my dad saw the Go-Go’s at Madison Square Garden he was one of the people who started a booing chant that spread throughout the arena for the opening band. That band was A Flock Of Seagulls. I have to like them because of what my dad did. It’s my penance.

          • Rain Poncho W.

You aren’t from the old country, Begone, impostor.

          • Sid Vicious Promos

            This actually happened though.

          • Óðinn

Their former hair stylist now works for Donald Trump. True story.

          • Sid Vicious Promos

I could see that being the case.

          • I like A Flock of Seagulls. What did they ever do to him? Your dad sounds kinda like a dick.

          • Óðinn

They weren’t hardcore enough for all the Go-Go’s fans. 😉

          • Sid Vicious Promos

My dad actually liked them at one point.

          • Sid Vicious Promos

He hates the 80’s and all that new wave stuff. He’s always been a very closed minded Deadhead. He will not listen to anything that isn’t the Grateful Dead, Neil Young or Bruce Springsteen. He very rarely listens to things that aren’t those three artists. I’m much more open minded than him. He hates most of the music I like.

          • Óðinn

Wait…Your dad loves Grateful Dead, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen, but he’s also a Fox News viewer? Complicated dude.

          • Sid Vicious Promos

He actually doesn’t just watch Fox News. He watches CNN and MSNBC as well. He also reads a lot of different political sites. He’s a very complicated person.

        • Sid Vicious Promos

Of course! How else would this explain why there is only disdain towards Toto here?

        • Stockhausen

          Is this true?

      • Sid Vicious Promos

I’m listening now. Well I guess Lukather was in the wrong.

  • Sid Vicious Promos

Also the street of Greenwich are meaner than the Malibu streets. Just ask the Mean Street Posse.

  • Rain Poncho W.
  • Óðinn
  • Joaquin Stick

These are my people! They seem to have a hilariously opposite trend in musical tastes as me, but somewhere in the middle we like a lot of the same stuff.

  • Óðinn

He shreds when he masturbates too.

Great interview, Joe and 365. Thank-you very much.

  • Óðinn

I can play this, but I choose not to.

      • The Mighty Thorange

S.R.V was a fucking god. How fucking smooth is this! https://youtu.be/HMi2Hl8lCLo

        • Óðinn

Yeah. The way he doesn’t miss a note while playing the guitar behind his back is impressive to say the least. He must have had a guitar in his hand 24/7 for many years.

          • The Mighty Thorange

He definitely lived for the music. Also, speaking of guitar gods with battered to fuck guitars, it would a sin if there was no mention of Rory fucking Gallagher. https://youtu.be/4Xi56gup_2o

          • Óðinn

            Fucking talented.

          • The Mighty Thorange

Oh fuck aye. One of my all time favourites. I really want to know how both these guys got such good tones out of those beaten guitars.

          • Óðinn

They’d better have some good tones, or they will get another beating. 😉

But seriously, some old guitars were manufactured really well.

    • Óðinn
    • Óðinn

Have you ever wanted to see Tony MacAlpine “trade licks” with Jeff Loomis? Be honest. 😉

      • Sir Kookaburra The Based

        No

        • Óðinn

          Fair enough.

  • Waynecro

Awesome show as usual, my dudes! I’m really digging The Mantle. I’ve been listening to it a lot since I heard about it on the TovH, and it’s definitely a good time. I also like Chon.

  • Waynecro

One time, at the NAMM show, I gave Dino Cazares from Fear Factory an industrial-grind album I recorded with some pals.

  • Óðinn

Keep an eye out for these things, just in case some of them start to happen.
