Toilet Radio Talks Aging Gracefully with 36 Crazyfists

In his first solo interview for Toilet Radio, 365 Days of Horror sits down with vocalist Brock Lindow to talk about 23 years of 36 Crazyfists. Join as they talk about the band’s Alaskan legacy, being a working dad, what Brock learned from writing Lanterns, the emotional weight of losing a parent, and hockey. Lots and lots of hockey. Listen to 365 do his very best to not fanboy over a band he’s loved for many years while their vocalist describes the subtle flavor difference between moose and reindeer. Joe forgot his nice microphone but dropped by anyway to yell about Charlottesville and Dillinger Escape Plan for ten minutes. Feel free to fast forward through that and get straight to the interview action.

Music featured on this program:
36 Crazyfists – “Death Eater” from Lanterns (Facebook)(Preorder)
Of Feather and Bone – “In Battle There Is No Law” from In Battle There Is No Law: The Cvlt Nation Sessions (Facebook)(Bandcamp)

    • I assume that Scab is down to one member now.

      • Óðinn

Wait. I thought Scab was a racist band?

    • perhaps whomever in that band (who might have felt otherwise in the past) has/have decided to give up on hatred. just a thought.

      • Elegant Gazing Globe

I’m not sure I can believe it while there are so many Totenkopfs still there

        • you could be right. i just hope that the good in people’s hearts can surface… eventually.

      • Sir Ukkometso The Based

Waaaaait just a mintue. He was/maybe has been/might still be or might still not be a nazi?

        • Retchin’ Rites ov Karhu

He is. By all we know (and what we know is fairly recent), but this other feller is not. So the first feller may or may not be in the band, on grounds of them having recorded an albums and some EPs worth of material last year to be released later.
Which may or may not mean that this may or may not be a one man or two man operation as of now.

          • Sir Ukkometso The Based

Oh shit. I thought you were the only nazi around here

          • Retchin’ Rites ov Karhu

            Shhhhhh, don’t tell anyone.

Nein! Nein! Alive und vell living vith Eva in Argentina.

Ich have been lurkings over at Metalsucks but as zhat site ist full of poopy, ich have kommen Sie here fur Scheisse und giggles.

      • RJA

        I hope so! People change.

      • Óðinn

Maybe they saw the video of self-proclaimed tough guy Christopher Cantwell crying on the Internet and they realized that neo-Nazis are actually pathetic insecure losers.

  • Butt Face

I rarely come here but had to after the latest instalment of Metalsucks racism/Trump/other bullshit clickbait articles. What has that shit site become, other than shit?!

I guess their ad income is on the wain and need to post more clickbait articles in a vain attempt to reverse their fortunes.

    • Doc Torluv

Same here. I really like this site. The authors and commenters here are not only more entertaining but vastly more intelligent. Plus, the ability to have rational discourse without the posters insulting each other makes it a much more enjoyable place to be than most sites. There IS some occasional political bullshit and proselytizing, but it’s not off-putting for the most part.

      • Butt Face

Yeah. The only reason I look in on Metalsucks is the comments section (as with most I think) – the articles are superfluous. There’s some good intelligent, funny blokes/girls over there and I know a few of them are here too.

I’ll probably come here more regularly and should visit Metal Blast as well, as he seems an intelligent guy and regularly calls certain people out on their BS, as well as post actual metal articles like here.

    • I used to really love MS and I discovered lots of good bands from them. It actually saddens me to see it go soooo far downhill the way IMO it has. I still pay them a visit once a week or so but good god it’s tough to ignore all the bullshit.

When ToH interviewed Vince, he talked about how the Tim Lambesis saga basically paid their bills for over a year. I guess that’s it then – TMZ shit pays the bills, not super awesome underground OSDM, haha.

      • Butt Face

        Yikes! That’s sad.

…and goes to prove that they’re immoral, selfish, leaches sucking off the bad things that happen in society for their own profit. I always had that suspicion. It’s the only thing that explains the crap articles and why the comments section isn’t ‘censored’ as it would normally be – extreme opinions equate to extra clicks (thank god for adblockers).

We’re all trolls on that site but Matthew and Benny are the true king and queen of them all.

    • Óðinn

The MetalSucks comments section is just terrible. Too many right wing babies go there to whack their daily hateboners. It gets old pretty quick. People complaining that they hate MetalSucks, but spending a significant amount of time there each day. In the end, it might be healthier for people to spend less time there. I applaud your decision to spend some time elsewhere.

      • Butt Face

…and left wing ones too. We all have different opinions but the best of us (left, right, up, down – I think most of us are middle ground) prefer to discuss rather than call people names and generally crap on everyone who doesn’t agree. Mostly, I prefer to just be silly and/or listen to decent metal.

…and yeah, I found it was getting unhealthy.

I did post on MS that I’d be leaving (not that it means anything) and got a few expected stupid and unimaginative comments. I giggled.

        • Óðinn

I used to spend a lot of time there too. I only show up occasionally now. Maybe it’s just my perspective, but I think I’m better off staying away from there for the most part.

  • Ayyy. Congrats on this interview, Zombie. Will check this out later!

  • Joaquin Stick

Oooh, the 36 Days of Crazyfists show! Death Eater sounded pretty good, don’t mind some of that metal-core catchiness when it’s done well.

    • I was worried I was going to say “Brock from 365 Days Of Crazyfists” in the beginning.

  • There’s an outside chance I’m gonna get in to the Dillinger show. I’m not going to be that upset as much as I’d like to be there since I’ve seen them so many times.

  • I always liked this track by 36CF. Sounds like Glassjaw meets Snapcase.

    • xengineofdeathx

I was a big fan of their first two albums.

Joe, police’s job is to protect everybody, nazi, commie, whatever the shit. I know it’s fun to joke around about punching whoever you don’t agree with, even if they literally want to g*s t*e j*ws, but your country is split in half, what it needs right now is for cooler heads to prevail, not street violence.
