After a few weeks of almost no news, I have SO MUCH NEWS. Get caught up before you black out on green Bud Light this weekend.

Wormrot has a handful of US dates coming up in May.

Grindcore band Phobia released a new song, album out June 2.

This news is a bit stale at a week old, but in case you missed the new Pallbearer.

Full of Hell released a new song. Album out May 5.

  • Lacertilian

Seeing Marduk play this weekend, mostly by way of them headlining for a few other bands I’m super keen to see.
When I bought tickets last year I didn’t really investigate who was billed highest, just saw Ulcerate, Mgła, Départe, and motherfucking Gorguts all together, sharted my pants, hit BUY NOW, put on some new pants just to soil them again while twirling the old pants above my head, flinging shit over everyone at the 90th birthday party I was attending.
The colour and smell of the room did not change whatsoever.

    • Holy damn, that is a stacked lineup.

    • NDG

I thought about going to this but motivation was low. Instead I will be seeing these guys at the Torquay Hotel. It will make a nice change being able to walk home from a gig.

      • Lacertilian

Living within walking distance of a venue would be mad, I’m a good hour out of the city so most decent gigs are a fucking ordeal.
Never heard of those guys, local band? Looks like a 10 beer minimum for entry, my kinda show.

        • NDG

Where are you located? I’m out near Torquay so any gigs are either in Geelong (30min drive away) or Melbourne (1hr 30min).

Yeah, Warped are from Geelong. They have been around for a long time. I saw them for the 1st time on my 16th and I am now 41. They started the band when they were 11-12 years old. The guitarist with the long hair is a good mate of mine and we played in a band together for years. He joined in the early 2000s. They aren’t very active these days but they are always fun to see.

          • Lacertilian

            Up near Sydney mate.
Haha, that’s cool, I rewatched Point Break a month or so ago, did a cursory image search to see whether or not they actually used Bells Beach at the end.

          • NDG

            Ha, they did not.

  • Señor Jefe El Rossover

Lots of news, not much for me to use.

Good work as always, Mr. Stick. Your vigilance is noteworthy.

    • Joaquin Stick

Sorry I don’t subscribe to The Dungeon Times or the Steel Tribune to get Boss-related news.

      • Señor Jefe El Rossover

Hahaha, I meant no disrespect! Not much news on those fronts either, to be honest.

        • Señor Jefe El Rossover

I take that back. Sequestered Keep has unveiled artwork for their next album.

  • “Remember, 100% of the profits from this album are going towards building a new sauna for Alestorm’s pirate ship!”

    • Joaquin Stick

HA! I didn’t make that connection the first time I read that. Pwnd.

    • Mosh Hoff

Weren’t you as dead as the Masterlord?

    • The Mighty Thorange

“Featuring the censored version of Fucked with an Anchor (so you can play it to your kids!)”

  • tigeraid

Archived Bolt Thrower?! OSDM NERD SQUEEEEEEEL.

For those who may not have been aware, Bolt Thrower has all their old stuff up on bandcamp, too!

  • Well, I just got back from seeing Dinosaur Jr in Toronto. Loud as FUCK but sounded amazing with earplugs. One of my favorite bands of all-time, so I’m glad we went to see them instead of Power Trip/Iron Reagan who were playing the same night but would have been great as well.

    • Unpopular Toilet Opinion: You chose well.

      • Señor Jefe El Rossover

        Hipster scum.

        • Et tu, Boss?

          • Señor Jefe El Rossover

It’s me. It was always me.

      • frozengoatsheadupanunsarse

Dinosaur Jr beat many, if not most metal bands.

      • TheGranulatingDarkSatanicMilfs

Agree. No disrespect towards PT/IR, but Dino Jr blows them both out of the water

    • RJA

I’ve mentioned here before but, the 2 loudest shows I’ve ever been to were Dino Jr. and Mogwai. J. Mascis is something on stage – long silver locks flowing in the wind, completely destroying the guitar, all while acting like it’s no big deal.

      • PostBlackenedWhaleGaze

Dude, I tell people the same thing all the time. Mogwai and Dinosaur Jr. are among the loudest bands I’ve seen live. I don’t know how J. Mascis stands so close to his Marshalls. Also YOB, Sleep, and Karma to Burn are in the same loudness tier. And all great live.

        • I assume J has like pro-grade hearing protection but I don’t know that for sure. Also, I’m surprised that Mogwai would be so loud!

      • NDG

True fact: Some of the worlds most epic solos can be found on Dinosaur Jr albums.

  • Mosh Hoff

    Daaaaaaaaaamn new Propaneandhi.

I wasn’t aware of the whole Lord Mantis / Indian drama with Charlie Fell until I read up on it yesterday. Sad!

  • I really want to see Wormrot on this tour, but I suspect adult things will get in the way because weeknight shows.

  • New split from Thorr-Axe / Archarus just dropped

    • RepostedAvengedSevenfoldFan2

these guys have the looks of Avenged Sevenfold but look like they rock like 3 days grace.

    • The Mighty Thorange

      That shit fucking rips!

  • Howard Dean

Will be interested in listening to that new Merrimack. Their ’06 album Of Entropy and Life Denial was pretty solid, and I remember really liking it quite a bit. The stuff I’ve heard since has been kind of meh. Not sure if that’s from declining quality or changing tastes on my part.

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Merrimack’s always been more decent than good to my ears.

      • GoatForest

Yeah. They seem like should be awesome, but they lack something. Kinda like Necrophobic or Valkyrja. They’re good, but not great. I would see them live, but probably not go out of my way to do so.

  • PostBlackenedWhaleGaze

Super excited for new Pallbearer. That Type O cover they did on the Fear and Fury EP was great.

    • Joaquin Stick

I’ve liked the few singles off this new album more than their previous work. Looking forward to it as well.

    • saprophial

That cover is a thing of beauty.

  • The Mighty Thorange

Really digging that new Pallbearer tune. And upcoming Alestorm? Fuck yes! They announced the tracklist for the album and one of the songs is called Fucked with an anchor!

  • Waynecro

Thanks for all this news, JS. I haven’t gotten into Pallbearer yet, but I really like that new song. The Without Waves song is pretty interesting as well. Also, MARDUK!!!
