TMP: Vale of Pnath, Cannabis Corpse, Ihsahn, and More!

You ever have one of those weeks where you’re not really looking forward to anything?  It’s one of those weeks for me. At least there’s some decent new music to check out.

Vale of Pnath and Virvum have some US dates in a few months.

Brandon Small’s Galaktikon project released a song. Album out August 25.

Aborted released a new Aborted song for Aborted fans. (TY Jimmy)

Leng Tch’e released another grinding track. Album out August 25.

Cannabis Corpse’s aptly named album Left Hand Pass will be out September 8. Here’s the first track.

And now, a dump of new music that I don’t feel like looking up genres for:

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Wonder if Embury’s actually gonna pull triple-duty on that Down Under tour.

  • Guacamole Jim

“Hey guys, we know you keep buying albums of the same song written over and over and over, so our new song is…. the same song we’ve been rehashing throughout our entire career!” – Tesseract

    • AndySynn

I was totally going to ask, in a semi-serious way, if that new Tesseract song was actually just ANOTHER re-recording of a previous song.

      • Guacamole Jim

I wonder what their writing process is like. “Hey fellow British dudes, would you like to write a song that has low tuned groove bits, EQ’d to sound like a farmer plucking barbed wire, with ambient bits over top?”

“Oh, you mean like what we’ve been doing for our entire career?”

“Exactly! And don’t forget the shit-tier snare trigger effect!”

        • “cause the kids love it”

        • Joaquin Stick

I think it was on Metal Injection but too lazy to fact check myself, they said something like “This new track sounds like old Tesseract” which is comically wrong and hilarious on just about every level.

          • Guacamole Jim

(Insert “how many levels of irony” meme here)

  • Fine Sexy Ladies

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Man new Samael is lamé, like a Solar Soul b-side that never gets half-as-busy.

    • Guacamole Jim

Yeah, I clicked on it, remembering the soft spot I have for Reign of Light and Solar Soul, and it just felt like all the weakest tracks on those two albums.

      • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

I’ve never really payed attention to Reign of Light, but Solar Soul is damn catchy and fun when it wants to.
It’s not like the last album was a masterpiece either, but at least it had grit.

        • Guacamole Jim

I actually think I prefer RoL to SS, but probably because I came across it first. Both are good, and very similar.

          • AndySynn

RoL is possibly my favourite Samael album. But I have a weird history of falling for the “wrong” album with some bands.

  • here is a placeholder for @Lacertilian:disqus ‘s angery react, since you didn’t know Execration’s genre: [___]

    • Joaquin Stick

Too many bands. Brain incapable of even remembering what genres I like, let alone the bands within them.

      • i’m not the angery one, i love what you do! but the lizard on the other hand………

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Liking Loviatar, had them mixed up with some far lesser pump because of the name. Odd that a Canadian band would choose a Finnish name, but I guess it’s not really any different from using Greek or Indian beasts and deity’s as a name. Just feels a lot odder hitting home.

    • Sir Ukkometso The Based

Fucking Cancunts tryin’ to steal our shit.

  • Brutalist_Receptacle

  • nbm02ss

Man, that Melvins song was a let down. First QotSA, now this. :C

    • i have to see those guise open for Meshuggadeth in a few weeks 🙁

      • Your only hope is that they play stuff off of ‘One’

  • Hans

Man, I still haven’t really listened to the last Cobalt. That video kinda makes me want to give it another go though.

  • Treebeard, Father of Fangorn

I have been to the Vale of Pnath, and it is indeed a most brutal and hectic place, but one that I found myself strangely comfortable in.

  • CT-12

Drawn In just released a new EP today completely out of the blue. Feel like @JoeThrashnkill would dig this one. RIYL Power Trip, Foreseen
