  • Been listening to the new Cavalera Conspiracy album since I discovered streaming recently (for things that I deem not good enough for outright purchase). The thrashy stuff is GREAT but dear Jesus in heaven, there’s some true dogshit on there. Namely Iggor’s…thing. And the various nu metal elements. And the spoken word thing towards the end. It’s a shame because I really like Inflikted and Blunt Force Trauma.

    Also, Inanimate Existence drama….yeesh!

    • Retchin’ Rites ov Karhu

Eh, Inflikted and BFT are pretty bad for me. This was much better (as was the last one) though I wouldn’t buy it by any means, nononononono. The title track was terrible though.

      • Damn, total opposite opinions! I couldn’t stand the (presumably) pitch-shifted vocals on Pandemonium. And like I said, the good stuff on Psychosis is great, but there just ain’t enough of it for me.

    • Elegant Gazing Globe

I think the CC album is a solid blend of all of the best output Cavalera name has been on.

    • yeesh is right, wowzers! getting tired of everything being held on a public forum these days. [Give us dirty laundry…]

  • Howard Dean
  • Janitor Jim Duggan

    Yay, new Anvil!

    • Retchin’ Rites ov Karhu

Did you listen? The whole EP is sloppy and terrible, Anders sounds better than before but otherwise it’s super-ass-lazy-shit-rank-ass-ass covers with a hastily thrown guitar on top of the original, but emotionless. Sounds nothing like any In Flames era that I can think of really (maybe a bit like that album with the Korn art)

      • Sounds like you need to stop listening to In Flames from now on.

        • Retchin’ Rites ov Karhu

I keep up with them, check out every new record. But I haven’t really listened to them in a good while. But man this cover-ep is particularly lazy-like even considering that’s what cover albums tend to be.

          • I am not a fan of any of the bands they covered, but I was interested in hearing the covers regardless. Kinda neat they did “unconventional” covers.

          • Retchin’ Rites ov Karhu

Agreed on the “unconventional”, I guess that’s just adding to the salt, really 😛
In that I like the idea very much, but not the execution.

  • Scrimm

Fucking COME ON with the new KD already.

  • Retchin’ Rites ov Karhu

Been waiting for new In Vain forever. Dunno if I should be half-mast or full erect but I’ve been repeating the shit out of that.

    • Joaquin Stick

It took me like 3 listens to really dig it. Kinda bored on first impression, but there’s some promising stuff in the track.

      • Retchin’ Rites ov Karhu

Sort of the same opinion. The whole tremolo/key collaboration is In Vain alright, but they dialed down the Borknagar on this.

  • Depechemodeisgangsta

Past couple of weeks, i have been listening to that Cult of Luna live show and it’s amazing.

    • Joaquin Stick

They are on the top of my “Why haven’t I seen these guys live yet” list, but then I remembered that I passed on seeing them twice because I didn’t like Mariner.

      • Depechemodeisgangsta

Well i’m a little bias since i enjoy Pelican, Russian Circles, that kind of music so i have a soft spot for Cult of Luna since is basically the same music with just growling, I enjoyed the Mariner since it was something different, i have never had the chance to see them live, hopefully someday.

        • Joaquin Stick

I’m a post-metal junkie, so I get you. CoL are top of the food chain in that area. I just can’t dig Christmas’ vocals. Every other album is amazing.

  • Man, Devin Townsend is a mensch.

  • Kinda on topic: been listening to the new Trivium LP a lot lately. It is really awesome, if anyone cares to check it out.

    • Elegant Gazing Globe

      Prob JAG

      • prob!

      • Nukenado

Not prob, he’s been spinning that LP and gushing about it muchly in the Metal-Fi forums (I’m not in the TovH facebook group)

    • Jack Bauer

      Their best since Shogun easily.

      • Been listening to their entire discovery of late, too… it is all so good. It is fun to revisit the tracks after time has gone by, it kind normalizes all the tracks and make you forget what you thought about them originally. Top notch!

  • Rolderathis

Idk if I’d care to see Nile without Dallas =[

  • Señor Jefe El Rossover

    High on Fire, fuck yeah

  • HessianHunter

I dunno about y’all but to me seeing that Deadbird is playing Migration Fest is a Very Big Deal

  • Nukenado

I’m listening to Totem Skin and Dödsrit.
