TMP: Katatonia, Vale of Pnath, Suffocation, and More!

In unofficial news, both Moon Tooth and Thank You Scientist played new songs when I saw them on Thursday, so expect new music from them at some point. Both bands played a fantastic set, I can’t recommend them enough.

Hellfest is being amazingly nice to people like me who like to go home early by picking these headliners.

Katatonia announced a US tour with Caspian and Uncured.

Collaboration between Neurosis’ Scott Kelly and Buried At Sea’s Sanford Parker, Mirrors for Psychic Warfare, have a little West Coast tour coming up.

Death metal band The Ominous Circle released a new track over at Decibel. I never shared the first one, so here’s that. Album out January 27.

Hardcore band Advent premiered a new track off the EP, out January 27.

Doom won the “Best Music” award at the Video Game Awards. They performed a song live featuring Periphery’s drummer.

I was considering not using the tour poster because I’m not sure how many people are interested in the project at all, but the design is just too cool.

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Here’s to hoping the new Suffocation won’t end up delaying Killitorous’ sophomore too much.

I’m not going to be as gauche as to cross-post links or anything… but I definitely recommend getting into the previous Persefone albums. Particularly the last two. They’re probably the best band from Andorra I know.

    • Joaquin Stick

It’s good stuff! I can’t believe I’ve missed them for so long.

  • Dumpster Lung

Man, that Hellfest lineup! (4th row and below, at least).

  • Abradolf Lincler

what did they do, and who was being “bullied and ganged up on by racists” in florida?

    • Howard Dean

I was there and saw it. It was a brutal straight right hand that crumpled the target. The attacker was clearly targeting the former quarterback because of his time spent as a satellite TV maven, as evidenced by the stream of obscenities the attacker spouted afterwards concerning DIRECTV’s terrible customer service. Booing and cat-calling erupted from the surrounding crowd, as well as shouts of “Sports harder now, Peytey boy!” Ugly, ugly scene.

    • Joaquin Stick

I have no idea. They somehow explained the whole thing without getting into any of the details whatsoever. Quite impressive.

  • Loved new Blind Guardian! <3

    Also, new Carcass?! I'm sold!

  • Joaquin Stick

I want to know who the fuck organized Katatonia’s tour schedule. Usually there’s some obvious movement from east to west or something, but it’s just utter nonsense.

    • Joaquin Stick

I guess it’s like a really weird circle?

    • Ayreonaut

I noticed the Battlecross tour I just saw was kind of like that. They played across NY, then went down to Maryland, came all the way back up to Albany NY, then went back down to New Jersey. Or something silly like that

  • Count_Breznak

Damn, thats Perifairy’s singers best performance as of now.

  • AeonsOvChaos

So, new Carcass and Suffocation next year, I will wait. Speaking about that new track by Ominous Circle sounds wicked, It’s pretty solid.

  • Prediction: the new Carcass will boast a palpable Deafheaven influence.

Butts would flare, Richter. The same butts that hate Heartwork, probably.

      • Hate Heartwork? Does not compute.

  • Rob M

For the first time, Im really hoping that Decibel tour comes through my area…

…also, how could you not mention Midnight is the fourth band on that lineup

    • Joaquin Stick

I was so tired of typing band names at that point in the article.

      • Rob M

Midnight was the one that broke you huh?
