I just provide the news, what you do with it is your business.

Inter Arma is doing a short US tour with Call of the Void.

This just in, apparently pot is legal in Belgium. Why else would this fest be happening there?

Damnation Festival in Leeds (UK) is shaping up to be something I would like to see.

damnation fest

Trap Them released a new song. Album out September 23.

Colin Marston and Kevin Hufnagel’s dizzying prog machine, Dysrhythmia, released a song off their album coming September 23.

Helms Alee is streaming a new song off their upcoming album.

I think we are going to have to break the “No Anime” rule for the next few months as Alcest gets ready to release their next album on September 30. The french dreamy-shoegaze masters are back with what is sure to be an interesting one.

I’ve been at full mast ever since I heard that one of my favorite emerging stoner doom bands, Khemmis, is already releasing another album on October 21. More info over at 20 Buck Spin and their bandcamp page.

  • Meshuggah’s new album will be called The Violent Sleep of Reason, which I figured was just gibberish until I found this Goya etching. Look for more news soon before the October 7 release.
  • Devin Townsend Project with Leprous and TesseracT UK dates are here.
  • Some of these bands are sometimes talked about here, so if anyone cares, Dance Gavin Dance, The Contortionist, Hail The Sun, and Good Tiger are going on a US tour.
  • The Dillinger Escape Plan have a new album teaser up on their facebook page. A new song will have premiered on satellite radio by the time this is out, so maybe it’s findable somewhere?
  • Max and Igor Cavalera are going to perform the Sepultura album Roots in its entirety on an upcoming tour. Some dates with Allegaeon, The Black Dahlia Murder, Combichrist, All Hail the Yeti, and Oni.

What else is happening in the metal world?

  • Lacertilian

Got so damn excited hearing there was a new Dysrhythmia track during the week I went door-knocking around my whole neighbourhood foaming at the mouth and forgot to actually listen to the track they posted.
    So fucking good.
Also, glad to see wizardbro back on the cover for Khemmis, he’ll make a fine mascot.

  • Go back to bed, Toilet, it’s too early.

  • Joaquin Stick

    BONUS NEWS!
New Opeth song here at 1:27:30 AND
    New Dillinger at 2:00:00

    • PostBlackenedWhaleGaze

Hmm, that new Opeth sounds even different from their last album. Not crazy about it, seems like a step back from what they did with Pale Communion, and I liked that album. Although I do like the hint doom-ishness in that riff, just different.

      • Joaquin Stick

Yeah, I neither hate or love it. I’ll listen to the album once or twice and be ok with it, but probably will not go back to it often.

      • CyberneticOrganism

        I dig it

  • tertius_decimus

    No riff of the week?

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Masterlord was extra-super busy over the weekend, and unfortunately was left without time to compose it

      • tertius_decimus

        Thanks for clarification.

        • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

          No prob.

  • Dubbbz

    Very cool Goya find, Walkeen.

    • Joaquin Stick

Sometimes I do research, but mostly I have no idea what I am talking about 🙂

      • Dubbbz

Also of note, their song, “Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion” is based on a quote from Jeremy Taylor that says, “Revenge… is like a rolling stone, which, when a man hath forced up a hill, will return upon him with a greater violence, and break those bones whose sinews gave it motion.”

        • Joaquin Stick

Dang, those Swedes do their homework. Very neat. Also finally getting around to the band you posted in the ‘zilla post. Very nice.

          • Dubbbz

I figured you’d be one of the weirdos that appeals to.

      • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Sleep of Monsters, which we briefly discussed recently, is named after that etching, as is their debut Produces Reason.

        • Joaquin Stick

Didn’t make that connection. Very interesting.

  • Tim Wilsön

New Dillinger song is perfect. New Opeth song is pretty shit. there ya go

    • I was half not expecting the first track DEP released to be wild and crazy, but I’m glad their kicking things off in style.

    • *skips new Opeth*

  • Emma Ruth Rundle

  • Abradolf Lincler

so excited about Alcest. New Trap Them aint bad either

    • Joaquin Stick

Never would have pegged you for an Alcest kinda guy.

      • Abradolf Lincler

im a Niege fanboy. he made some quality melancholic bm back in the day.

  • Señor Jefe El Rosa

    Desertfest has me drooling.

    • Hans Müller

Whereas the crowd there is likely to suffer from severe cotton mouth.

      • Elegant Gazing Globe

might be more like dessert fest then eh?

    • PostBlackenedWhaleGaze

Every “desert/psych/stoner” fest lineup I see is always spectacular. I want to see literally every band on the bill. To see Yob, Torche, John Garcia, Uncle Acid, Weedeater, Elder, Sub Rosa and every other band on there in one weekend… fuck. I can’t even imagine.

Edit: Also, new Alcest. Anyone else preordering? I love these guys.

      • Joaquin Stick

As with Abradolf, I am a serious fanboy. Niege can do no wrong in my ears. Also in major agreement about those fest lineups. So good.

      • Señor Jefe El Rosa

        It’s not even fair

    • Owlswald

I can’t seem to see past Besertfest.

    • Old Man Doom

Dude. Ahab, Red Fang, and Yob all together? Fuckin’ A

      • Señor Jefe El Rosa

        Seriously!

    • Ted Nü-Djent ™

      That’s dessertfest

  • Thank you, Joaquín Palitos <3

  • CyberneticOrganism

Fuck yeah Trap Them. Also Damnation Festival looks excellent, I actually grew up in Leeds with my dad. Well, I spent my summers there.

    • Joaquin Stick

Damn that recurring joke killed me every time. I watched the first few episodes of that years ago and totally forgot about it. Is it worth going back to?

      • CyberneticOrganism

The first season, absolutely. The second season, meh, if you have time to kill. The third season is on Netflix now and isn’t bad, although the storyline is a little different.

        • Ted Nü-Djent ™

          Which series is that?

    • PostBlackenedWhaleGaze

      Such a cringe-tastic show.

  • PostBlackenedWhaleGaze

Also, Anciients has a new album coming out. Gonna be a good Fall.

    http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/new-song-premiere-anciients-following-the-voice/

  • The Roots tour and Inter Arma/Call of The Void tour have no NYC area dates. What up with that?

    • Joaquin Stick

You could go for a nice swim and meet me in New Haven.

  • Meshuggah are releasing an album on my birthday. Year ruined

  • Seeing Cult of Luna peform all of Mariner with Julie Christmas would set the bar really high for live shows. Damn.

  • Guppusmaximus

Opeth released their latest song, the Title track from Sorceress. I think you can get to it here @ (roughly) 1:27

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07m44p3

My initial listen leaves me with a ‘meh’ kinda feeling. It lacks any kind of signature guitar work or the emotional passages that we came to love with classic Opeth…

  • Waynecro

That Trap Them song is pretty swell.

  • Owlswald

1.) New Dillinger song is awesome and heavy.
2.) New Khemmis artwork is awesome and I want to hear a new song.
3.) New Opeth song is awesome. I really like the doom vibe and it sounds like they’ve taken another step forward.
4.) New Trap Them is awesome.
5.) New Helms Alee track is awesome.
IT’S MONDAY AND EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!
