You have no idea how hard it was to gather news without having football as background noise. It was a slower news week than the last few since many bands already announced their early 2017 plans, but here are some leftovers.

Berserker Fest in Detroit completed their lineup for this year.

Berserker

Graspop in Belgium has a pretty diverse lineup.

California Deathfest announced their first few bands.

Woah, maybe I’ll finally like Mastodon after this album!

Woah, maybe I’ll finally like Pallbearer after this album!

Post metal/rock band Junius released a new song via Rolling Stone. I like this.

Ha, when I saw that news, I immediately started pronouncing it in my mind like that dude.

      • Señor Jefe El Rosa

        Hahaha, it just works!!

    • RepostedAvengedSevenfoldFan2

I dont know your names, and I really dont care. I just like the music!!! Great for fuck!!

      • CyberneticOrganism

how much mak great fuck 2 hour

    • Señor Jefe El Rosa

First thing I thought of as well!!! Hahahah

    • KyleJMcBride

      “Did he say ‘making fuck’?”

  • AndySynn

I have legitimately asked Ken if he’ll recommend me to be his replacement once his time with The Faceless inevitably comes to an end. That should be fun.

  • Sid Vicious Promos

I’ll miss Geoff Nicholls. I loved his work with Sabbath as well as Quartz.

  • Sid Vicious Promos

Also I didn’t know that you’d cover the death of a guy who worked with Adam Ant here. Thank you for that.

  • Joaquin Stick

Srs, Moon Tooth is the perfect band to cover Hendrix. Can’t believe I never noticed how much influence he had on their sound until I heard them play one of his songs.

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Bummer man, if there was one guy in NeO who I didn’t want to go ever, ’twas Cygnus.

But BORKNAGAR WORKING ON NEW STUFF. NOT A DRILL FOLKS.

    • Sir Kookaburra The Based

      More like Boreknagar.

      • high five just kidding I’ve got no arms

        • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Normally I’d feel bad about kicking a handicap, but I’ll make an exception for the two of yous.

    • Dumpster Lung

I don’t know them, but been hearing their name for years. All I really know about them is when that one Kanye song came out, there was a meme that said “Now I ain’t sayin she a gold digger, but she ain’t messin with no Borknagar”

  • Señor Jefe El Rosa

    RIP Geoff Nichols.

Berserker looks like a great time.

Seeing Emperor between Alter Bridge and Mastodon was a good laugh.

Speaking od Mastodon, that track kills.

    • Señor Jefe El Rosa

I need to listen to the new Pallbearer too. Maybe I’ll like it.

      • Joaquin Stick

I think they took some hints from the popularity of Khemmis, but that’s just me.

        • Señor Jefe El Rosa

          VERY INTERESTING!

      • Dumpster Lung

I think you might if you found their other stuff too slow. I personally don’t do much slow at all. When I wanna hear some doom, my default is Candlemass, and they’re really pretty uptempo a lot of the time for a doom band.

But I have always made a pretty notable exception for Pallbearer. I really liked Sorrow and Extinction, but didn’t listen to it often. I thought Foundations was killer, though. I’m not even sure I’ll like this new one as much as Foundations, but I do like this song pretty well.

    • Joaquin Stick

Graspop is hilarious. Like, I’d go, but probably not tell anyone. I wouldn’t want people thinking I wanted to see Evanescence, FFDP, and Steel Panther, when I really just wanted to see Alcest, Baroness, and maybe Kvelertak

      • Señor Jefe El Rosa

There are a lot of bands on that list that I’d love to see, so I’d be down with going. I knew a guy that went a few years ago and said it was a great time.

      • Dumpster Lung

I saw quite a few bands I thought would be great to see, but unfortunately you have to squint for the good ones 😛

        • Joaquin Stick

          Agreed!

        • Señor Jefe El Rosa

I can read Deep Purple, Sabaton, , Emperor, Mastodon, Gojira and Europe just fine. 😛

          • Señor Jefe El Rosa

And about 23 in the bottom that I’d want to see.

          • Dumpster Lung

Haha that’s true. I might have been a little melodramatic 😛

      • PostBlackenedWhaleGaze

The lineup really just gets better the smaller the font appears.

    • CyberneticOrganism

      Bro Alter Bridge, bro

  • Primordial Chaos

The new song by Pallbearer is good to me and I want to share these two songs with you about the rising Icelandic Black Metal acts in Sinmara and Misþyrming here: https://misthyrming.bandcamp.com/track/hof and here: https://sinmara.bandcamp.com/track/ivory-stone

  • Eliza

I enjoy that Junius song. It has nice vibes.

  • TrundleTheGreat

Really wish that Napalm Death tour was in the States, but good for Europe for getting it. Napalm Death and Iron Reagan would be a fun show. Sultan’s Curse has me excited for this Mastodon album. I enjoyed OMRTS but would love them to return to a Crack the Skye sound.

    • Dumpster Lung

I planned on seeing ND the last couple tours they did, but it was always about a 4 or 5 hour drive, and by the time it came around, there was always something stupid preventing me from going at the time.

I really wanted to see that one a couple years back with Meltbanana and Melvins.

      • TrundleTheGreat

Saw them a few months ago with TBDM, Power Trip, and Abnormality. That was a damn good show.

      • KyleJMcBride

        Melt Banana >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

        • Dumpster Lung

I liked the novelty of their sound, but wasn’t really loving it until seeing them live (Torche headlined with them and. . .maybe just them and a local band? I don’t remember). Then it grew on me a whole lot. Meltbanana is badass.

        • more beer

I was not impressed with them at all when I saw them. Actually they were pretty horrible.

          • KyleJMcBride

Some would say their cats make better music than Melt Banana.

          • more beer

I am one of those people.

  • >FINALLY like Mastodon

    EXPLAIN YOURSELF.

    • Joaquin Stick

      NO.

      • KyleJMcBride

If you like the new song then you should give Blood Mountain another spin.

        • Joaquin Stick

About once a year I go back and try to figure out why I don’t like them, but it just never returns any results.

          • (psst…ever try Crack the Skye?)

          • Joaquin Stick

… you say something about crack? Lol. Yeah I’ve heard at least a few songs off every album. Just not into it. I like this new track though.

          • ah. well you tried! now we shall touch butts and go our separate ways.

          • Shakes 999

Same, I give em a try every few months but I always come back with apathy.

  • Sid Vicious Promos

Speaking of news Deep Purple announced a tour with Alice Cooper and Edgar Winter.

    http://loudwire.com/deep-purple-2017-north-american-tour-alice-cooper/

    • KyleJMcBride

Ha! I was just about to tell you about that.

      • Sid Vicious Promos

If it wasn’t going to Holmdel I’d see it. I went to Holmdel when I was 6 to see Neil Young with my dad. It was an awful venue but it was the first concert I ever went to.

        • KyleJMcBride

I would only go to see Alice. Gillan’s lost most of his voice, Blackmore’s not playing, and Jon Lord is gone.

    • Señor Jefe El Rosa

      Bad ass

  • Waynecro

“Abigail Williams’ frontman Ken Sorceron has become the next person soon to be fired by Michael Keene.” You get five cool points for that one, JS.

    • Joaquin Stick

      🙂
