TMP: Artificial Brain, Vulture Industries, Loviatar, and More!

This week we have lots of news about new bands made up of prominent members of other bands. Side projects galore.

This monster of a tour was announced early last week.

New Myrkur song, album out September 15

The Lurking Fear, a band made up of members from At the Gates and The Haunted, released a track.

That Fleshkiller band I mentioned last week released a song.

Big fan of that Fleshkiller track… but it does have me “doin’ a concern” about whether or not Extol are quietly “done” (again).

    • Scrimm

      I know 🙁

  • Jack Bauer

Already requested off work for that tour. that’s one i will make the two hour drive for.

    • Chicago date? I may eyeball my finances closer to that date and consider it!

  • The Lurking Fear is promising. Tompa sounds vicious on that guitar wall of sound. Adrian also hit those skins like a maniac. Sweet.

    Will check Fleshkiller, too!

Exactly. That is just wrong. I guess it’s too late to stop it. But for fucks sake, if somebody knew this was happening, why didn’t they stop it?

Some men just want to watch the world burn.

      • Lord of Bork

A7X are pretty well-known Mr. Bungle fans, and at this point they’ve gotten “big” to the point where people won’t tell them when they’re doing stupid shit.

        • TheGranulatingDarkSatanicMilfs

Are they? I really don’t follow the band, but from what I’ve heard, I don’t hear a lot of Bungle influence. On a band like Korn I can definitely hear it; A7X not so much.

And at the risk of sounding like an elitist prick, but that cover just goes to show how little they got the song they chose to cover

Don’t know why I have such a clear recollection of this, but here goes: Back around when City of Evil came out I had a Guitar World subscription and their guitarists were regular interview subjects, and Mr. Bungle often came up. I seem to remember one of them picking Mr. Bungle’s first album as his choice for “record that changed my life.” The other one picked Pantera’s “Far Beyond Driven.”

It also just dawned on me that I forgot the name of the place where my gf works the other day, but can remember GW articles from a decade ago. Fuck me.

    Looking forward to more Myrkur.

I loved Myrkur’s EP and was bored to tears by both M and their live performance. This new song though, sounds like they could be on the right path here. That instant catchiness and viciousness that was so lacking on M is here in SPADES.

Looking forward to new WITTR, don’t know if I’ll bother to give another Bloodclot track a chance (probably will but at this point (or for a long time actually) I’m more interested in the deranged Harley vs Joseph soap than the music these guys put out.)
And, well, the Miracle Drug guys, you have heard of their previous bands when you shilled for HC vinyl in the Nineties and/or for the book Burning Fight (an oral history on 90ies HC) a couple years ago. So, not many, I guess. MD are hardly overwhelming, track is ok, if that.
