This Toilet Tuesday (9/22/15)

Another week, another Toilet Tuesday. Another wave of new releases washes over us, sweeping us away in a tide of purifying filth. This week’s offering has tremendous variety, pulling from all spheres of metal. There’s something here for everyone, so you should be able to find something you like. You’d BETTER find something you like. I’ve got my eye on you.

Acherontas/Horna – Atavistic Resurgence (split- WTC Productions) [Black Metal]

W.T.C. (World Terror Committee) Productions has had a fruitful year, offering up a veritable feast of quality black metal releases from their ever-increasing stable of bands. September 22nd sees that trend continue with this quality split between Acherontas and Horna. Even though both bands released full-lengths this year, they have proved they still have fuel for the fire with exclusive tracks being recorded for Atavistic Resurgence. Acherontas bookend their passage with some more of the mysterious and exotic ambiance found on February’s Ma-Ion, with the focal point (‘Gospel Of Saturn’) being 7-minutes of unbridled evil. Horna waste no time picking up the tail with two tracks of the hell they are renown for, coupled with their full-length (stab to read Bear’s review) that also comes out on the 22nd, this split is not to be missed. FFO: Occult-laden Black Metal. 9/22/15 (Lacertillian)

dark buddha rising

Dark Buddha Rising – Inversum (Neurot Recordings) [Doom]
Listen to “ESO,” “EXO”

DBR is known for their hypnotic, dooming, droning, psychedelic amalgamation of… noises. Inversum offers more of the same, yet not “more of the same”, if you catch my drift. On their Neurot Recordings-debut the band puts emphasis on the doom side and things seem a little clearer. It was only on Dakhmandal that the band added a(nother) vocalist to their ranks, yet Inversum already a change in that position, meanwhile the vocals have again become more prominent. If not by their amount then by the significance of their role. Almost like the spin-off adventures in Atomikylä would’ve filtered away the part of DBR’s souns that most overlapped with theirs. An honest review: Good, good, good, good, good. 9/22/15 (Karhu)

Gloryhammer – Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards (Napalm Records) [Power Metal]
Listen to “Universe on Fire,” “Rise of the Chaos Wizards”

As we all know, Gloryhammer’s 2013 debut, Tales From the Kingdom of Fife, is objectively the greatest piece of music ever written. For some reason, other so-called “musicians” continued to put out their works (all of which I’ve ignored), foraging for scraps of relevance and legitimacy in the wake of this paragon of truest art. Now Gloryhammer has returned with a follow-up that promises to be the final nail in the coffin of the rest of these posers. Their already immaculate sound has somehow been tightened even further; the greater use of keyboards and choirs makes the music sound fuller while retaining their characteristic exuberant riffs and mighty choruses. Cast aside the rest of this dreck; Gloryhammer is all you need. 9/25/15 (Spear)

Snail – Feral (Small Stone Recordings) [Psychedelic Doom]
Listen to “Building a Haunted House”

On Feral, Snail seem to be following a WYSIWYG modus operandi. Fuzzed out psychedelic riffs? Check. Dreamy vocals? Check. Album art featuring mushrooms and/or woodland critters? Check. This album is chill, man. Chill as a bill. [Note: This was a favorite saying of one of my old stoner pals]. I can dig it. FFO: Mammatus, Helms Alee, KJM 9/25/15 (W.)

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Gloryhol(er). That cover gave me a cunting seizure.

    • Sgt. Poopypanty’s Fartin Teeth

Gloryhummer (and no, I’m not talking about the vehicle!).

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

    • Spear

Indeed, their glory can be overwhelming.

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

        So can the holes.

        • Spear

I, for one, have never been overwhelmed by any amount of hole.

          • That’s deep…. That hole.

  • JJD Misses Witch Ripper

Gloryhammer, Graveyard and Snail are the only albums that matter.

  • KJM, Doom Hunter General

Bands should probably avoid using the word “glory” in their name these days.

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

And hammer, witch, black, acid, death, etc., etc., etc………………………..

  • KJM, Doom Hunter General

    Snail is dope.

  • That Vampire track needs to sound shittier.

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Their best release was their demo anyway. It killed. And yes this production is too pretty. The vocals sound good, though.

        • This new track is lacking the thrash attack that the demo had too. All well.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

I think it was a bad move signing with Century Media anyway. I was bummed when I heard the news.

          • Yeah, pretty lame.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

You ever get a copy of the demo on tape?

          • Not yet, I did find it for a good price of $1.80. Shipping cost more than the product its self.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Damn. I never got a copy either.

      • #NowListening. This is cool too, I think I will search more of them. Thanks.

        • Check out their shit with Century Media Records. You might like it, but like KSOFM said their demo is their best.

          • I listened the song Spear shared in the list. I’m cool with it too. That’s why I also pointed that they sounded like Tribulation. The demo is another thing, but I’m liking it too.

I think it can be a cool addition for Halloween playlist for me!

          • Halloween and metal is always a good thing.

          • I started today with some Mercyful Fate, to set the mood. Not even this tropical awful weather will stop me to enjoy my Halloween.

          • Good attitude duders. I wanted so bad to start my Horror movie marathon last night, but I’m resisting. October can’t come any sooner.

          • CyberneticOrganism

Truer words have never been spoken.

  • Maik Beninton™

Oh lord, that Todesstoß, I’m laughing so much right now.

  • Sgt. Poopypanty’s Fartin Teeth

Meh, Gloryhammer……….. spoof band with two good songs, tops. Rest of the week seems slow music wise so far.

  • Can we all agree that Dark Buddha Rising is a terrible band name?

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

No, we can’t. Because it isn’t.

    • KJM, Doom Hunter General

      Worse than Gloryhammer?

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

        Tied? Both shitty names.

      • Gloryhammer sounds unintentionally sexual, so it beats Dark Buddha Rising.

    • 365chaosriddendays

      What about “Aborted Hitler Cock”

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

I like that name. God damn it.

        • 365chaosriddendays

Ha ha (real laughs) but maybe “The Broke Penis Orchestra” sounds more refined, a name that you can express in a summit with people very cultivated!

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Or perhaps The Obtuse Vagina Symphony?

          • 365chaosriddendays

Oh, with that name you can reach the top of the social scale, the name you picked is the best, well, maybe “Fuck, the Retarded Girl” and “Midget handjob” are not very refined!

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Yeah, I think Big Ass Pussy Muzak was taken.

          • Lacertilian
    • CyberneticOrganism

The word “rising” in general makes everything worse. Band names, movie titles, etc.

  • Phoenix of the House Tendies

Oh hey Windfaerer released something new.

  • Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo

My body is ready for new Dark Buddha Rising (ง ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ง

  • 365chaosriddendays

The debut album by the black metallers in “Shrine of Insanabilis” is a splendid and furious firestorm, ah, the goodness of vitriolic and merciless Black Metal, probably one of the strongest releases of this year!

  • Horna with 2 releases. That split sort of came out of no where.

    • Lacertilian

Did you check out the Acherontas tracks?
The intro and outro ambient-ish parts are in no way as drawn-out as the ones on the LP from earlier in the year. The track in the guts is tops.

  • KJM, Doom Hunter General

It should be DANK Buddha Rising.

      Dank Buddha Resin

  • Phoenix of the House Tendies

Hmm this Division Speed isn’t too shabby. But “not too shabby” is not going to cut it when the likes of Sadistic Ritual, Invincible Force, Hexlust, Profanator, and Evil Madness are killing it in terms of thrash releases this year.

    • CT-12

Dude, have you checked out Sakrificer’s new album? I’ve only listened to it a few times so far. The production is a little shitty, and the fills are a little lacking, but it’s an album I definitely think you’d be interested in.

    FFO KJM lolol

    • KJM, Doom Hunter General

I just hope these fans have good health care so they can get the therapy they obviously need.

I signed up for the KJM street team

        • KJM, Doom Hunter General

Damn, now I gotta drop a 12″ single.

        • JJD Misses Witch Ripper

          I did too.

    • #KJMVenezuelanFanClub

In our first meeting we will drop 800 tequeños with guasacaca.

Windfaerer sure is a toe tapper

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

  • Celtic Frosty

  • Bloodway, A Sound of Thunder concept album about Shadowman and Vampire are what had my interest this week.

    • KJM, Doom Hunter General

      • Shadowman from N64 was the first game that truly scared me. I would really like to delve more into the series and the album, too.

  • Tribulation and Vampire will tour in 2016. I’m very curious on how similar are both bands as a whole. Do you like tours/gigs with similar bands/sounds? Or do you prefer diversity on the rooster?

Here’s the dates. There’s no England, Finland or Spain; but, I still share it if someone need it:

I donno, but i rly like tribulation. Theyre touring with defhebbin atm

      • I was seeing that as well. They will tour with Deafheaven in October and November in the US. That’s pretty cool.

  • KJM, Doom Hunter General
  • HessianHunter

Aw dude, new Black Breath! Also this Snail shit is sweet.

  • CyberneticOrganism

Great moments in poop history (taken from a Deadspin submission,

Midwestern US. 12 AM. A Monday morning. College (of course).

The RA wakes the entire floor and sends us to the lounge. Dude is livid.

    “Who did it?”

    No answer.

He orders every jackhole to march through the men’s room and observe the “vandalism”.

Now when I think bathroom vandalism at college I usually picture a river of puke flooding half the room, someone emptying their nut in the soap dispenser, or a diarrhea manifesto on the shitter stalls. But this was special.

There it was, a sunken ship plugging the middle toilet.

It had to be a bread loaf. The size. The shape! Symmetric. Unbroken. Fluffy. Like a steamy one right out of the oven. It had to be. Someone’s ass would be wider than a tractor trailer and wincing like he had just delivered twins naturally.

But then, you really looked at it. You looked at it and you started to feel. Something deep inside rekindled. You started to believe again. It was physically possible, right? It was so dark. So logged with water. The texture was so rugged. So thick. And so perfect. It was more than just a magical dump. It was angelic. The idea that it was even possible instantly expanded the mind. It was a question of physics. It was art. It was an actual brick of shit. And imagine that motherfucker. It was not about to go down. We all looked at each other.

The RA led us back into the lounge. He walked back through the bathroom. He returned to the lounge. White hot.

“Who stuck the fork in it?!?!?”

March back through the bathroom. A plastic fork embedded in that beautiful monster.

No one ever laid claim. The guy at the end of the hall, one of those grown-up Eagle Scout guys, went in, bare hands and a Glad bag, and tossed the creature down the garbage chute, thoughtless to what he had just destroyed.

  • Looking forward to jamming the new ASOT up my butt when it comes out

  • JWEG

Last week an employee at HMV recommended I get that Black Breath when it comes out this week, because I guess it’s their latest policy to always recommend their customer’s next buy based on the current sale (TBDM).

For once, they might have a sale based on a recommendation. We’ll see what happens Friday…

  • tigeraid

Gloryhammer is love. Gloryhammer is life.

  • 365chaosriddendays

Update, you can listen the streaming for the debut album “De Praestigiis Angelorum” by french black metallers “VI” and, well, seems that we have another serious contender for one of the best Black Metal albums of the year!

  • Waynecro

Caspian and Atma Weapon sound pretty cool, and VI’s album is great. I’m most pumped about Abhorrent Decimation, though. That’s a gym album for sure.
