This Toilet Tuesday (9/13/16)

Greetings, and welcome once again to This Toilet Tuesday! I have returned from my poser-slaying sojourn, still sticky with sweat and body oil, to deliver the newest offerings from the metal world unto you. And what offerings they are! There’s a lot to be had here; we’ve picked out a few of the best, but if none of those tickles your fancy, there’s a lot more in the list below. Get at it and share your own picks!

Gatekrashör – Revenge at Midnight (Independent) [Speed Metal]
Listen to “Axecution Guaranteed”

Hail, true warriors and enemies of the false! Do you like riffs and wish you were stuck in a time portal that kept you infinitely cycling through the year 1984, when metalheads were noble and slew posers left and right, leaving their rotting corpses to pile in the alleys of Los Angeles? Then Gatekrashör is the wizard you seek. The speedy riffs, booze-soaked vocals, and pointless umlaut guarantee a good time. You’re headbanging. FFO: Angel Sword, Night Demon, Flotsam and Jetsam 9/17/16 (W.)

Aephanemer – Memento Mori (Primeval Records) [Melodeath]
Listen to “Unstoppable,” “The Call of the Wild”

With their upcoming second album, the French melodic death metal project Aephanemer is thriving to experiment a little bit with their tried formula. Sweet melodies are now welcoming some harsh singing, remembering the mid-melodeath moments that recall the monochromatic vocals from the Angela Gossow-era of Arch Enemy, or the Dutch band Izegrim. The evolving (and sometimes distracting) synths and keys are still on the road, but the bright riffing is sharper and clearer, compared to their debut Know Thyself. This could probably be more enjoyable than their first album, and I will definitely check it out based on these new elements showed in the two songs displayed. 9/16/16 (Link)

KYPCK – Зеро (Ranka Kustannus) [Doom]

KYPCK is back with their fourth full-length, continuing their Russian-sung, depressed, doomed-out crusade. More groovy and less melodic than is the standard fare for bands of this kind, KYPCK sticks out like a sore thumb – fully intentionally. FFO: Kauan, Sentenced, Solstafir 9/16/16 (Karhu)

Warfather – The Grey Eminence (Greyhaze Records) [Death Metal]

Just in case you weren’t already swamped with a massive backlog of this year’s death metal, here’s a new Warfather album to add to the pile. This is the definition of meat-and-potatoes death metal, but it’s hard to fault it when that meat is a perfect ribeye steak and the potatoes are loaded to bursting. Guitarist/vocalist Steve Tucker (you may have heard of him) continues to write lyrics as heavy as the mighty riffs, but they’re really just icing on an already delicious cake. Er, sauce on a steak. Food metaphor. 9/16/16 (Spear)

“Do you like riffs and wish you were stuck in a time portal that kept you infinitely cycling through the year 1984, when metalheads were noble and slew posers left and right, leaving their rotting corpses to pile in the alleys of Los Angeles?”

    Yes. Yes I do.

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

      That track is fucking rad.

    • Riffs are for losers. Melodic deedly-doos and one note chugging is where it’s at.

    • TrickleDownOvTacoKvltRiff

“Cycling through the year 1984, when metalheads were noble and slew posers left and right,”

1984-My senior year in HS. I was slaying all kinds of shit back then, including my future. Hahaha, now your stuck with me.

      • Señor Jefe El Rosa

I wouldn’t mind hanging with you at all!

        • TrickleDownOvTacoKvltRiff

          Sounds good to me brother!

      • W.

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

        • TrickleDownOvTacoKvltRiff

          Thanks W! For realz!

  • Joaquin Stick

Obscure Sphinx’s previous album was pretty enjoyable, but the only track they have up now is kinda dull. The “heavy” part in the song is just a slo-mo Meshuggah riff.

  • Spear

I’m going to ram that Virvum album into my ears so hard this weekend.

    • Ooh bby

    • Deeds of Flesh had a concept album with lyrics about this Virvum. Mist be #onecoolelement

      • With a sample from The Thing about 3 minutes in, to boot.

        • Gurp’s heard of this band before, hehe. This CD was a blind buy for me YEARS ago (before metal intarwebz were cool). Wonder if it holds up……

        • Tampaxon, Flusher Of Gods

Never heard of these guys before, but me likey!

    • Waynecro

I’m going to blast that album so hard when my new speakers get here.

  • Howard Dean

For those interested: the Moharebeh debut album “We Are At War!!!” was released on Sunday by Doomsday Elite/Behold Barbarity. CDs available at the Behold Barbarity webstore. Preview tracks available on YouTube.

    • Let me know how it was you get it man (I’m sure it will be good). That $5 shipping cost is so dumb though. $17 for a CD ain’t gonna happen any time soon unfortunitly for me.

      • Howard Dean

Will do. I think he said the CDs will be shipping by the end of September, so it might be awhile before I get it in the mail. And yeah, it’s prohibitively expensive to order a single CD now, which is too bad. Better to loop in a few to make it worth it.

        • Yup, I’m sure he’ll get something else in soon that’ll I’ll want.

  • Señor Jefe El Rosa

I had no clue Airbourne had an album coming out. Might have to listen.

  • New Hellgoat. Nice.

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Fuck, forgot about them. Too many bands, blah, blah, blah…………..death.

      • Always BRO! I have a 7″ of theirs. Still haven’t listened to their full-length album yet. Too much as you stated.

    • Ayreonaut

  • Might have to give that Warfather record a spin for good ol’ Steve Tucker. And the new Cult of Fire and Shokran.

  • I wonder if Airbourne has any new drum tricks up their sleeves this time around.
Probably not…but who would want that?!?!

    • Señor Jefe El Rosa

    • Tampaxon, Flusher Of Gods

Much like their beloved AC/DC post Back In Black, they’re gonna offer up absolutely nothing new or innovative.

  • I want to check that Drudkh/Grift split. Grift is a good, but I’m still in debt with them because I haven’t listened their 2015 debut.

Opinions and thoughts on new Brujería and Cult of Fire?

    • Maik Beninton™

      Brujeria no gusta imitadores.

    • I’m gonna give Brujeria a spin and see if it is the goods. I only heard two songs, one good and one boring. Small sample size, so I need to hear it all.

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Cult of Fire was more… Alcest-ey than before and I’m not sure I like it.

    • Tampaxon, Flusher Of Gods

Brujeria’s always been hilariously bad, IMHO. New songs definitely aren’t changing that opinion.

  • Maik Beninton™

Go pillage and kill cause yolo.

    • I liked their previous album, but this is something I don’t understand.

  • Abradolf Lincler

Roman Saenko has been unstoppable lately

  • Rob M

Oh, Blood Harvest…you can do no wrong…both that In Obscurity Revealed and Morbosatan were pretty fucking destructive

  • Maik Beninton™

KYPCK and Aephanemer are doing for me.

    • Haha, love the new avatar

      • Maik Beninton™

A gem that I found a few weeks ago.

  • 365ChaosRiddenDays

The Norwegian black metallers in Tortorum are back with a new song “Night Of The Witch” and you can stream the song at Decibel and the finnish Death Metal band in Krypts has a new song from their new album (10/28/2016) here:

Mare Cognitum’s new album sounds great by the way!

  • PostBlackenedWhaleGaze

Hmm, a band named Sauron, wonder if they play black metal…

    Yep, they do.

  • The Satan Ov Hell

KYPCK sounds like a gulag in all the best ways.

  • Waynecro

Aephanemer, Warfather, Inanimate Existence, Negative Thought Process, Thy Catafalque, and Virvum sound pretty excellent.

  • Owlswald

That new In the Woods… sounds like it will be REAL good.

    • I am so disappoint. Does not sound like Strange in Stereo? Does not compute.

  • CT-12

Haven’t been really able to get into much music lately, but this Cage of Creation is definitely doing something for me. Weird, chilled out black metal stuffz.

  • Tampaxon, Flusher Of Gods

Wow, haven’t heard Iron Fire in fuck knows how long! I thought they broke up a long time ago, but definitely checking this bad boy out.
