Greetings, friends of the bowl, and welcome to another round of This Toilet Tuesday. Time passes; bands pour forth their endeavors before us, often vanishing as quickly as they appear. Some will go on to obtain some modicum of success, while most will fade into obscurity. Fewer still, however, will surge forth into the limelight and emblazon their name forever on the face of history and culture. These few, the bands presented below… well, probably aren’t going to be it, but hey, they’re pretty cool. Check ’em.

plaguewielder

Plaguewielder – Chambers of Death (Horror Pain Gore Death) [Doom/Sludge]
Listen to “Drowned”

Luxembourg is a very small country. Bordered by other, bigger countries, it has a population of like, 5 people and probably a lot of goats. 4 out of those 5 people are in a band billed as “the only active doom/sludge band in Luxembourg.” Plaguewielder puts an excellent spin on that combination of genres, showing a serious knack for atmosphere in their music alongside doomy riffage and sludgy weight. Out of the two tracks that are available, there is a surprising range of style with this band; “Father Suicide” has an undeniable emotional tug throughout, while “Drowned” lurches by ominously. Pick this one up 8/25/15 courtesy of Horror Pain Gore Death Productions. (Stockhausen)

ahab

Ahab – The Boats of the Glen Carrig (Napalm Records) [Death/Doom]
Stream

I don’t think I’m alone in believing Ahab’s Call of the Wretched Sea was their finest hour. The Divinity of Oceans and The Giant were both good, but didn’t quite reach the fathomless depths of their predecessor. Ahab look to rectify that with the release of The Boats of the Glenn Carrig, and while I don’t think they’ve achieved their goal, it is a solid-if-unremarkable entry in their low and slow catalogue, but perhaps your mileage will vary. The only way to find out is to click the link and submerge yourself into the sea. 8/28/15 (Leif Bearikson)

funebria

Funebria – Dekatherion: Ten Years of Hate and Pride (Satanath Records) [Blackened Death]
Listen to “Aeon of Tyranny”

Venezuelan malandros Funebria have emerged from the corruption and violence of their home country to unleash a diatribe of pure hatred for their fellow man. Dekatherion – Ten Years of Hate and Pride celebrates their decade-long career of debauchery and misanthropy in a suitably seditions black metal fashion that is unmistakably South American. Expect plenty of hurricane blasts and ear-splitting shrieks. FFO: Odosha, Krueger, Korpus Inc. 8/29/15 (W.)

    New FFDP! Oh yeah!!

    • Just for the fuck of it I started listening to the new FFDP. Only took about 20 seconds before I went back to Teitanblood.

      • Howard Dean

No way, man! Ya gotta throw on the FFDP. The bitches love dudes who listen to the Death Punch. Just look at this bish: she makes me my protein shake for my swole sesh, and then I repay her by giving her a protein shake! Eh? EH?! Gnome I say in’?

        BAD COMPANY, MOTHERFUCKERS. PEARL NECKLACES!

So, so, cunting bad. Sorry for sharing. Nuke the planet.

          • y u do dis?

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            I don’t know.

          • I wish they would self implode. Violently.

          • Janitor Jim Duggan

I refuse to support them. They’re garbage and I don’t care that Ivan was in Motograter. I loathe them.

          • Janitor Jim Duggan

I bet Chas Chandler of the Animals is rolling in his grave after hearing this.

          • You seem to know which members are in different bands

          • Janitor Jim Duggan

            I do.

          • The Haunting Presence of Tyree
          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            I know. I know.

          • The Haunting Presence of Tyree
          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            Now we’re talking.

          • The Haunting Presence of Tyree

I remember way back when on MS one day we just polluted the comment section with shitty fucking music videos like these.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Yeah, I think that was the last for them, hahaha. That was a fun day.

          • tigeraid

I mean, god fucking damn it. The song is about a fucking brothel. A BROTHEL. With some speculation it has a hidden meaning about a woman killing her abusive father. What the FUCK does that have to do with jeeping around a desert in camo and guns?????

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            Camo or GTFO.

        • Janitor Jim Duggan

Don’t lump the legendary supergroup that Paul Rodgers led with this farce of a band. If I were Paul Rodgers I’d actively hunt these guys down until they’re all pushing up daisies.

          • Spear
          • Janitor Jim Duggan

Death to FFDP. That’s the only way this will be righted.

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Why is it that wifebeaters always look like they beat their wives?

          • Óðinn

Ah yes, the U.S. military. Along with capitalism and Christianity, one of America’s sacred cows. Never question the sacred cows.

That song sounds like Nickelback, and therefore it sucks.

  • The Haunting Presence of Tyree

New Abysmal Lord album set to be released on November 22. New song streaming at their Bandcamp page. Pure savagery.

  • The Haunting Presence of Tyree

I’m going to try my best to make it through all of that Pentagram album this morning with out any interruptions.

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

I almost made it about half way, but got interrupted yesterday. Fucking work and shit.

  • 365chaosriddendays

Hello children ov the beast, new Ahab deserves attention. Two other news, new song by Tsjuder “Djevel Mesterverk” and by Horrendous “Sum of all Failures”

    • The Haunting Presence of Tyree

Is the Tsjuder song streaming yet? Their Facebook page says: “Prepare yourself for a new song from “Antiliv” streaming very soon!”

        Just saw this on instagram

        • The Haunting Presence of Tyree
          • The Haunting Presence of Tyree

This song goes hard. Much harder than their first one.

          • RJA

I agree this song is better than the first. I can’t say I was that excited for this album, but I will definitely give it a listen.
Check out the pics on no clean singing’s page – dude’s got some snakeskin boots to go with his black metal garb – that’s a new one!

          • The Haunting Presence of Tyree

That production really isn’t doing it for me at all, but the riffs and songs are decent.

          • RJA

yes, the boots have got a nice “I don’t give a fuck” quality to them.

          • yissssssssssssssss

  • Mxxk Bxnxntxn™© :]

I googled Ungooglable Metal but didn’t find it.

  • And metalcore continues to be the single worst subgenre of metal.

    • Mxxk Bxnxntxn™

      You’re being too negative dude.

    • Nu-metal would like a word with you.

      • They should fight it out to determine which genre is the bigger shit show.

        • KJM

Metalcore, any current genre with “core” as the suffix really.

          • “We play sludgy deathcore.” Listens to band and they turn out to be 5th rate garbage.

      • KJM

Korn and SOAD are Mozart and Beethoven compared to your average Metalcore band.

        • Here is a killer song by ABR that I have recently rediscovered. Enjoy!

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMM0RDGP2Lo

          • I don’t think ABR qualifies as your average metalcore band.

          • KJM

Just not my thing at all.

          • ME GORAK B.C.™

METAL LIKE APPLE, CORE IS WORST PART!!!!!!!!!

          • Sir Tapir The Based :]

            But Grindcore

          • ME GORAK B.C.™

            GRINDCORE ROCKS!!!!!!!

    • I really enjoyed a lot of metalcore back in its infancy. I still enjoy revisiting many of those releases. Good times!

      • Mxxk Bxnxntxn™

        I’m liking that new Inmate.

        • The riffs sound decent but those vocals need turned up!

      • I prefer to refer the early stuff as metallic hardcore because that’s what it was. Nowadays the word metalcore invokes spikey hair and bad music.

        • #true

        • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

If stuff was all like Shadows Fall’s debut I might dig a few bands.

          • Their 2000 effort, Of One Blood? Or The Art of Balance? I was really into them…

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Pretty sure I mean Somber Eyes To The Sky from ’97.

          • Sometimes you just never know how big a poser you are dealing with! Sorry!

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to either album you just mentioned.
            😛

          • DAMNIT

          • Lacertilinger

I think I own The Art Of Balance somewhere.
Edit: Nah, it was War Within

          • The War Within is still banging. The riffs are soooooo good. Classic!

            GL

          • Lacertilian

Can’t say I’ve listened to it since the year it was released. Not sure if I should either..
I struggled to not skip through a bunch of old God Forbid stuff last time I tried them and they used to impress me much more regularly than Shadows Fall.

    • You misspelled djent

      • Mxxk Bxnxntxn™

        You misspelled tech-death.

        • Lol you honestly think tech death is worse than djent?

          • Mxxk Bxnxntxn™

            I’m just rustling your jimmies.

          • Might have worked if I was still obsessed with tech death lol.

          • Mxxk Bxnxntxn™

            Got a break from it?
I’ve been jamming the new Psycroptic.

          • Not so much a break from it, I still listen to it, but it isn’t my favorite anymore. I couldn’t get into the new Psycroptic, vocals kill it for me.

          • Mxxk Bxnxntxn™

I liked those vocals, it sounds core-ish.

          • Scrimm

            Everything killed it for me.

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Srs? I thought it’s easily in their top 2, maybe even best.

          • Scrimm

Best?!? Insanity. Scepter is a pinnacle of the genre.

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

It’s only one of theirs that challenges this new one. But I’m not really a tech-death fan at all and the new Psycroptic just speaks a different language. A language I understand.

          • Lacertilinger

Sure you can’t get into The Inherited Repression?
            It’s solid as fuck.
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKxVNqY207I

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Don’t recall if I’ve gone through this or not, will try.

          • Lacertilinger

            Scepter>>>>

          • Lacertilinger

            You sea-saw around a bit.
First you didn’t like it, then you came around, now you’re back to square 1.

      • We should all talk about how awesome Vildhjarta was when they first came outs.

    • xengineofdeathx

Agree. Although on the other hand Botch, Shai Hulud, Coalesce, Deadguy, Converge, The end, Burnt by the sun and what have you.

      • Those are among my favorites and thankfully there’s quite a few newer bands showing up that are influenced by them.

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Dat Plaguewielder link doesn’t even work. Great job guys, great job.

    • Dubzlinger, Malandro

      You mean on their page?

      • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

No, the link that ought to take me to “Drowned”

        • Mxxk Bxnxntxn™

You mean the one that says Horror Pain Gore Death Productions?

        • Dubzlinger, Malandro

          I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Also, don’t be a dick or you’ll get bopped on the nose.

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

            But I like being a dick 🙁

          • Dubzlinger, Malandro

I don’t think you’re actually a dick in real life, so your dickishness here lacks conviction. Also, Shining Spear is a saint.

          • Dagon

            By a dick

      • omg yer name, lolz

    • Spear

Five seconds of googling, bruh. https://hpgd.bandcamp.com/album/chambers-of-death

      • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

I come here every day so I wouldn’t need to spend those goddamn precious seconds googling, man.

        • Spear

          Acceptable.

          Laziness >>>>>>>>>

  • Dagon

    – Bro, we should name our band something awesome. Something extreme.
    – Bro, think of an extreme animal.
    – I dunno maybe a cougar.
    – No bro, they can’t think we’re horny women over 40.
    – I know, pantera! It’s like a cougar but it’s all dark and brutal and shit, bro.
    – Fuck, there’s already a band named Pantera.
    > 2 hours later
    – BRO!! What if we name it Rifftera? It’s like a Pantera but made out of riffs and shit. Brutal riffs, bro.
    – EXTREME!!! You’re a genius, bro. You’re like a breenius. A bro and a genius, bro.
    > passionate hug.

    • I was going say something about that band name but you appear to have it completely covered.

      • Dagon

Be my guest. That kind of name evokes many things that need to be said.

        • All I would say is that Rifftera sounds like the name of a local Pantera cover band played by talentless 50 year old rednecks.

    • I sent their record over to Molenaar so he could review it. Never heard back for some reason.

      • Dagon

I guess he just couldn’t stop listening to them. Maybe that’s why he’s been missing for so long…

        • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Truth be told, they aren’t half as bad as their name.

          • Dagon

Please tell me Rifftera means something in Finnish. Something like “showsauge” or whatever.

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Nope. It’s just Pantera + Riff. Fucking brilliant. And they have Björn “Meth” Strid.

          • I saw a movie last night. Before the credits I was treated to this, surely the greatest moment in Finnish music.
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Btil9Z5nONg

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

This man is one of the most famous Finnish musicians, srs.

          • Really?!? That’s fucking awesome.

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

His other hits include “A drop[of alcohol] won’t kill you and you won’t drown in a bucket[full]”

Psykoanalyysi made a nice cover of this.

          • Heroic Iron Boogers Of Doom

Somehow, Goodman doesn’t exactly strike me as a Finnish name.

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

I must admit it isn’t a very Finnish one.

          • Sir Tapir The Based :]

Mainly because we aren’t good, man.

          • Sir Tapir The Based :]

His real name was Antti Yrjö Hammarberg.

          • Heroic Iron Boogers Of Doom

OK, that makes more sense. I was beginning to think John Goodman was Finnish for a second.

          • more beer

He needs a song about those hooker boots he`s wearing.

          • Sir Tapir The Based :]

Goodman has some good songs, but this ain’t one of ’em.

    • Heroic Iron Boogers Of Doom

      Radikvltera.

  • Someone took “Dood”? oh well, so long as I can use ” d00d”…

  • The Haunting Presence of Tyree

Some of you on here were asking where to find Mgla albums to stream. They just recently set up a Bandcamp page with their discography:

      Acoustic Bald-Faced Sabbath Worship…
I listened to it and it sounds like… country Sabbath? I didn’t quite get the idea.

    • Spear

It’s, like, 90% of the work I do. The other 10% is an even split between bolding all the band names and TDT.

      • You do good work, Spear.

  • I posted this in the FB group, but here it is again. The vocals are killer. The make my jimmies tingle just the right way.

    • KJM

There have been rumblings about a classic Dokken reunion.

      • Seen that. Not sure how I feel about it. Don’s voice is such garbage…. Oni’s voice in Lynch Mob is 20 times what Don’s ever was…. I would have liked to see them in their prime though. I doubt I would pay the 75 dollars to see the “classic” lineup just to be disappointed.

        • Heroic Iron Boogers Of Doom

My dad sent me a link about that, and we’re both saying too little, too late.

    • CT-12

Nice man, I’ve been jamming these guys’ self-titled the past few weeks. Was hoping this song would be one of the more “rocking” ones though.

      • I know what you mean. You should check out this track if you want rocking! I posted the other one just because the vocals were so amazing.

It seem like they have moved into a serious blues groove, which is great if you ask me!

Really reminds me of King’s X a lot, which I can get behind with full force. Thanks for sharing!

  • Celtic Frosty

Am I the only poser here looking forward to the new Soilwork album?

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

I know Schmitty is, Link probably is and I’m going to check it out as well.

    • Dude I am with you, full force. That track they released was totes awesome.

    • Heroic Iron Boogers Of Doom

I’m gonna have to check out their old stuff first. I remember getting a promo of their’s ages ago to review, and quickly forgot about it. That’s about it.

      • Celtic Frosty

The Chainheart Machine is their best, IMO, but their newer stuff is way more melodic. If you don’t like really melodic death metal then it’s probably not for you.

        • Heroic Iron Boogers Of Doom

Sounds like it just might tickle my tendies!

        • Waynecro

I really like a lot of the band’s newer, highly melodic stuff. Dem choruses in “The Akuma Afterglow,” “Sick Heart River,” “Distance,” and “Light Discovering Darkness.” Feels pickle thoroughly tickled.

        • OldMetalHead

Wow! This is sick stuff. Think I’ll buy this album first instead.

    • Waynecro

I’m a sucker for good melodeath. Remember Unmoored? Man, that band kicks so much ass.

Do the vocals sound a bit metalcore on the linked track? I’m brand new to them to be honest. I am a pretty big melodeath fan though.

I’m very excited for this New Ahab, although I have to politely disagree and say Divinity of Oceans is the coolest. The Plagueweilder rules too. Reminds me a lot of An Autumn For Crippled Children in sound and spirit. Fuckin great band.
