This Toilet Tuesday (5/16/17)

Welcome once more to This Toilet Tuesday! We are once more presented with a plethora of new releases this week, and it’s a particularly good one for power and black metal fans. BertBanana and DumpsterLung have picked out a couple solid releases for you to feast your ears on; check those out, then hit that list for much, much more.

Coprobaptized Cunthunter – Perseveration of Delirious Comprehensiveness (Reality Fade Records) [Brutal Death Metal]

Are you someone like me, who wakes up in the morning and craves ridiculous sounding shit that the average normie would look at you like you have 2 heads? Do songs that don’t even come close to clearing the 2 minute mark and have vocals that sound like your belly after going a whole day without eating, appeal to you? If you answered “yes” to those last couple questions, then you’re in luck. The latest offering from Coprobaptized Cunthunter is right up your alley. After 6 long (or maybe short) years…they finally have some new material. This 8 track, 11 minute EP is loaded with slam riffs, disgusting gutturals and a finite amount of blast pings. At first, the drums threw me off, but then I grabbed an empty tin sitting on my desk that was once filled with Stroopenwafles, and started hitting it with my index and middle finger. Totally nailed that sound and it totes made the 11 minutes much more enjoyable. Sure, $8 might be a little steep for an 8 track EP that you can only get digitally; however, the amount of pleasure you will get from cranking this in a carpool with normies who will question your taste in music and possibly your sanity is endless. 5/15/17 (BertBanana)

Nephilim’s Howl – Through the Marrow of Human Suffering (I, Voidhanger) [Black/Doom]

Just when I thought nothing new was really going to grab me this week, I checked out Nephilim’s Howl and was pleasantly surprised. You’d probably call them a combination of black and doom metal, but rather than the “funeral doom with shrieked black metal vocals” sound I was expecting to hear, these Finns take a more epic approach, with gloomy, mid-paced riffs and a mix of lower-register vocals that range from clean to harsh, often residing somewhere in the middle of that spectrum. There are some brief bits of blasting in a couple spots on the album, but it often reminded me of a more somber and brooding latter-era Bathory overall. I want to go on for longer about the weary, downtrodden atmosphere, the riffs, solos, and vocals, but honestly, the more I’m listening to this, the more I want to just stop writing and pay more attention to the album, so I’ll end on that note! 5/19/17 (DumpsterLung)

  • I don’t know about you all…. but Fleshpress has got to be the stupidest band name ever.

    That is all. Carry on.

    • Brutalist_Receptacle

      Coprobaptized Cunthunter disagrees!

    • Wet W’s Whistle

I like it. I also like Fleshpress.

      Press my flesh, GL.

        • Ted Nü-Djent ™

Whoah. It’s The Boss in GIF form

      • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Acid Mouth Stangulation / Tearing Skyholes>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    • RepostedAvengedSevenfoldFan2

I suggest you educate yourself on the topic of “metalcore”

      – braindeadization, 2 days ago

    • Howard Dean

Nah man, Fleshpress is great. Great name, great band. Though it’s the doom/stoner/sludge band of a certain unsavory Finn that the ToH reviles/despises, so we probably shouldn’t talk about them too much (lest we get our knuckles rapped).

      • Dumpster Lung

Well now I gotta know 😛

      • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Not sure he’s been in the band for a long time, the metallum page has got a wrong line-up. That I know for a fact.

      • It’s just like a Frenchpress, but a lot more merol

        • Hans

Pretty sure it’s Freedompress these days.

    • Dumpster Lung

I feel like that name sounds like it should be something industrial.

      • Hans

    • Spear

      Custard begs to differ.

      • Dumpster Lung

“What can we name ourselves to let everyone we’re power metal right off the bat?”

“Hmmm, maybe that’s too obvious. What about custard? It’s another soft, yellow thing?”

      • NDG

I just don’t get it. How did Custard get across the line as a name for a power metal band?

There was a shitty indie band here in Australia in the 90s called Custard but that kind of made sense.

        This makes no sense!

        • Ted Nü-Djent ™

They truly were terrible. As are all indie bands really.

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

I’ve always thought it was a petty darn good name.

      • Apparently I am the only one!

        • Wet W’s Whistle

Seriously, in a world where there are bands named Rise and Shine and Kyle Primus, Fleshpress falls on the side of good rather than bad.

          • I disagree, Whistle Boy.

          • Dumpster Lung

            Whistle Boy! Ha!

          • Dumpster Lung

Kyle Primus? What the hell lol

        • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

Nope, not the only one. Sounds like the name of some sex toy.
          Music’s pretty good though!

  • Elegant Gazing Globe

    Power Metal

    • President Chester A. Arthur

      My favorite Pantera album.

  • Señor Jefe El Rossover

Anyone not familiar with Below needs to listen, post-haste. They remind me of a bleaker Crypt Sermon.

    • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

      Definitely pretty good.

  • Howard Dean

Coprobaptized Cunthunter FTW. Disgusting/retarded ESL slam is the tits. Well worth the $8.

    • Howard Dean

Also: I love that there is a German power metal band named Custard.

      • Wet W’s Whistle

We Custard the Custard with Custard

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Instead of writing about Fleshpress, I fell asleep – but anyone up for proggy/atmospheric/psyched up sludgey sheit should check them out.

  • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

Well it’s safe to say at least one of these albums isn’t ever going to reach my ears.

(hint: something to do with “dragons” and “forces”)

    • BobLoblaw

It will have some orchestration done by Francesco Ferrini. Only reason I even knew they were still a thing.

  • Doc Torluv

    Coprobaptized Cunthunter. What’s a Cun… and what’s a thunter? Anyway, I found a pic of the drummer:

    • I like slam but this is fucking terrible

      • Dumpster Lung

I hate slam so. . . .should I check this out? lol

        • Depends on how badly you wanna have your eardrums pierced

        • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

Just listened to one of their songs. Man…I fucking hate slam…

          • Dumpster Lung

Yeah, not digging it lol. But it’s not the worst slam I’ve ever heard. I Googled a list of the best slam to see what I could find, and some of that I hated more. So I have no idea what constitutes “good” slam 😛

What happened in your childhood that made you this way, Bert?

          • Hesh

Slam and BDM are just total shit.

          • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

            Slam is terrible.
With BDM there are a few old school bands that sometimes get thrown under the BDM banner, but if were talking about the current modern BDM scene…it’s not completely horrible, but it does get boring very fast.

    • Riboflavin dreams
  • Sid Vicious Promos

I didn’t even know Dragonforce was releasing something. Then again I wasn’t into the last album of theirs.

    • Spear

The new one is fantastic. “The Edge of the World” is easily one of the best songs they’ve ever written.

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

    “Whiter Goest Thou” Lollllllllllllllllllllllll
It’s “Whither”, but I like your version better, Shiny Spearow.

  • GrungierNine0

Coprobaptized Cunthunter. I am beyond mystified at that name.

  • Hesh

    Beastmaker >>>>>>>

    • Dumpster Lung

Somehow I missed that entry entirely 😛 Well, will be checking that out too.

  • I just realized that This Toilet Tuesday can be shortened to The Triple T

  • Hans

Can’t decide if “relentless blasting with a church choir on top of it” sounds good even on paper, but Grim certainly makes it not sound good when realised.

Then again, Coprobaptized Cunthunter could obviously not be topped by anything in the list anyway.

  • Guppusmaximus

Coprobaptized Cunthunter is the best thing I’ve heard since this:

  • Exercises In Nihilism

The new EP by Amiensus is solid to me and speaking about Black Metal there is a new song by Svartsyn if you like it:

  • JWG

More looking forward to this than any other listed. Ex People, ‘Bird’:

  • Waynecro

FRACTAL GENERATOR!!! Thanks for another thorough roundup, dudes!

  • tigeraid

Also, I’m sure “Custard” is named after the General, but jesus that’s a terrible band name anyway.

    • Ted Nü-Djent ™

      It was General Custer lol

      • tigeraid

        I know. 😉

But that was my point–what possible other thing could they be named after? Surely not the dish?
