This Toilet Tuesday (4/19/16)

It’s Toilet Tuesday, and you know what that means: new music to gird your ear-loins with. Jom Pootersan, W, Lacertilian and I have picked out some of the choicest cuts just for you. The rest is on you; have at it!

Rostorchester – Verdorbenheit (Bergstolz) [Black Metal]
Listen to “Wes’ Gebein die Marmorsärge harren”

Initially introduced to my ears not a even a week ago, it was to my gleeful surprise to see this black metal project is releasing a brand new album (although this track has been on the Youtubes for a while). Rostorchester won’t blow you away with superb technical musicianship or originality, but their riffs are fun and the atmosphere is pleasing. It is clear the underground thrives within these gents. 4/20/16 (Jom Pootersan)

Autokrator – The Obedience to Authority (Godz ov War Productions) [Death/Doom]

Last year, Autokrator released an uncompromising polemic against authoritarian abuse in the guise of an extreme industrial metal album. Less than a year later, the duo returns with a new album but similar approach. Extreme distortion and martial sounds are matched with mechanical, crushing death metal riffs and machine drums. I quite enjoyed the absurdly heavy, albeit single-minded self-titled release, so I look forward to hearing all of The Obedience of Authority. One thing that stands out on these first two tracks though is that the songs feature a bit more variety than those on the first album but sacrifice some of that wall of sound punch. Time will tell if that improves or lowers the quality of this release. FFO: N.K.V.D., Nihil Novi Sub Sole, Stagnant Waters 4/20/16 (W.)

Zealotry – The Last Witness (Lavadome Productions) [Death Metal]
Listen to “Cybernetic Eucharist,” “Yliaster”

The hype around these parts for Zealotry’s The Last Witness is quite high, and for good reason. As you heard on the ToH radio show yesterday, Zealotry are masters of captivating, mind-warping dissonant death metal. Don’t mistake their prowess for flashiness, though; like the other bands that occupy the upper echelons of bizarre death, they know first and foremost how to craft catchy and well-written songs. May the giant void wasps take me now! FFO: Gorguts, Artificial Brain, Nucleus 4/22/16 (W.)

coffin lust

Coffin Lust – Manifestation of Inner Darkness (Hells Headbangers) [Death Metal]

Despite my penchant for cramming super-technical tunes polished to a sheen into your ears every week, sometimes I need to come down from my pristine ivory tower and roil in the muck with the rest of you peasants. Coffin Lust provides me with just the outlet for that; it’s fast, it’s filthy, and it gives no fucks (Cosigned – Lizard). It also makes for a nice change of pace hearing this style of death metal where every solo isn’t played using the Kerry King Scale™4/23/16 (Spear)

Reptilian – Perennial Void Traverse (Edged Circle Productions) [Death Metal]

Late to the party here but whilst perusing Spear’s list below guess what caught my eye? Reptilian. As your resident lizard, it would most certainly be remiss of me not to investigate such a band. And I’m pretty damn glad that I did just that, as the clutch of 6 tracks laid by Norway’s Reptilian are about to hatch, unleashing an arcane evil on you unsuspecting primates. The riffing on debut album opener “Swamp” is as malicious as it is primal. The leads are fittingly demented, and the vocals sound like what you’d expect if someone had laced Chuck Schuldiner’s breakfast with a particularly potent dose of PCP. Don’t let the sludgy intro fool you, things go berserk around the 2 minute mark and from that moment on, you’ll feel as though the psychosis has manifested in your mind too, in the best possible way of course. 04/22/2016 (Lacertilian)

  • Ol Dirty Blastbeard

whole lot of nothin for BB

Oodles of great DM so far this year

  • Dubs

I accidentally started trimming my beard with the guard set to #1 and now have an almost baby face. Hopefully Autokrator helps me regrow my facial hair quickly.

  • Power metal is SLACKING this year, but at least the death metal is killing it so far

    • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

I’m still trying to find that new Galneryus and give it a spin before I buy it, but that and the new Myrath are the only ones that’ve tickled my oodles and noodles so far this year.

      • Ol Dirty Blastbeard

        need my help?

Actually was reading this earlier today, speaking of NK. First time any westerner has been allowed to see all their subways. Kinda neato, kinda creepy, especially the stares from the locals that the guy was getting.

          • Ol Dirty Blastbeard

            this is actually pretty cool

          • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

I’d have to wonder if that’s another one of their show pieces for tourists, though. They apparently had their subways closed to tourists for a long time, for what appears to be no real reason.

          • Ol Dirty Blastbeard

im sure its all part of the propaganda machine

          • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

Most likely, like everything there. Even the groceries stores there are a propaganda piece and not accessible to 99% of the public, oddly enough.

          • Ol Dirty Blastbeard

gotta feel bad for those guys/hot korean women ill never get to oggle at

          • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

Yep! Even if KJU gets toppled and they get liberated, they’re probably gonna be too busy running around/confused/completely culture shocked to think about getting some American ding dong.

          • Ol Dirty Blastbeard

ill get back to you about it when i get home

            AWESOME!!! YOU RULE!!!!

      • Neither band have moved past the 90s and refuse to stream their albums somewhere for people to listen to :/

        • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

I think Myrath might’ve put their whole CD up on their Youtube page, but haven’t checked. They did for ‘Tales Of The Sand’. Speaking of, they released a making of video a couple of days ago:

    • Spear

Helion Prime, Zephaniah, and Eternity’s End have all been good, at least.

      • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

Oh, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, forgot about those three! DOH!

    • hieronymus bossk

I can’t tell if it’s a slower part of the year, or if not too many releases are ribsticking goodness this year so far. A few albums were pretty underwhelming.

So far Plebeian Grandstand, Julie Xmas/Cult of Luna, David Bowie, and Årabrot are the only albums to stick with me and continue to make me tingly in the pants. May and June should change that with Gorguts, White Lung, Swans, and a few others.

      • Hubert

I can’t wait for Gorguts and Swans! Agree that this year hasn’t been that exciting yet.

        • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

Hopefully Gira doesn’t end up in the pokey before the new album gets done. 🙁

Dominhate sounds like a straight up MA cover band

  • hieronymus bossk

      • Dubs

Did you also cry when Dinobot sacrificed himself to protect the proto-humans?

          Sounds like Daily Fail headlines.

      • brokensnow

    • tigeraid

I fucking loved this show. It was better written and built better on the mythology than the original tune. Come at me.

  • I think I like snare sound better on that new Autokrator release much more than the first album. Somehow that band got even more crushing which is saying something. Also, I’m surprised Iron Bonehead Productions didn’t pick them up since they helped get their first album out. This band is one of the very rare cases that I can appreciate an industrial styled type of metal. Got to give that Coffin Lust a go as well. Also, Nyogthaeblisz released a new track off of an upcoming compilation album that features 3 unreleased demos. Hells Headbangers premiered a song of of their new Full-length album as well. Been playing both songs on repeat this morning. Evil and harsh as expected.

    • Dubs

I think the machine drums sound more natural on this album than the last album, for sure. Have you ever checked out NKVD? It was Loic F.’s similar one-man project prior to Autokrator.

      • Yeah, it was long ago since I heard them though. I gave Hakmarrja a listen and remember it being really crushing but also a bit boring, like it dragged on.

        • Dubs

Vlast is really the only one I liked.

          • Never listened to anything else from them, got it bookmarked here.

    • Rob M

Just heard about the new Nyogthaeblisz song…cant wait to check it out. Coffin Lust album is pretty badass

  • how many other people dropped everything (to listen) once they got to this point (RFI):

    • Hubert

I have little to drop, I am always prepared for the SKRONK

  • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

69 Eyes is still around?! Gah, I thought they died off with Jack Off Jill, HIM and the rest of the shitty Hot Topic goth-metal bands of the late 90’s/early 2000’s.

  • Hubert

This toilet Tuesday toilets my Tuesday.

  • Not really my thing, but you skronky nerds should check out Mortichnia. Has a Deathspell Omega vibe to it.

    • Spear

I was going to write about that one, but I couldn’t get past “i like this u should 2”

    • oh man i’m glad you said something. it’s glorious.

  • Dat Autokrator flucking rips.

    Jesus. H. Christo.

New Vader album, ”THE EMPIRE”, confirmed for release on Sept 23

    • squeeeeeeeeeeee

    • Dubs

This is news I can use.

    • Saw that. Rad.

    • Speaking of Vader, I saw this phenomenal drum cover this weekend. This fucker one foots these Vader blasts. Unreal.

      • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

Wasn’t that the way Doc did it most of the time?
I was watching a Dies Irae live video last week, and he always seemed so mellow and laid back on the drums, even when he was blasting the fucking shit out of his drums.

        • I don’t know any of the names you are talking about.

          • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

            Doc = Vader’s former drummer.
Dies Irae = band that had him and Vitek (from Decapitated) on drums (at separate times of course)

          • Oh, gotcha RIP. I don’t know man. He might have. Vader has progressively gotten faster with each release. I’ve seen a lot of the newer drummers two footing that shit for Vader.

          • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

Dies Irae is pretty badass as well. Sadly, I very highly doubt they’ll ever get back together though.

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Doc is usually spoken of as Vader’s “the” drummer, perhaps because of his one footing. Among other things.

          • Rad, I never really paid too much attention or did much research on the matter.

      • Rob M

        Thats pretty damn killer

    • Hubert

    • Lisa Ling: Devourer Of Souls

And they’re gonna be on the new Avulsed CD as well.

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Man, they’re working like hell. Tibi et igni, Future of tye Past II and now The Empire. Don’t see many bands keeping up three albums in as many years pace anymore.

  • New Humanity’s Las Breath EP dropped 2 weeks ago. Pgood.

  • CyberneticOrganism
