Welcome once again, friends, to This Toilet Tuesday. Karhu, W, and I have scraped the bowl this week for the chunkiest bits, and we found some diamonds beyond all the messy spatters and corny pieces. There’s plenty more to be had below, though, so let’s dig in and get this thing started.

amoral

Amoral – In Sequence (Imperial Cassette) [Prog Metal]
Listen to “Rude Awakening”

Amoral’s career has been full of jumps. From tech death to death n roll to power metal to prog. I’ve only recently become interested in the band, with their prog-ier output. In Sequence sees the return of Niko Kivelä as a third guitarist/second vocalist and while “Rude Awakening” is far from complex, it’s a damn catchy piece of melodic metal. 2/5/16 (Karhu)

bosque

Bosque – Beyond (Dunkelheit Produktionen) [Doom]
Stream

If you looked at that album cover and thought you were gazing upon a new Brooklyn black metal release, think again. Bosque play funeral doom of a contradictorily low fi and majestic fashion. Huge, booming riffs doled out alongside a cautious rhythm lead you ever higher up a mountain toward enlightenment. These 40 minutes are well worth the climb.  FFO: Lord of the Abyss, This White Mountain, Ahab 2/1/16 (W.)

sealclubber

Sealclubber – Stoical (Medusa Crush Recordings) [Sludge]
Listen to “Vows of Silence”

If you can ignore the morally questionable band name and check out Sealclubber, you’ll find sludge of a decidedly righteous quality. Crushing, percussive riffs glower like storm clouds over an eruption of surprisingly melodic and emotive instrumental passages. I’m very excited to see where the rest of this release goes. FFO: The Lion’s Daughter, Opium Lord, Order of Orias 2/5/16 (W.)

obscura

Obscura – Akróasis (Relapse Records) [Progressive Tech Death]
Listen to “Sermon of the Seven Suns,” “Akróasis,” “The Monist,” “Ten Sephiroth,”  “Ode to the Sun”

It has been far too long since Obscura graced us with a new album, but not surprising given the departure of Christian Muenzner and Hannes Grossmann. Fortunately, that hasn’t negatively impacted their sound in the least, having found suitable replacements in Tom Geldshlager and Sebastian Lanser. The most immediately noticeable aspect of Akróasis is the fretless guitar, which adds an off-kilter quality to some of the riffs and leads to some unbelievable solos. What gets me the most though is the stylistic shift. The absence of the former guitarist and drummer is apparent, but this has only opened new doors for the band. I forsee Akróasis being a game changer for the world of tech death; there are sure to be many imitators, but few will come close to this. 2/5/16 (Spear)

Did we forget a new release? Is there a way we could improve this list? Let us know in the comments below!

(Images VIA, VIA, VIA, VIA)

  • I have to go to a meeting right now, but I wanted to drop this off for you maniacs: Two new Nocturnal Graves songs, and yes they absolutely rip! Reminds me of a more death metal version of Dissection; especially on that first track. Very good shit!

Will be released in May 2016 to coincide with upcoming US Tour dates in limited edition of only 200 copies.

    • Scrimm

      More death metal DIssection>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    • RepostedAvengedSevenfoldFan2

song got me so pumped up I threw doritos at my cat

      -box chevys, 2 weeks ago

    • Downvote? Hahaha!

      • Mayk Benynton

        Posers!
        That’s all what they are.

        • Just find it odd is all since it’s a new release post and I posted some new shit.

      • too br00tal?

    • sweetooth0

They play Sunday at Edison this MDF.

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Sealclubber is a terrific band name.

  • COAL ROLL

    Spoopy

  • Scrimm

Starting the day off right, thanks to Dubs. Couple things look intersting this week. https://fda-rekotz.bandcamp.com/album/eternitys-gate

    • Dubs

I accidentally bought it for myself too. Thankfully it’s pretty rad.

      • Scrimm

Well dang at least you enjoyed it.

  • YourLogicIsFlushed

Aw yeah, can’t wait for that Textures on Friday. Been waiting forever for new music by those nerds.

    • Owlswald

Those rhythms in Shaping a Single Grain of Sand are wacko awesome. They don’t appear to be able to release shitty music even though some of their song titles could use some work.

  • Sir Tapir The Based

    Amoral <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

    • Capra Hircus Hubertus

You do realize that your comment only makes me want to check them out?

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

You’re just mad ’cause Hevi-Ari is not going away.

  • YourLogicIsFlushed

Holy shit. That Pirate Metal album cover. I bet they put on one hell of a live show.

  • COAL ROLL

I got this in my email this morning, trees ‘n keys BM – https://apocalypticwitchcraft.bandcamp.com/album/the-prowess-of-dormition

  • This week I pick Obscura, liked all the songs they posted, Spear.

I’m also checking this Amoral, is fun, but the mix is kinda weird and “aquatic”, I don’t know. Fangörn is cool, but it lacks some riffs, would check it out, still. New Sequestered Keep is always good. Moon Tooth is cool, interesting rhythms.

Good week, Spear & co. Good job.

    • YourLogicIsFlushed

I am also enjoying that Moon Tooth. As a fellow didgeridoo owner, I someday wish to have this credit on an album like they do: “Didgeridoo on ‘Belt Squeezer’ provided by Garrett Kuppelmeyer “

      • <3 Moon Tooth

      • Moon Tooth = zero gravity teeth

        • Dubs

I’m pretty sure there’s still gravity on the moon. I don’t want to ask a scientist, though.

          • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

            16.6% earfs gravity

          • Dubs

That’s just a Stanley Kubrick-created myth. You and I both know the moon is hollow.

          • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD
          • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

            And made of cheese.

          • Me neither, they’ll probably say the evidence is inconclusive.

          • megachiles

We went out with some space-scientists a few weeks ago for drinks. I spent the whole time asking them about gamma ray bursts and the potential 9th planet in the solar system.

            Space is weeiiird.

      • megachiles

I wasn’t aware Moon Tooth was releasing new music! With digeridoos no less. Yay, something to jam while I’m sick at home.

      • Owlswald

I just found this band and the 3 pre-release tracks on Bandcamp are killer. I love finding unique bands that walk their own path.

  • Guppusmaximus

Prong released a new song. It’s pretty good but it reminded me of bands that get overlooked that have at least one rad album (Beg to Differ), imho. Here’s another:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKte9Aoj2MI&list=PL5X-x9hk5SIfcIVH6-Un5WNE7RvsbaZ8W

    • Dubs

I like Prong. Their discography is hit and miss, but when they hit, they know how to write anthems.

      • Guppusmaximus

‘Beg to Differ’ is a killer album. I still listen to it to this day. Yea, Tommy has a riff generator embedded in his brain:) Actually, due to a lot of the modern engineering techniques I find myself going back to the classics more often.

        • Dubs

Same, though I liked “Carved into Storm” quite a bit.

          • Guppusmaximus

I thought that was a nice return to form while being a bit heavier, if I remember correctly. I’m just old (not really)& biased and love the production values & techniques of the early 90s, so, I groove hard to BT…lol

          • Dubs

Probably going to see them in April. I missed their show here last October.

    • I’m a Rude Awakening guy. I think they really nailed the mixing metal with industrial on that one.

      • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Lol,for a moment I figured you meant that Amoral song, and was left confused.

        • For a moment, I thought I replied to the wrong comment. All cleared up now.

  • Capra Hircus Hubertus

    Those Obscura tracks sound rad.

    • I miss your compatriot Jeroen on that band, but the guitars sounds great. I am sold with this new Obscura release only because of that.

    • Lord Ov Kapsko

Obscura’s Akroasis show’s all the haters who’s the big dog.

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

    New Stone Magnum. Crushing doom!
    https://stonemagnum.bandcamp.com/

  • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

Man, nothing really wagging my beard here

    • Mayk Benynton

      Not even Pirate Metal?

      • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

        More like false pirates

        • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

I guess there is more Sequestered Keep, which is nice

          • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

That Fuath album aint bad, either

          • Spear

I enjoyed that one. Not as good as Saor, but still worth a few listens.

          • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

            Saor is damn good tho

          • The newest Saor album is pretty damn majestic. I’ll have to revisit that one again.

          • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

HH has the vinyl, i thought ab grabbing it

          • Looks like it’s still there. Not sure I enjoyed it enough to spend $26.66 on it though.

          • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

            My thoughts exactly

          • RJA

I have the vinyl of both of his records. Great packaging, great pressings. IMO, worth the cash.

Edit: Hell’s is the cheapest you’re going to find it FYI. Seen it at 30.00 other places.

          • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

Yeah. Maybe if i had an abundance in my record budget

          • RJA

I understand! Can’t buy everything. It’s always hard when you can pick up a cd for 12 bucks and the vinyl is pushing 30.

          • LVL 11 BLACKBEARD

I dont ever buy cds tho. Youre right, tho, cant buy everything.

  • Mayk Benynton

I don’t get what’s so bad on the lolbuttz, it’s just death metal, with an unusual production.

  • Boss the Turbid Ross

Dickcrush records has a sale going on, all 99 albums for $9.90 on bandcamp

    • Dubs

That is a hell of a sale. Also, dude, forgot to respond to your email, but yet. That’s rad, and you’re rad.

      • Boss the Turbid Ross

        No problem!

      • Can confirm. He’s rad.

    • You heard that, gentleman!

Get your dick crushed for $9.90!

      (balls not included).

  • Definitely want hear the rest of that Sealclubber. And don’t sleep on Seven Sisters Of Sleep either.

  • Spear

Full Obscura stream will be going up later today for those interested.

    • Spear

I mean, not here, but I’ll post a link in the group when it happens.

    • It’s rill gud

    • Thanks, mighty Spear.

    • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

Heard a couple of the new tracks. Good, but sadly the bass isn’t up front like it was before. That was what bowled me over before, so I dunno.

  • Mayk Benynton

Etching Obscurity is pretty good, it has good melodies.

  • Can’t seem to find that Khthoniik Cerviiks album on bandcamp. ANNOYED

    • Dubs

Iron Bonehead play kind of fast and loose with release dates.

  • New Judicator artwork just released

    • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

As the guy on the bottom right dares the enemy to pull his finger, unleashing the full extent of his might, and a suit of armor filled with Medieval Times turkey leg farts.

      • This is the first “pull my finger” joke I’ve laughed at since I was 6

        • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

You have not truly lived then, brave sir knight!

    • tigeraid

      YUSSSSSSS.

    • CyberneticOrganism

      “…and there was much rejoicing.”

  • Salvador Dalí Lama

Whoa. That opening riff of the Seaclubber song sounds awfully familiar.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVmie3RgX-4

  • PSA: If, for some reason, you refresh Disqus on TovH like a million times a day, please stop doing that.

  • New Panphage song. Very cold track.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5we-D7-Vy70

  • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

And Circus Maximus released a new video, their first with Joe Thrashnkill (in the middle. Or is that Keither Sutherland, or both?) on vocals:

    http://assets.blabbermouth.net/media/circusmaximusband2015_638.jpg

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=34&v=EQmkFW0kJas

    • Dubs

      I’m 99% sure his name isn’t “Keither”

      • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

Oh, you know what I mean!

        • Dubs

Jack Bauer is going to pistol-whip you for this egregious error.

          • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

Jack Bauer’s not going to be in the new 24, so I’ll keep an eye out for him in front of the food pantry. #WillTortureForFood

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

      Those dudes are fucking sexy.

      • Sir Tapir The Based

        Their music is fucking shitty.

        • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Hey, as long they look good, amirite?

          • Dubs

            You aren’t wrong.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

I know. Those dudes be mad hot.

          • Sir Tapir The Based

As long as their music videos will be directed by Guac Jim and feature a lot of bruised man asses.

          • Guacamole Jim

They’ve actually signed me on to do a three video deal, all featuring bruised man ass.

          • Hairy bruised man ass.

          • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

Bruised guac butts and their bruised butts at the same time?!?

            http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/yy262/expressionofmyemotions/wlqc2a.gif

          • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

Will you be the one doing the bruising? If not, no deal!

          • Sir Tapir The Based

            Stabwounded asses

          • Betty White’s Chewy Booger
        • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

Outside of ‘Isolate’, yup. And even that has a good amount of filler.

      • Betty White’s Chewy Booger

        You’re mesmerized by that swoosh-hawk?

  • Waynecro

I’m ultrajazzed about the new Obscura, and Divinity is sounding pretty good as well.

  • JWEG

There was a probably-human-created-glitch on Amazon.ca for a little while last month wherein the Obscura album was listed as $5. I tried to pre-order it at that price, only to have it yanked and re-posted at something like $23.

    • Dubs

I caught a loophole like that with High on Fire. if you’re a prime member, I think they have to honor it.

      • JWEG

Technically their Preorder Price Guarantee should have been reason enough.

I figure I will just get it from Bandcamp some time this month though…

  • tigeraid

I kinda dig that Arrayan Path.

  • CyberneticOrganism
  • pïgchop™

Perhaps someone here in the toilet can solve a mystery…well, a mystery to me. In the photo below I recognize Tom Araya, Dave Mustaine, Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King. I think the guy standing directly behind Jeff is Gar Samuelson. Who are the other two? Perhaps the guy behind Kerry is David Ellefson?

  • Lord Ov Kapsko

If the next riff ov the week will be facemelting riff orientation, than new Obscura will have at lest all ov top 3 places.

  • Ted Nü-Djent ™

    What’s the deal here?
