This Toilet Tuesday (1/5/16)

Welcome to 2016’s inaugural This Toilet Tuesday! The new music has already begun to flow like milk and honey with a very strong showing this week. W, Stockhausen, Karhu, and I have picked out our favorites for your enjoyment, though there’s a lot of good stuff to be had in the list below. Enjoy!

Writhe – Writhe (Independent) [Grindcore]

Do you remember that time last summer when you were sweating your balls off at the community pool, watching people dive into the shallow end wearing tennis shoes because of all the broken beer bottles and used syringes at the bottom? Do you remember how time stood still for those few moments when Stacy-lynne McHotpantserton, the smokin’ lifeguard working the pool as a summer job before her backpacking trip to Europe during her gap year, walked out of the hut and took her seat on the elevated platform like some bronze goddess from the land of Sheba? Do you remember how your feet carried you to the diving board despite your friends’ protests that you don’t actually know how to swim? Do you remember the way you pumped your concave chest and yelped, “This is for you, Stacy-lynne” before attempting to launch into a fancy cork-screw triple salchow dive? Do you remember how you awkwardly flopped off the board, its sprung edge pendulating back up into your scrotum, splitting the vulnerable skin and causing a cascade of blood to spurt out between the thin holes in the mesh netting of your swim trunks? Do you remember how you completely missed the water and landed neck-first on the edge of the pool, severing most of your neck vertebrae and ensuring a lifetime of paralysis, incontinence, and sterility while placing untold burden on your over-extended, grieving family members and friends? Do you remember how the only thing that kept you alive through that entire ordeal was the look of horrified concern on Stacy-lynne’s cherubic face? Listening to Writhe by Writhe is kind of like that memory. FFO: Weekend Nachos, Nails, Theories 1/3/16 (W.)

the lion's daughter

The Lion’s Daughter – Existence Is Horror (Season of Mist) [Sludge]
Listen to “Mass Green Extinctus”

A Black Sea, The Lion’s Daughter’s collaborative effort with folk group Indian Blanket remains one of the most beautifully-crafted pieces of music I’ve heard in the last few years. If the title track from Existence is Horror is any indication, this new album goes much heavier on the brutal side than the group’s previous release. Interestingly, this seems to coincide with a rejection of the folk elements in favor of hardcore stylings more in-line with sludge than black metal. I’m very keen to hear how the rest of this album plays out. FFO: Deluge, The Ocean, Sorrow Plagues 1/8/16 (W.)

bode preto

Bode Preto – Mystic Massacre (Iron Tyrant Records) [Black Metal]

Bode Preto gives no fucks, means no business and gives no sheits. Imagine a less blackened, slightly modern Sarcofago, or a thrashy, frantic Goat Semen who knew better than to let the songs pass the three-minute mark and you’ll get the right idea. Original? No. Hell of a time? Yes. 1/4/16 (Karhu)

venomous concept

Venomous Concept – Kick Me Silly; VCIII (Season of Mist) [Grindpunk]
Listen to “Leper Dog”

Oh hello band that features members of Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, and Corrupt Moral Affair. I would like your tunes crammed down my screaming, bleeding gullet, thanks for asking. Why yes, I do enjoy raucously swaggering riffage over hell-bent, d-beat fury. Chug some whisky and hate mosh some posers who don’t like grindy fun? Little ol’ me? I thought you’d never ask. 1/8/16 (Stockhausen)

Aborted – Termination Redux (Century Media Records) [Death Metal]
Listen to “Termination Redux” (probably NSFW)

I hadn’t really listened to Aborted until The Necrotic Manifesto, but that instantly became one of my favorite albums of 2014. If Termination Redux’s title track is any indication, this little EP stands a good chance of topping its predecessor. While everything from the production to the writing style indicates that Redux will tread the same path as its predecessor, some small improvements- namely the variety of the riffs and general flow of the song- make it stand out. If the rest of the EP follows suit, I can see myself playing it into the ground. 1/8/16 (Spear)

Affliction Gate – Dying Alone (Transcending Obscurity) [Death Metal]
Listen to “Negative Lucidity”

Amoretta – Seventeen Seventy (Independent) [Djent]
Listen to “Wit’s End”

Ancestors Blood – Hyperborea (Naturmacht Productions) [Folk Metal]
Listen to “Autumn (Metsäpirtti part II),” “Rite of Passage”

Blackhour – Sins Remain (Transcending Obscurity) [Heavy Metal]
Listen to “Sins Remain”

Brutus – Murwgebeukt (Willowtip Records) [Brutal Death Metal]
Listen to “Judaswieg”

Cauldron – In Ruin (The End Records) [Heavy Metal]
Listen to “No Return/In Ruin”

Cloudscape – Voice of Reason (Dead End Exit) [Prog Metal]
Listen to “A New Design”

Dvalin – Aus dem Schatten (NoiseArt Records) [Folk Metal]
Listen to “Unter Den Eichen”

Exmortus – Ride Forth (Prosthetic Records) [Thrash]
Listen to “Relentless”

Force and Fire – Disintegration Process (Throne Records) [Sludge]

Griffon – Har HaKarmel (Hass Weg Productions) [Black Metal]

Hag – Fear of Man (DNAWOT Records) [Noise Rock]
Listen to “Fear of Man,” “Kingdom-O”

Ignite – A War Against You (Century Media Records) [Hardcore Punk]

Invocation Spells – Descendent the Black Throne (Hells Headbangers) [Black Metal]
Listen to “The Betrayal of Bastard,” “Descendent the Black Throne”

It Lies Within – Paramount (Luxor Records) [Synchronizedbouncecore]
Listen to “Ecdysis”

Jeff Hughell – Trinidad Scorpion Hallucinations (Independent) [Progressive Metal]
Listen to “Burn the Soul”

Massdistraction – Your Time (Independent) [Melodeath]
Listen to “I Am Goliath”

Metal Castle – III (Independent) [Folk Metal]

Midnight Callings – Pilgrims of the Black Hole (Into Dungeons Records) [Black Metal]
Listen to “Pilgrims of the Black Hole”

The Order of Elijah – War At Heart (Luxor Records) [lolbuttz]
Listen to “From The Dawn”

Shotgun Justice – State of Desolation (Kernkraftritter Records) [Heavy Metal]
Listen to “Nemesis (A Global Killer)” (live)

Spreading Dread – Age of Aquarius (Bret Hard Records) [Thrash]
Listen to “Devolution”

Tank – Sturmpanzer (Independent) [Heavy Metal]
Sweet Jesus

Temple of Evil – The 7th Awakening (Deathhammer Records) [Black Metal]

Wolves of Winter – Wolves of Winter (Independent) [Doom]

Did we forget a new release? Is there a way we could improve this list? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Bode Preto rips! I can totally see the Goat Semen comparison.

Bandcamp e-mail me about CHTHE’ILIST ’cause Profound Lore. this rips, and maybe even Tyree and KSoFM like it…

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Checking out now. Not too bad. And Profound Lore is a killer label anyway.

      • Please tell me you knew about Chthe’ilist before now

        • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Seeing that I barely listen to a lot of death metal as of the past few years, no.

          • My entire image of you is entirely shattered

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

That’s nothing new around here. And why should you be surprised?

          • I thought it was common knowledge that Chthe’ilist was god tier death metal

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Well, maybe they are, but I’ve been going through a big black metal phase the last few years. Or basically anything that sounds nasty. The last death metal I got excited about it Pissgrave, which isn’t that long ago…

          • That must be so heartbreaking for you bro.

    • I’ve seen the name thrown around a lot so I avoided it. Will check out in a bit.

    • People who like death metal don’t know Chthe’ilist hurt me. Hopefully the debut album will come out and people will start picking up on them.

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Well, seeing as there are roughly 2.4 billion metal bands out there, a few can slip through the cracks some times.

        • sure, happens all the time. I’m hoping Chthe’ilist doesn’t remain one of those bands

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Well, like I said Profound Lore is a killer label, people always seem to take note, when they release shit.

          • I guess to be fair, they’ve only released a demo so far. my MDF crew is really attuned to underground death metal stuff, so I catch all of it

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Well, that helps when you have multiple people checking shit out.

          • I just check in on what certain friends have been posting about in certain groups when I need to switch up genres

          • Have you ever given A.M.S.G. a shot? I listened to their Profound Lore release last weekend to see what the praise was all about. I couldn’t get into it. Fucking Saxophone was annoying as hell too. I have massive respect for Ryan Page A.K.A Angelfukk Witchhammer since he was part of some killer bands like Ouroboros but A.M.S.G. really did nothing for me. I can’t figure out the hype. All well.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            You lost me at saxophone.

          • I tried it. That was my problem.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Damn it is good so far, oh well.

          • 3:50 into the very first song is were everything becomes shit-house.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

I enjoy shit-houses……hahahaha just got to the part. How fucking out of place can you get? Fucking balls.

          • Yes, hail to shit. Guess I should have phrased it as “Pleasant House” or “Jazz Fucked”.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            Jazz Fucked sounds good.

          • Glad that’s settled.

      • well after the Vhol incident, consider us even.
i was jamming this band’s demo yesterday. and now i am one excited bro.

        • I should have approached this with a different attitude, but I guess I was under the impression that everyone already knew this band (my newsfeed gets them all the time.) I’m thrilled you guys are getting into them

          • sometimes you have to let us know when a band doesn’t involve sensual, meaningful love-making with storied creatures (plus don’t forget who you’re talking to: i OWN a few Periphery CD’s)

          • thin ice buddy 😉

          • just trying to put a spin on a stale joke.

          • Scrimm

            Everyone needs coasters.

          • Scrimm ole pal. i don’t see you for weeks and this is what i get!!!

          • Scrimm

I promise to be meaner next time.

          • that’s better!

    • Heavy artwork! Dangdimdangitty

      • Maik Beninton™

Looks a lot like Artificial Brain’s album, same artist?

        • There’s no mention of the artist but it looks like his (Paolo Girardi) work.

Edit: Yeah, it’s by Paolo Girardi, he’s gotta a picture of the painting on his facebook page.

        • My take is that is depicts an apocalyptic version of The Wizard of Oz’s castle.

    • The leads are really gooood tooooo

    • Eliza

      Really liking this.

  • Maik Beninton™

My god, those synchronized jumps on that It Lies Within video, it’s like jumpdafukup but worse.

    • Ear Cancer: cancer involving the ear and subsequent metastasizing to the brain.
Symptoms: strong urges to swoop hair, windmill, bounce and/or jumpdafuqup, embrace the void, and/or give up on life.
Causes: buttzcore band It Lies Within.

    • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom

      Ooooooooooooooooooook, checking it out now……………

  • Killer story involving Stacy-lynne McHotpantserton.

  • Early 2016 Album Artwork of the Year candidate.

  • 365ChaosRiddenDays

Ah, you think that all is going fine but suddenly “Aborted” stays stuck in your head that will explode, too much heaviness.

    • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom

I’ve liked them since The Saw And The Damage Done, but kinda rare that I ever listen to them.

      • 365ChaosRiddenDays

I think they are very able to mix “Grind” and “Death” and some albums are very good:
        Necrotic Manifesto
        Global Flatline
        Coronary Reconstruction
        Slaughter and Apparatus
        The Archaic Abbattoir
The Saw & The Carnage Done

If you don’t know some of the albums in this list try to give them a chance.

  • I can finally listen to music through my work computer. Youtube/bandcamp/website streams, I’m coming home

  • Sir Tapir The Based

    Bowie this FridAYYYYYY

  • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom

That Order Of Elijah wasn’t as lolbuttz as I thought it would be. Still pretty lolbuttz, though. Sounds like something Joe would listen to at the gym, actually!

And Brutus The Barber Beefcake has a brutal death metal band?!?!

    • Maik Beninton™

I though it was, it manages to be worse than It Lies Within.

    • Janitor Jim Duggan

      Wait, what?

      • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom

        That band Brutus.

        • Janitor Jim Duggan

That band has Brutus Beefcake in it?

          • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom

      • Maik Beninton™

        Popeye’s enemy.

  • I think it was the Lizard that posted about Invocation Spells a while back. Really digging the thrashy onslaught that this band delivers. Should be a killer straight to the point blackened thrash release.

    • Lacertilian

Yeah man, they pushed the release date back from December. I’m keen as fuck to hear the rest. Need some Summer respite.

  • Maik Beninton™

Pretty sure I’ve seen that Bode Preto cover before, in another album though, but I might be mistaken. Btw 14 bucks for an album, talk about overpriced stuff.

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Listening now. Killer shit. Dig the artwork too.

      • around 4 mins the wood block kicks in. It is dank.

        • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

          This track is amazing.

          • Goddamnit.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

What, bro? Too many tunes as always?

          • Indeed. Listening now. Menacing and grim as all fuck so far. The atmosphere on this is absolute perfection.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Yeah, this track is perfect. I really love the drum production. Buried and cavernous….

          • YES! Trying to find this album now. No real luck so far. Looks like a lot of the U.S. distros sold out of it. It’s mostly on cassette to from what I can see.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

It’s available from the label directly from Germany, trying to order now….

          • Just found that site too. Let me know how it works out for you. I may try and order as well.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Just completed the order. Fuck it.

          • Same. Hahaha! Goddammit.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            Fuck yes!

          • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom

            RIP, King Shit’s Wallet.

          • It was like $15.

          • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom
          • Not much of a joke.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

What wallet? I gotta start turning tricks now. Such is this voidinducing life…..

          • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom
          • cosigned

    • Eliza

You have them credit, it does sound like it was recorded in a dungeon.

    • Dubs

      Dis gud

  • Maik Beninton™

Spear what is that page that you linked on Tank?

    • Spear

Far as I can tell, that’s their website.

      • Maik Beninton™

They never changed the layout ever since they launched in 1997.

  • For those of yins that haven’t heard. Mgła “Exercises in futility” is avalible on vinyl now.

  • Guacamole Jim

The Lion’s Daughter is super rad!!

    • Indeed, there is something about it.

      • Dubs

Make you sure you check out their collaboration with Indian Blanket. So good.

        • Do they collab on all the songs? or just one? Is it the one linked here?

          • Dubs

It was just one album called A Black Sea. Can be found on bandcamp/Spotify.

          • *face palm* got it.

It is on bandcamp, too. On it now.

          • half way through first song, HOLY SHIT!

  • Eliza

    That’s some good sludge.

  • Tim Wilsön
  • Heroic Nipple Farts Of Doom

Well, you nailed the genre for It Lies Within, alright! And what’s with the chick running around in black face?!?! Is that Al Jolsen’s granddaughter? It Lies Within can…………

  • Scrimm

Glad that Brutus is finally being released.

    • You and me both. Still not sure about the production on this one but it’s still Brutus.

  • Newish, Metalish. Excellentish. For fans of being fans of things.

  • tigeraid

I couldn’t stop laughing at Tank’s sweet-ass Geocities-circa-1996 web site long enough to listen to a song. I sincerely hope it’s done ironically.

  • tigeraid

Can I say, I’m pleasantly surprised by that “Sins Remain” track by Blackhour? It’s a slow burn but good stuff. I dig it.
