Welcome once again to This Toilet Tuesday! You know the drill: Karhu, W, and I have taken on the insurmountable task of sifting through the shit so you don’t have to. That said, sometimes we miss something. Prove how much more kvlt you are than us by pontificating about it in the comments.

korgull

Körgull the Exterminator – Reborn from the Ashes (Van Records) [Black Metal]
Listen to “Reborn From The Ashes”

Varg the mighty, Varg the brave
Fighting the enemy with a solemn face
Varg the mighty, Varg the brave
With an axe or a sword
He’s the master of hate
His name resounds high among the stars
Son of darkness
Fighting like a beast
Wild and merciless wolverine
-Lilith Necrobitch 11/27/15 (Karhu)

shadowland

Shadowland – Last Night Before the Storm (Independent) [Atmospheric Black Metal]
Stream

This week, I decided to dive into new Bandcamp releases to see if anything interesting had dropped. I think I’ve been hanging out with Pagliacci too much, because a trees’n’stuff black metal album was the first thing that caught my attention. Russia’s Shadowland play an atmospheric brand of black metal that provides a suiting soundtrack for quiet introspection as snow falls gently from a somber sky. Cold acoustic passages and glimmering synths adorn the decidedly lo-fi compositions of Last Night before the Storm like the chilly glow of the aurora borealis. This album may be a little too serene for those of you craving filth and destruction, but listeners who enjoy pondering the enormity of nature will appreciate this in solemn solitude. FFO: Gris, Nordfrost, Mesarthim 11/22/15 (W.)

autopsy

Autopsy – Skull Grinder (Peaceville Records) [Death Metal]
Listen to “Waiting For The Screams”

Now for something that sounds completely different from Shadowland. At this point in their career, Autopsy aren’t delivering a whole lot of surprises, and that’s just fine. If “Waiting for the Screams” is any indication, Skull Grinder is loaded with bowel-shaking growls and neck-breaking riffs. The rhythm varies from quick to zombie-crawl slow, but it never ceases to keep your body moving. Get your skull ground. FFO: Asphyx, Obituary, Pungent Stench 11/27/15 (W.)

adrenochrome

Adrenechrome – Tales from Adrenechrome (Independent) [Doom]
Listen to “God Sized Shadow,” “The Lead Elephant”

When a band is so invested in the stoner aesthetic, I tend to pass them over without a second thought. When they sprinkle in the best parts of Mastodon with their sound, they give me pause. Adrenechrome have riffs for days, interspersing smoky grooves with surprisingly proggy passages and fierce, earthy vocals. Give this one a shot if you’re looking for a twist in the well-traveled path. 11/27/15 (Spear)

Abaddon RD – Tragic Eternal Mutation (Independent) [Heavy Metal]

  • BEARD-SPLITTER

Looking forward to that Shadowland when i get home. Thanks, W

  • Wow. New Autopsy is mean and nasty as fuck!

Yup, Chris Reifert doesn’t stop, the vocals all compliment the chaotic rhytmic approach.

    • A Chili Dog In Each Nostril

Haven’t listened to it yet, but knowing Autopsy, I’m expecting lo end, filthy and joyously sloppy.

    • ┼yree
      • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

        Enjoying my coffee…

        • KJM, Shake Zula

They peed on your fucking rug.

          • ┼yree

That’s right dude. They peed… On your fucking rug.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

He peed on the Dude’s rug.

          • ┼yree
          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

Were you listening to the Dude’s story?

          • ┼yree

            No, I was bowling.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

Donny, you are out of your element. Dude, the chinaman is not the issue here.

          • ┼yree

Mr. Treehorn treats objects like women, man.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

I still like to jerk off manually.

          • ┼yree

Also, let’s not forget – let’s *not* forget, Dude – that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city – that aint legal either.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

What are you a fucking park ranger now?

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

            That was fun. Thank you.

          • ┼yree

It was. Figured we better stop before we get in trouble.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

We don’t want them to block Lebowski.

          • ┼yree

I can’t go a day with out referencing that movie. That would suck for sure.

          • Every time a rug is micturated upon in this fair city, I have to compensate the owner?

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

            Are you employed sir?

          • ┼yree

Also, Dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

            Asian-American. If you will

          • ┼yree

You’re like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

            Over the line!

          • ┼yree

            …It’s a league game, Smokey.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

Put the piece away man, they’re calling the cops.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

            MARK IT ZERO!!!

          • ┼yree

            World of pain.

  • mmm, the Adult Contemporary pick should bring out the Tapir today

  • ┼yree

Well shit… I should be getting my copy of Abysmal Lord’s new album in the mail soon then.

  • Pagliacci is Kvlt

“I think I’ve been hanging out with Pagliacci too much,” said no one ever. FTFY.

    • ┼yree

No one likes to hang out in shitty Pennsylvania.

      • KJM, Shake Zula

Come to Somerville. We’ll go visit my friend in Lowell. We’ll get drunk, smoke up, and he can tell you Seth Putnam stories for about a week. Heck, you might even get to chat with Josh and Nate.

        • ┼yree
          • KJM, Shake Zula

Original 1st gen copies of a bazillion Anal Cunt, Adolph Satan, Full Blown AIDS, and other affiliated band shows, dude. All you’d have to do is bring some discs, and some beer, and you’d have all the copies you want.

          • ┼yree

            WHAT A DEAL!

“Naw… gnats? What the freak… Supposed to be the Giants! I freakin’ told them immigrants! No wonder they cut me a deal, what a deal! They probably don’t even have giants in their country, they’re so freakin’ tiny!”

          • KJM, Shake Zula

I’m still processing my grief over ATHF being over.

          • ┼yree

Yeah, sucks. Started watching season 3 this week again. Working my way up again.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

I have at least 200 GB worth of ATHF on my hard drive. I go with random eps depending on mood.

          • Guacamole Jim

            WUT

          • KJM, Shake Zula

Yeah, this year was officially the last. You haven’t seen me wailing about that? Perhaps I’m taking it better than I thought.

          • Guac Jim just needs to spend more time with us.

          • Guacamole Jim

I’ve been out of the loop on the comments here for a while.. clearly I need to remedy that.

      • A Chili Dog In Each Nostril

I like Pittsburgh, and been through there several times. Haven’t seen anything else there besides the Amish countryside and miles of empty fields.

        • ┼yree

          Yup… LOTS of Amish.

          • A Chili Dog In Each Nostril

            Beautiful countryside around that area.

          • ┼yree

            I’ll give it that.

  • CyberneticOrganism

Zgard is good shit – gotta get past the flute intro, but behind that is a solid song.

  • ┼yree

Ärid is some catastrophic stuff. Not sure if I like it yet, but I can’t seem to stop listening to it. Sounds like shit so that’s a plus.

    • ┼yree

Yeah, this is awesome. Really enjoying the desolation.

    • ┼yree

I can’t find any info on this guy or where to find physical copies of his music.

  • Guacamole Jim

That Adrenechrome artwork piqued my interest, and the music is pretty damn good!! Very Mastodon, but they’ve got their own thing going on. Handsome Spear triumphs again.

    • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

Will definitely be checking them out later today.

    • Ted Nü-Djent ™

  • Standing Ovation sounds like Weird Al playing prog metal and it is neither good nor funny.

  • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

My new Toilet ov Hell shirt came in last night. Wearing it to BLIND GUARDIAN tonight!

    • get ready Joe, there’s going to be about a thousand new visitors tomorrow!

    • BEARD-SPLITTER

BG one o the best shows ive ever been to

      • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

        I’m expecting the same results.

      • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

        It. Was. Amazing.

        They’re so good.

        • BEARD-SPLITTER

Im an atheist, but Hansi is as close to a god as any

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

            Ha, damn.

  • Man, I just have not been feeling the urge to listen to anything lately.

    • KJM, Shake Zula

There are parts of my day where I just need complete silence.

    • when this happens to me, i put on the soundtrack to either Hotline Miami game
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpRUKLKCY-w

      • The Hotline Miami games just make me want to dive into a genre I have no knowledge of outside of Perturbator, Lazerhawk and Carpenter Brut.

Actually, maybe I should look at that post from a couple days back CyberneticOrganism made.

        • it’s very possible that if you enter, you’ll be in there for a while
Kavinsky seems to snag most people, try him first!

    • EsusMoose

Sucks man, I’ve been digging the new TFN track, the new intronaut and Steak Number Eight album(Return to Kolomon and Gravity Giants are great tracks) and this djent-ish song, the group calls its style progressive death pop but lacks the death or pop side and sounds more on the lighter side of djent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEHIcu8qIBA

  • KJM, Shake Zula
    • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

      Fripp is amazing

      • KJM, Shake Zula

One of the best, if not the best, I’ve ever seen live.

        • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

Live with King Crimson, or another?

          • KJM, Shake Zula

            Various lineups of KC.
EDIT: which also means I’ve witnessed the insanity that is Adrian Belew.

          • Boss the “Inspectah” Ross

            That’s too cool.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

One time Living Colour opened for KC. Fripp, Belew, and Vernon Reid? That’s Guitar Heaven, right there.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

            Holy shit yes.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

            Nice identity change.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

I’m trying to change it up once a week or so. Didn’t know what i was going to do until now.

          • ROSS

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

            Yes?

          • HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

And a good day to you, sir!!!

          • KJM, Shake Zula

At this point, people seem to associate me with this grav so I keep it.

          • The changing of avatars is a mind fuck. The association images bring is pretty sweet.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

            My bad.

          • No worries! I was just commenting. Change away!

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

            Will do!
But don’t you ever change! We need you just the way you are!

          • we’ll know when GoT starts back up

          • KJM, Shake Zula

I know, right. Maybe I’ll go back to being Jon Snow for 10 weeks.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

I keep the Boss the Ross, so as not to completely confuse people.

  • Dave Vincent’s Perm

    NEW AUTOPSY HOLY SHIT

  • KJM, Shake Zula
    • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

This man was genius. Crazy, but genius

      • KJM, Shake Zula

Most geniuses are crazy. It’s usually just a matter of how well they can hold it together.

    • A Chili Dog In Each Nostril

Kickass remake of ‘Apples And Oranges’, one of his old songs with PF:

      https://www.song365.org/track/chandeen-apples-and-oranges-939031.html

      • KJM, Shake Zula

        I love Barrett era Floyd

        • A Chili Dog In Each Nostril

Gilmore era’s my favorite. I’m a rare breed on that one.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

I’m a huge Gilmour fan. I’ve taught myself to play a bunch of that early Gilmour era stuff.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

Very nice. Gilmour is my favorite guitar player.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

I’ve only seen him once.(1988 Momentary Lapse tour)

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

Damn, well, that’s one more than me. Thats awesome to hear though.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

I would’ve preferred seeing him on the 2006 ‘On An Island’ tour, better setlist.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

That would’ve been so cool. I have the live at Royal Albert Hall performance. It gives me goosebumps.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

            Gilmour is the man.

          • Ground Beef Booger Riot

His solo album isn’t half bad. Not as good as his PF stuff, but pretty dern good.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

Which solo album are you talking about? He’s had a few.

          • Ground Beef Booger Riot

Oh shit, he has?!?! I believe it was called On An Island.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

That’s a good one. He has his self titled, About Face, On An Island and his newly released Rattle That Lock

      • KJM, Shake Zula

A little too indie 90s for my blood, but otherwise not bad.

  • KJM, Shake Zula
    • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

You’ve inspired my alias for the week.

    • EsusMoose

Discipline was the first KC album I ever heard all the way through, good stuff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmN9QRWbreg

      • KJM, Shake Zula

Same here. I first heard them on “Fridays”, ABC’s attempt at an SNL type show, when I was about 14. I had no clue what to make of it, especially Tony Levin on Stick.

        • EsusMoose

I was like 18 or so and had heard parts of In the Court of the Crimson King. So I went to a local music store looking for it, they didn’t have the album but had Discipline so I said fuck it and bought it. I ripped it and went to a hill over looking a lake while I listened to it. I edited the shit out this trying to not have a run on sentence.

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

            Good job on the grammar.

          • EsusMoose

haha I can’t tell if it’s sarcasm as I’m used to murdering the english language

          • Boss the “Crimson King” Ross

No sarcasm, you did good. Just letting you know your editing worked well.

    • A Chili Dog In Each Nostril
  • A Chili Dog In Each Nostril

Fuck me up the Spaghetti-O’s, this new Autsopsy song SLAYS!!!! Nice, gutteral, and filthy as fuck, as I’ve come to expect from them.

  • Waynecro

Digging Shadowland, Disphere, Serocs, Shatter Silence, and Tyrant of Mary. Autopsy’s a given. I still intend to give that silly Danzig a listen.

  • COAL ROLL
