Greetings, friends, and welcome to another This Toilet Tuesday! Now, I know that half of you are off playing Fallout 4 already, so the former Head of State and I are here to give a soundtrack that neither sucks nor crashes every time you try to move to a new area. There are all sorts of bleak and disgusting songs waiting to accompany you on your journey across the nuclear wasteland. Oh, and say hi to this guy for me if you happen across him.

otargos

Otargos – Xeno Kaos (Kaotoxin Records) [Black Metal]
Stream

Otargos means goat in Greek. You probably don’t need any more convincing than that, but in case you do, let me say this. “Dominatrix” is a rip-roaring bad-time that bodes well for Xeno Kaos. This track is filled with boundless energy, unrepentant blasts, and a technicality often missing from black metal. Whether or not that’s a good thing is up to you, but I’m jamming. FFO: Ignis Uranium, Non Opus Dei, Anaal Nathrakh 11/13/15 (W.)

revenge

Revenge – Behold.Total.Rejection (Season of Mist) [Black Metal]
Listen to “Wolf Slave Protocol (Choose Your Side)”

HOLY CRAP. This is one of the gnarliest, most misanthropic things I’ve heard all year. Revenge go hard and hateful, simple as that. Each track kind of blends into the next, but when the drums and riffs are as inhumanly fast and unassailable as this, do you really care? FFO: Conqueror, Blasphemy, Diocletian 11/13/15 (W.)

firespawn

Firespawn – Shadow Realms (Century Media Records) [Death Metal]
Listen to “Ruination,” “Lucifer Has Spoken”

There has been no shortage of quality death metal this year, and Firespawn seek to add to the carnage with their debut, Shadow Realms. And add they do; while it probably won’t be as much of a knockout as, say, Horrendous, “Ruination” and “Lucifer Has Spoken” have no shortage of evil vigor. If you can forgive them a somewhat lolbuttzy music video, there’s a lot to enjoy here. 11/13/15 (Spear)

hegemon

Hegemon – The Hierarch (Season of Mist) [Black Metal]
Stream

When I hit play on The Hierarch, the opening notes of “Hatred from the Core” led me to expect a solid second-wave black metal style album. With the exception of a couple guitar fills out of Mikael Åkerfeldt’s playbook, that’s what I got… for the first couple minutes. The final moments of the song saw a full choir explode into the tune, and from there the album continued to defy my expectations for its duration. The songwriting is surprisingly varied, with plenty of acoustic guitars and clean vocals adding texture and beauty to the bleakness. Don’t pass this up. 11/13/15 (Spear)

  • Some metal news for ya. Craft signed to Season Of Mist + New Full-length.

  • I can’t wait for new Swallow the Sun triple album, bruh! I liked the three songs they posted, mostly the acoustic one.

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

The acoustic one was the weakest, I tought. Of that album I am expecting a few good songs and the rest I am just glad were put to their own album instead of interrupting the two other ones.

  • Celtic Frosty

Fallen Empire released the new Serpents Lair last night.

    https://serpentslair.bandcamp.com/album/circumambulating-the-stillborn

    • I listened to it with a many interruptions during work. I need to revisit it again here soon.

      • Celtic Frosty

I just started my first spin. So far so good.

        • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Yeah, it’s a killer release. Solid the whole way through.

    • RJA

and the Mare Cognitum on vinyl!

      • Celtic Frosty

Oh man…if I bought vinyl I’d be all over that. Fucking killer album.

        • BEARD-SPLITTER

          Dope shit

  • Maik Beninton™

Gentlemen, it has come to my attention that, as KJM said last night, Dopethrone is giving their latest album for free. Go get it.
    https://dopethrone.bandcamp.com/album/hochelaga-3

    • KJM, Shake Zula

Thanks, saved me the trouble of re-posting. As they said on their FB page, it won’t last long. DO IT.

      • Maik Beninton™

        I just did.

  • Vote for Jeb

Yo Spearrow, I’m jamming that Hegemon album. You’re right, it sure takes some 90-degree turns.

    • Spear

It certainly has a lot going on, but it’s not scatterbrained. I liked that one a lot.

  • BEARD-SPLITTER

That Dragged Into Sunlight/Gnaw their Toungues is fuckin BEAST

    • Vote for Jeb

      Review is coming.

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

New Abbath track. Not sure why I’m reporting this, I guess it’s just nice not to hear an Abyss Studio sound…..the song is meh, like the last two Immortal albums.

    http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/new-song-premiere-abbaths-winter-bane/

    • I’m listening. Sounds good to me so far.

    • Scroinklypoop McFartinPloppin

I wish he would get ‘I’ back together!

    • Maik Beninton™

Also who thought it would be cool to name your label Doomentia Records?

      • Vote for Jeb

        Stoners?

        • KJM, Shake Zula

Nah, sounds dumb in this stoner’s opinion..

          • Vote for Jeb

            Hmmm. Teenagers?

          • BEARD-SPLITTER

            Ben Carson

          • Vote for Jeb

            I’d buy that.

          • Scroinklypoop McFartinPloppin

Who will claim that the label was built by dinosaurs to store grain.

    • Dumb label name, but still better than naming it Owen Hard Records.

      • KJM, Shake Zula

Either way it makes them sound like a 3rd rate porn label.

        • Scroinklypoop McFartinPloppin

          Jim The Anvil Neihard Records.

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Owen Hard is such a better name.

      • Scroinklypoop McFartinPloppin

That might damn well be the most metalcore-screamo label name on Earth. I say copyright it before someone snatches it up!

  • Sir Tapir The Based

Only album I’m excited about this week is the new Death Hawks!

    • no Girlschool?

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Did you stream it yet? If not, I’ll spoil it fer you before I review it for you. Disappointing.

      • Sir Tapir The Based

Well, I shall hear for myself. Your opinions are usually really terrible.

  • I seriously can not wait to blast the shit out of that new Revenge album. Hopefully today it arrives.

    • This sounds great!

      • Expect nothing less than greatness from vektor

    • oh happy day. please tell me they’re working on new stuff

      • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

        Feb2016

    • This has both direction and magnitude. NICE.

      #seewhatididthere?

  • COAL ROLL

    Thank you

  • Maik Beninton™

That Lythronax is pretty good. Very doomy.

  • Dave Vincent’s Perm

The new Revenge album is like being sandblasted in the face
Also I got 7 months of Xbox live gold for £15 and it seems my graphics card may not be completely fucked.

  • Guacamole Jim

Otargos is ripping! Nice and heavy. Gracias, señor W.

  • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

Reject the Sickness and Mist of Nihil both sound p good so far. Melodeath-tag doesn’t seem to do justice to either though, RtS especially.

    • I didn’t clicked with Reject the Sickness. But this Mist of Nihil sounds cool for me.

    • Spear

I’m not sure how either of those aren’t melodeath.

  • KJM, Shake Zula

None of this week’s Stoner/Doom is ringing my bells.

  • Eliza

I should be studying now, but

  • 365chaosriddendays

If you like “Raw Black Metal” in the vein of “Darkthrone” there is this one-man Portuguese black metal act Black Cilice. Any riff is worthy to be heard, no avantgarde, just pure darkness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i22qwMAJGqQ

    • Lot’s of people here hated this. I for one loved it.

      • RJA

I guess I can see people not liking it, but I loved it. I immediately bought it and A corpse, A Temple and the 2LP Old Curses collection. This stuff is exactly what I’m after.

      • 365chaosriddendays

Sounds very raw, my favorite style of Black Metal, like this Danish venom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tjyAQ5krT8

  • Scrimm

    Yay I can comment again!!

    • Joe’s anti-Van Halen blocker was fun while it lasted…

      • Scrimm

        You wish

      • Sir Tapir The Based

Anti-van halen blocker? I’m insulted I was not blocked!

        • Scrimm

Nothing can block our hatred for VH

      • Scroinklypoop McFartinPloppin

Wait wait wah?!?!?! A VH block after a post about his triumphant date at a VH concert?!?! He’s been on a blocking spree it seems.

  • brokensnow

    GRRRRR GRRRR SQUEAK SQUAK……………………………………..GRR.
    https://youtu.be/CjhhvHkwp_8

  • Count_Breznak

I thought Girl School renamed themselves Zombieslut.

  • Waynecro

The singer in Graveshadow looks a little like Elaine from Seinfeld at times. She has equally awesome dance moves, too. So much dance moves in the woods.

  • Rob M

Slow week is pretty damn slow…but brand new Revenge will tide me over for awhile

  • dr.derelict

As your attorney I advise you to follow that link for Awe – Providentia.

  • Xinen

I really like that Firespawn album. Good grove and Necromance reminded me a bit of Decapitated. The solos are cool too, but then again I like that lead guitarist.

  • Scroinklypoop McFartinPloppin

Definitely checking out Ghost Machinery, especially after the kickassery of their last CD. I have to wonder if the Mago De Oz one is a re-interpretation of Finistera or if this is a whole new thing. Not too crazy about their new singer, but I’ll mosey on over and churk eet oot.
