This Toilet Tuesday (10/13/15)

You awake in a cold sweat to your own scream. Looking around you see nothing but blackness. There; your clock. You’re still in your room. Another nightmare has disturbed your rest. The news of this so-called “Bathroom Killer” has you rattled; four bodies in the past two weeks have turned up, each in the bathrooms of their homes, each split open with their organs removed. All of them have been in your neighborhood. Still nervous, you get up and check your doors and windows. All locked, all secured. Nobody can get in without you hearing; it should be safe to go to the bathroom before heading back to sleep.

You begin to relax when you take a seat on your toilet. Your bathroom doesn’t have any windows, so it’s not like anyone can break in there anyway. As you begin to pee,  a loud “bloop” from underneath you startles you from your zen moment. Weird, but not unexpected; there’s some construction on the pipeline further down the street, so it probably has something to do with that. Another, louder one comes and you jump a bit. Then another, and another. You start to rise, but you never make it up. Something bursts forth from the drain below you, forcing its way into your anus, winding through your innards and bursting out your chest. You watch in horror as a blood-drenched tentacle slides back into the gaping hole in your torso, a circular mouth with rows of razor-sharp teeth at its end. Before you fade to black, you feel it latch onto something inside as it begins drinking you from the inside out.

Fear what lies beneath. This is Toilet Tuesday.

Yautja – Songs of Lament (Forcefield Records) [Sludgegrind]
Listen to “Breed Regret”

Yautja are named for the sedulous alien hunters from the Predator franchise. It’s a fitting moniker, as the band approach their prey (our ears) with a masterful precision and brutal ruthlessness befitting those xeno trophy collectors. Songs of Lament is a harrowing hunt through swampy jungle and muddy bog, and you’re likely to be nothing more than so much splattered viscera by the triumphant end of this EP. FFO: Oblivionized, Dendritic Arbor, Great Falls 10/13/15 (W.)

Centvrion – V (SG Records) [Thrash/Heavy Metal]

I haven’t heard enough of V to tell you if Centvrion measure up to the hype created by the teaser trailer, but if the full length sounds anything like this one minute snippet, this is going to be some high-octane, dong-swingin’ speed metal sure to please the true warriors in the hall. Prepare your neck. FFO: Night Demon, Visigoth, Liege Lord 10/16/15 (W.)

Gorod – A Maze of Recycled Creeds (Listenable Records) [Smooth Jazz]
Listen to “Temple to The Art-God”

With their followup to 2012’s A Perfect AbsolutionGorod seek to cement their status as the world’s preeminent jazz fusion quintet. “Temple to The Art-God” seamlessly blends the melodic sensibilities of hard bop pioneer Art Blakey with the unmatched virtuosity of John Coltrane and brings them to the 21st century with a splash of rock influence. If the rich block chords, smooth modal fills, and crooning that would entrance even Kenny G are any indication, this will be an album worthy of any jazz enthusiast’s time. 10/16/15 (Spear)

It’ll probably be up on their bandcamp later this week.

        • Good point.

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

That’s some hot action right there.

To be honest, Deborah Logan looks pretty classy and fly for an older gal at the beginning of the movie.

        • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

          What is this?

          • Vote for Jeb

The Taking of Deborah Logan. Found footage horror movie on Netflix.

          • CyberneticOrganism

Holy fuck, gotta watch that now. It’s been rotting in my queue for a month.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

            See it, great film.
I knew I’d seen the lead actress before and it was killing me that I couldn’t place her. Then it hit me, “Holy Shit, that’s Opal Cortland(Jill Larson) from ‘All My Children!!”. Mom was/is a huge fan of that show.

          • Vote for Jeb

Do it. It’s nothing particularly groundbreaking, but I enjoyed it.

          • This pops up constantly for me as a recommendation and I always skip it, that gif has my attention.

          • KJM, Shake Zula

Now you have the ToH recommendation, much more reliable.

          • Vote for Jeb

the only thing that bothered me about this movie was that the dumb-dumbs never turned the lights in the house on when they were exploring at night.

          • soil powered energy…. lights off at night… conserving energy for the political “elite” — open mouthed kissing shills — passionately ignoring the light switches…. covering up/eroding municipal “electric” companies who funnel “profits” to the elites — taco dildos

And now you gave it away

          • Vote for Jeb

Eh. I had seen the gif before the movie. Didn’t give too much away.

    • KJM, Shake Zula

‘Taking Of Deborah Logan’, great film.

      • wowowow, if one animated GIF is going to sell me on a film, this is it

    • Super Nintendo Chalmers

I’m more interested in that figure entering on the right edge of the screen.

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain
  • shining Spear wins the internet for today

    • Lacertilian

For his Gorod description combined with yet another superb intro he has won endless tacos.

  • Well, all the shit I want to check out is not available. I did find the trailer to Slaughtered Existence’s new one. Sounds killer.

  • Max

After about three months, only JUST catching up on my Toilet Tuesday listening backlog, and now, another week with a looonnng list….

I’m beginning to think “metal” is called that because the music is like a factory churning it out 24/7.

But better too much metal than not enough, I suppose!

    • CyberneticOrganism

We’re the opposite of Blabbermouth around here. Oh hey I think they just posted another interview with Steven Adler.

      • Janitor Jim Duggan

I like how they keep up with hair metal. That’s the only thing I like about them.

      • Óðinn

Steven Adler is still alive? That IS news. 😉

  • Oh man that CULT OF OCCULT is nasty sludge. They probably could have added one more “Cult” to their name though. “Cvlted Ann Cvlter Cvlt of Occvlt” or something.

    • CyberneticOrganism

The Cult of the Cult of Cult

      • Hubert

The occulted cult of cultified occultification.

        • CyberneticOrganism

          I’d join that.

    • Also, not sure why “metalcore” is in their tags. I’m not hearing it at all. Must be their way of luring Suicide Silence teens to their Bandcamp page.

    • Super Nintendo Chalmers

I can’t even listen to this without laughing at the name. Fuck this band regardless of the music.

      • Haha, I thought is was alright. The name is damn silly though.

  • CyberneticOrganism

*Sweating nervously as I track my Cult Leader pre order

    • Ordered digital since I’m going to see them in a few weeks and grab a shirt then. Hopefully Deathwish comes through at 12AM friday so I can jam it all day at work.

      • D. Lee

Nice! I’d love to see them. Pre-ordered a t shirt/CD combo. When I tried to get the bundle it was listed as out of stock but when I added them seperately it went through. Weird

    Genesis 1:37

God awoken one night to hear his son Jesus playing loud heavy metal music from their CD player. God was not pleased and went down to his sons modest hut.

“WHAT IS THIS GARBAGE?”, he boomed as Jesus stop headbanging for a second and turned to face his father.

“Oh, this? This is David.” Jesus said, pointing towards someone lying lifeless on the carpet, probably under the influence of drugs.

“No, THAT!” God yelled, pointing at the CD player.

“That’s the CD player, you shithead”

God went over to the CD player and smashed it into smithereens with his huge fist.

“This ‘Avenged Sevenfold’ your playing is horrible! This music was created by Satan! YOU ARE GOING TO HELL!”

    “Cool” Jesus replied.

“This is Cult of Occult” Jesus answered, a smug grin on his face.

God hesitated a brief moment, a furtive expression of amusement on his lips.

      • Mvthvr Shvbvbv 8

There was a brief period in my high school when there was a band called 3Steps2Insanity. It’s not even lolbuttz, it’s just angering.

  • Wow! Look at all this great metal!
    *Puts on trenchcoat*
    *Looks around furtively*

*slips you a manila folder containing a Maritime album*

    • KJM, Shake Zula

Saw them once opening for Heaven & Hell, meh.

    • Do you recommend it?

    • Waynecro

I actually like the new Coheed, though I do miss Amory Wars story progression a tiny bit. Also, a few of the slower songs are pretty meh. It’s definitely the most radio-friendly album they’ve done, and it’s lacking some of the proggy elements the band usually employs.

  • CyberneticOrganism
  • Janitor Jim Duggan

Yay, Coheed and Cambria! I didn’t know Circle II Circle was still a band.

    • Based Pingu

Coheed and Cambria? More like “Not A Good Bandria”

      • Janitor Jim Duggan

        I like the new album.

        • Based Pingu

          You like almost everything.

          • Janitor Jim Duggan

            I do.

      • yissssss

  • Count_Breznak

    Hmmmm….new Sadist.
…not really convinced by the track tho.

  • Pagliacci is Kvlt

Here’s a better link for the new Panopticon. There’s 2 tracks available for streaming.

  • Super Nintendo Chalmers

Cult of Occult is one of the biggest lolbuttz names I’ve seen in a long time.

    • Mvthvr Shvbvbv 8

“Five Degrees of Insanity” is an equally lolbuttz album name.

  • Also, that new Skáphe song is really killer. Members of Misþyrming and Esoterica/Krieg.

  • really digging Thy Catafalque. Pingu, is this a band 4 u?

  • JamesGrimm

Panopticon sounds 2 or 3 lo fi bands playing at once.

    • Super Nintendo Chalmers

I’m not the only one who thinks that either. Right on.

      • JamesGrimm

Im listening to Kentucky right now. It pretty much encompasses everything I hate about BM. The folky stuff is neat. I enjoy the concept, just not the execution.

        • Super Nintendo Chalmers

His entire output has been pretty overhyped. Based on what I’ve heard from his latest, maybe he should stick to focusing full time on his brewery.

  • Definitely want to hear some Yaujta, the last album didn’t grab me but that new track is some gangsta shit.

    • Vote for Jeb

the whole thing is streaming somewhere

      • Think I saw it on Noisey but they were streaming Cult Leader so there was no it waa happening that day. I will circle back.

  • OldMetalHead

    Loving that smooth Jazz. Lol

  • JamesGrimm

    Enfeeble………..lolzbuttz or just bad?

  • 365chaosriddendays

“All Hell” kills boredom, their blackened thrash is catchy, vicious and wicked, good record.

  • Boss the Ross

    Centvrion are true Metal Warriors!

  • HessianHunter

Why “Episcopal Holocaust”? Of all Christians, Episcopalians are probably the most hippie-dippie, liberal, and accepting of the bunch. I grew up in an Episcopal Church and half the clergy was gay. “Missouri Synod Lutheran Holocaust” I could get behind, ha.

    • Óðinn

Half (or more) of all clergy is gay. The Episcopalians are just more likely to admit it.
