It’s finally the week of the TovH sponsored Nerds Across the Northeast tour! I am very excited to go see Hadean on Wednesday in CT at some sketchy dive bar. I’ll be the guy in the Toilet shirt if any fellow nerds will be there.

Ne Obliviscaris are going on a North American tour with Black Crown Initiate and Starkill.

Thank You Scientist released the first single from their new album Stranger Heads Prevail, out July 29th. It’s decent, but I am hoping this is one of the more laid back songs on the album.

Red Fang, who have a new album coming this fall, are touring Europe with Torche. I imagine we will be able to see the smoke cloud from across the Atlantic.

I so very rarely care about remasters, but Pain of Salvation released a sample of their remix of Remedy Lane, which has always been one of my favorite albums despite it sounding like shit. I am excited for this one, out July 1st.

  • Behemoth shared a little jam session on InstantGraham, presumably of them working on their newest album. It sounds…different (which gives credence to Nergal saying the next album would be post-punk influenced).
  • Tech Death band Deceptionist released one more song before the June 17th release of their sophomore album.
  • Meshuggah are releasing a monster box set of basically everything they have ever done, including 7 LPs and 3 EPs, and a bunch of other goodies. Pre-order now for only $250!
  • I am still trying to figure out exactly what the Adult Swim Singles Series is, but VHÖL released a new song on it. Check it out here.
  • The last day of Germany’s Rock am Ring festival was cancelled due to some crazy weather. Lightning hurt 80 people this year and also at least 33 people last year. It would seem that the gods do not like mixing radio rock with even the untvrest of metal.
  • In spoopy news, HP Lovecraft’s The Lurking Fear is being read and recorded onto vinyl, with backing ambience by Industrial Death band Theologian. It’s a pretty neat project, but prints will be very limited, so check out a sample and pre-order it soon.
  • Crowbar is parting ways with their bassist, according to this Fbook post.
  • Lacertilian

Damn, Red Fang played some new tracks when I saw them last May, now yet another tour without the new album. I’m finally getting impatient, for every subsequent update that isn’t an album announcement I will be forced to skol a beer.
Would love that Meshuggah box as I only have Nothing, Chaosphere, Catch 33, Obzen and Koloss in my collection, alas, US$250 is about AUD$340, or 34 weeks of bandcamp spending money. So…no.

    • Dubs

      That’s a lot of dollarydoos.

      • That’s a lot of power metal albums

        • Dubs

          THAT’S A LOT OF NUTS!

          • tigeraid
          • Tronc McBeefyBeardloaf
          • Janitor Jim Duggan

Speaking of bands I completely forgot were still together Angel Witch is apparently doing European dates. Does Kraftwerk even tour anymore?

          • Tronc McBeefyBeardloaf

Yep, they’re on tour now actually. They were supposed to release a new album last year, but I think that got delayed.

          • RJA

Yes. I saw them last fall and it was quite excellent.

          • you can lick my center of gravity

  • Anyone listen to that new Behexen record? Damn it is a jammin’

    GL

    • Sir Tapir The Based

I wonder if anyone else liked it?

      • I remember you raving about it… so when I saw the rec on the youtubes, I did a mandatory peep.

        noregrets/10

        • Joaquin Stick

Listening meow. Like most things this heavy, it will probably take the whole album to really grow on me, but I like.

        • ME GORAK B.C.™

          BEHEXEN IS A GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • hey Tapir, Ted Nu-Djent and i were talking about something… do you like the music of Enslaved??

        • Sir Tapir The Based

          Maybe?

          • i’m taking that as a yes! thx

          • Sir Tapir The Based

I need to know what you two are pppppplanning and waht me maybe liking Enslaved has to do with it?

          • on Facebook we were discussing the band. i said “i think most people like Enslaved. i’d be worried if somebody didn’t. probably even Tapir likes them!”
(see what fun you could be having with us)

          • Sir Tapir The Based

The new album was a dissapointment, but their older stuff is pgoid.

    • witches be hexin’

  • Tronc McBeefyBeardloaf

Post-punk influenced Behemoth? I thought Nergal said he was working on some country/honky tonk solo album nowadays.

    • Joaquin Stick

I think that is a separate side project thingy that is also still happening.

      • Tronc McBeefyBeardloaf

I look forward to his covers of “Boot Scootin’ Boogy” and “Red Solo Cup”.

    • CyberneticOrganism

If he makes something that sounds like 16 Horsepower, which he’s said is a big influence for it, I’m 100% down.

      • cannot tell if srs.

        • CyberneticOrganism

I’m srs, he mentioned it in a video somewhere.

        • Sir Tapir The Based

16 Horsepower is really fucking good (but Wovenhand is even better)

          • Abradolf Lincler

            16 Tapirpower

      • Tronc McBeefyBeardloaf

        I’d definitely check that out!

  • Eliza

I’m stoked to listen to the new Red Fang!

    • Did you checked the VHÖL song? I think you will like it.

      • Eliza

I do like that song a lot.

  • This is news I want to share.

Armageddon (SWE) will re-record their first album Crossing the Rubicon with Staffan Karlsson (who made the incredible mix and recording of last Spiritual Beggars record).

I’m very very veeery stoked on this!! Pure Swedish Melodic Metal work.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8dR-rHHNDo

    • Joaquin Stick

Thanks for addin’ to my news, dude!

      • Thanks to you for the neverending job, bruh!!!

        • Joaquin Stick

I also really like the posted song! I should check out more Armageddon.

          • The album is very good, hope you can check it out.

The middle albums (Three and Embrace the Mystery) are more akin to classic/power metal. But all of them have some sweet proggy touches in them and the guitarwork is always so clean and excellent.

  • Now that I think of it, I’ve seen Red Fang twice. They seem to open for a lot of bands.

  • ME GORAK B.C.™

CAN’T WAIT 4 NE OBLIVISCARIS & BLACK CROWN INITIATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Janitor Jim Duggan

Also the Nerds Across The Northeast tour is going to Stormville tomorrow? If only I didn’t work. I completely forgot about it.

  • Janitor Jim Duggan

News I just found out: Prophets Of Rage aka Rage Against The Machine with B Real and Chuck D in place of Zack De La Rocha is doing a US tour.

  • This new VHÖL song have a dangerous groove! I like it.

  • CyberneticOrganism

I dig that Behemoth riff, sounds like no bullshit punk/rock/black metal.

    • Hans Müller

Second or third time posting this here I just noticed, but fuggit.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9Nk-kuro9g

      • CyberneticOrganism

That’s a Black Metal Mad Libs album title. Here let’s make another one:

        FROST CULT MOON MISANTHROPY

        • Hans Müller

Song’s not even on that release. And I’d like to submit GOAT NIGHT BLACK CULT CIRCLE

        • SATAN’S CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST

          • ME GORAK B.C.™

BLACK TAR PIT OV INFINITE VOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • wait, I got it, MASTODON.

          • ME GORAK B.C.™

            ME THINK IT BAND ALREADY!!!

          • imma split your lungs with blood and thunder

        • Abradolf Lincler

          I’d listen to that

        • Tronc McBeefyBeardloaf

          Satan’s Frozen Crucified Necro Goat

    • I don’t hear the post at all, but then again it’s just a clip. I am kinda excited about the D-Beat punk sounds they had going there though.

      • Hans Müller

        D-Beat >>>>>>>>> Blast Beat

        • CyberneticOrganism

It can be two things #alwaysbeblasting

          • Witchblaster. I call it

          • Blast Beats are for Closers.

          • CyberneticOrganism

FUCK YOU, that’s my name! *launches into blastbeat intro*

          • Holy shit, I just pictured this happening in my head and got very turned on. #Veryerotic

          • CyberneticOrganism

First track from NEKROCOCK or whatever we’re calling our powerblackindustrial project

          • Yeah, I forgot if we had a name or not. Too much life shit to deal with to remember.

          • CyberneticOrganism

I hear ya man, way too much. I’m working on new music now but it’s been weeks since I’ve recorded anything. Part of that is due to vacation, but the other part is there’s a lot of life getting in the way. Kinda sucks that it’s gotta take a backseat. I hate the backseat. Fuck the backseat.

          • The back seat is not for closers. Bro…

          • CyberneticOrganism

Third prize is the backseat. And also you’re fired.

          • Haha, you are on fire today bro-bot.

        • They both fucking rule bro. Don’t be like that… Bro.

          • Hans Müller

Certainly, that’s why I didn’t use that many “>”ses. Just a slight preference. Depends on blah blah no black-or-white issue blah… you know the drill.

  • “I imagine we will be able to see the smoke cloud from across the Atlantic.”
    – and this is one of the reasons i’m glad you do the nooz.
count this dude in for new Thank You Scientist! m/

  • Edward/Breegrodamus™

That The Lurking Fear project sounds pretty ill.

    • Joaquin Stick

I thought it was pretty neat, the actor speaks a little too quickly, but it would be a weird little record to own. It’s out a on a label that does spoken word art vinyl exclusively I think, I am curious as to what else they put out.

      • Edward/Breegrodamus™

I confused Crowbar with Crowhurst while I was reading your post, lol

      • Dubs

Methinks Christian talked more about this in a recent interview.

        • Joaquin Stick

I see now. Interesting. He’s always ahead of the game.

      • Hans Müller

Would’ve thought they’d use the ambient more sparingly. Seems a bit much as a constant backdrop.

  • TR00KVLT

Can’t wait for New Red Fang, those guys are amazing live

    • Tronc McBeefyBeardloaf

Upvote for the “my eyes they burn, the goggles do nothing!” Carpathian Forest avatar.

  • 365ChaosRiddenDays

Months ago Nergal spoke about introducing the D-Beat style for the drums, so, maybe, things will go punk with a Black Metal approach similar to their early albums? I’m curious to hear their next step.

  • Tronc McBeefyBeardloaf

Narnia has a new (and hilariously bad) video that came out today. Decent, kinda meh song, but good lawdy the tittaes on the singer!

    https://youtu.be/eJua-nolCJ0

  • Waynecro

I like Thank You Scientist, but that song’s a bit of a snoozer. I’m still looking forward to hearing the full album. That Deceptionist CD is going to decimate dangly parts.
