On February 21st, 2015, I saw Jesse Leach’s (Killswitch Engage) other band, The Empire Shall Fall and took pictures of the whole show. Supporting acts included Seven Suns (Brooklyn), Cryptodira (Long Island) and Johnny Booth (Long Island). Check out photos from the show below.

    This is a fantastic idea.

  • I love Jesse’s voice! I wonder where the pictures are?

    • Edward/Breegrodamus

GL I was wondering too but I imagine ToH’s stellar editorial team are working to resolve the issue. I looked over at the dude’s album, though.

      ND

      • VVayne Brady

Did you lamos read the title?

        • Edward/Breegrodamus

          I did, lol.

        • That link is buried, W. I just found it, lol

          GL

          • VVayne Brady

I honestly don’t know what you guys are talking about. I’m browsing on a computer, and the photos are showing up fine. The venue location is listed in the title. Are y’all having a mobile issue?

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

I’m on my computer at work. It’s kind of stone aged but I still don’t know exactly where these hovering photos are supposed to be.

          • This is what I see.

          • VVayne Brady

Is that Firefox? Chrome has zero issues.

          • Yeah, firefox.

          • VVayne Brady

            Weird. I guess it’s a browser/mobile issue.

          • Tyreeling In The Years

I can’t see it on Chrome.

          • VVayne Brady

Really? I’m seeing it just fine.

          • Tyreeling In The Years

I’ve refreshed the page a few times. Nothing.

          • Guacamole Jim

I’m on Chrome and see nothing.

          • VVayne Brady

            Weird weird weird.

          • Guacamole Jim

            ¯_(ツ)_/¯

          • KJM

Just tried on Chrome and the same thing happens, no hovering pics just the one big pic.

          • Enemy Of The Free World

I is on mobile. I sees no photos.

          • Enemy Of The Free World

I think I found the photos. But I can’t view them.

          • Hmmm, maybe it is a firefox issue? Mine just updated this morning.

This is all I see on the page (refresh for image)

          • VVayne Brady

Chrome is fine. Not sure why Firefox isn’t.

          • Scrimm

            On chrome, don’t see it.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

I’m on Firefox too GL. I see it the same way.

I’m on Chrome on my phone. I see no photos.

          • JJD,

I am totally jealous Lynch Mob is coming through your town! I am not sure if I want to drive to Pittsburgh to see them play…. It is like a 4.5 hour drive 🙁 Maybe they will add more shows!

            GL

          • Eddie Trunk Jr., Floor Tech

You can road trip to Poughkeepsie. It’s a distance from Pittsburgh but you can meet me!

          • Let me clarify, I live 4.5 hours from Pittsburgh. Which means I live 10 hours from Poughkeepsie. lol

          • Eddie Trunk Jr., Floor Tech

You did say that. I’m excited to see Lynch Mob because of the greatness known as GL.

          • I have never seem them with Oni singing. I am totally jealous. I hope they add more dates!

          • Eddie Trunk Jr., Floor Tech

He’s back in the band? Yay!

        • Edward/Breegrodamus

          I guess I’m not a “lame-o” lol

      • BreebreeNegroD,

Listen to this song I found over the weekend.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q2Wx5H6wkg

I think it has changed my life.

        GL

        • Edward/Breegrodamus

It will be the first thing I listen to after work, before I check out a hip hop track my girlfriend sent over and before I listen to Imperial Triumphant’s Abyssal Gods for the third day in a row.

          ND

          • Enemy Of The Free World

Good albums are supposed to be listened multiple days in a row. Sometimes even multiple times a day.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

At the risk of being that guy and repeating myself all the time on various social media outlets, over the weekend I listened to Abyssal Gods, Moonlover, and Converge’s Jane Doe two times each. I have something I want to tackle site-wise, so I should probably start listening to it, but I am without a doubt going to keep visiting Abyssal Gods cause fuck, man.

          • Enemy Of The Free World

Today is the Day. That I listen to Abyssal Gods in full for the first time.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

            less music more often

          • Enemy Of The Free World

I’ve also mostly abided by that thia year so far.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

I had a week or two recently where I just listening to fucking everything, lol

          • Enemy Of The Free World

New Leviathan is coming out. I am going to relisten his old stuff, ’cause I wasn’t actually that impressed with the three streaming tracks. None of them is bad, but none of the grip me. So it looks like a good album. But just good.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

Oh, that is one I can not wait to hear! I loved the three tracks though. I should follow your lead and revisit much of his older work… but when?

          • Maybe when you decide to stop being a poser hvkk.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

poser hvkk = gainfully employed (although only for a few more weeks)

          • Enemy Of The Free World

Time is of the essence, I’m trying like one a day from this day on, or maybe split an album to two days.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

He’s been very prolific, but you listen to a ton of music. You got this. I have faith in you from here on out.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

Oh! Let me know if you think it’s a black metal album, because it isn’t, lol

          • Don’t worry, you’ve already been that guy for a long, long time.

          • Edward/Breegrodamus

            Aw thanx bb <3

          • Eddie Trunk Jr., Floor Tech

I agree. I’ve been listening to Astral Weeks by Van Morrison on repeat for the past three days.

        • Enemy Of The Free World

Anneke, Anneke, Anneke, Anneke, Anneke, Anneke, Anneke, Anneke, Anneke…

          • Dude, I have been lost for word since about noon on Saturday!

          • Enemy Of The Free World

Anneke and Arjen did a special gig here last Monday. One of the only ones where Arjen was actually with The Gentle Storm + Solo sets.
That is what I would call ‘rad’

          • WHOA. Did you go?

          • Enemy Of The Free World

I had tix. Then my workplace exploded figuratively, like literally. So I couldn’t go.
I’m dying here, Dying I tell you. DYING!

          • Damn!

          • Enemy Of The Free World

            dying… dying… dyi *fades away*

Can never be said too many times.

          #StayAnneke

        • I’m liking this!

          • Dude, wait till you have listened to it 27 times. The lyrics are a little lolbuttz but the presentation is unreal!

    • Stockhausen

      GL

  • Huge fan of Jesse Leach, but I just couldn’t get into TESF.

    • I made a few passes at TESFs material. I may have to give it another shot!

    • Didn’t knew you liked him.

I’m not familiar with any KsE material apart their last album. In due time is such a catchy song.

Any recommendation of KsE (or other of his bands, bro)?

      • Guacamole Jim

Alive or Just Breathing by Killswitch Engage is a classic. [EDIT: 365 beat me to it!]

      • You can also try Times of Grace his side band with Adam D from KSE. It’s more polished than KSE but still very good.
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OGyo9ac4ps

        • Guacamole Jim

Times of Grace = Religious KsE.

          • KSE is still kind of religious when you look at the lyrics.

To his credit, Jesse never drops the JC bomb, so I can overlook the religious aspect and just take it as a general personal/spiritual connection.

          • that’s good, I can pass that. In fact, it could be material for some article i’m preparing.

          • Guacamole Jim

Oh for sure. I guess it’d be more accurate to say: ToG = MORE religious KsE. ToG was much more overt than KsE has been, though you’re right about the lyrical themes of KsE.

          • Enemy Of The Free World

            So ToG is KsE debut?

          • Guacamole Jim

No, ToG came out as a side project before Jesse officially rejoined KsE, right after KsE put out their self-titled album (and during the time they were having problems with Howard Jones). It’s a few years old now, but is still recent relative to KsE’s lifespan.

          • Enemy Of The Free World

There was supposed to be another word there somewhere. Anyways, I meant ToG is like KsE’s debut, ’cause that’s more openly religious than the rest it seems to me.

          • Guacamole Jim

OH yes in that case I agree. Times of Grace is very overt about their message, and while they don’t explicitly reference Christianity or Jesus, it’s not difficult to figure out what they’re on about.

        • I LOVED this album. Must listen to it now.

      • Oh and there’s also Seemless, his band after KSE which featured members of Unearth and Overcast. I actually booked them in college. It’s more groovier bluesier hard rock than metal.

  • #ToiletOvPhotos

This is a great work. This was my favorite: https://www.flickr.com/photos/127636121@N06/16440726397/in/set-72157651045803585

    Congrats!!

    • Edward/Breegrodamus
      • I’m not a photographer, but I think he made wonders with the lighting. That one is very good too.

I will check the bands in a while.

Btw, mr. Ed, I’m checking new Napalm Death, I read that you liked. I’m very impressed by it!

        • Edward/Breegrodamus

Ugh, Apex Predator is such a fantastic album. Truly the first great heavy metal album released in 2015. Abyssal Gods may eclipse it as my current favorite though in the very near future.

          • They cranked the songwriting up to the sky here. It’s awesome that a band like Napalm Death doesn’t afraid to play a lot with structures in their style.

It’s not just trá-trá-trá blast beat the entire record, it’s very varied and the lyrical approach is superb. They’re making a political statement valuable in the current times that’s also ignored by a lot in the genre.

They got my support in here.

          • Eddie Trunk Jr., Floor Tech

A lot of older albums that were political still hold up such as Whats going on by Marvin Gaye and any Public Enemy record. Not many metal bands can make political themes work. ND can.

          Tele>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Strato

          • Scrimm

I don’t like any Fender But I think the Telecaster is the ugliest guitar ever.

          • Guacamole Jim

I used to think the same, but really came around on it. I guess seeing BC Rich really opened my eyes to what “ugly” meant.

          • Guacamole Jim

            fvgly

          • Scrimm

            Here’s my main one.

          • Scrimm

I could only wish to be that much of a badass.

          • That’s a beautiful guitar, my friend!

          • Scrimm

Thank you, I think so too!! Now I’m color coordinated, it matched the color of my picks.

          • I always try to use green picks. It’s my fav color, and it helps me to not screw so much 😛

          • Scrimm

These are the only kind I ever use.

          • Lacertilian

I used to use those exact pics but I got used to using the Jim Dunlop .88s with the grippy part.
            Now I’m a grip-aholic,
I use these ones called Brain, not sure if you have them over there but they are super grippy, you have to be really sweaty to even come close to dropping them.

          • Scrimm

Never heard of Brain, If I see them I’ll give them a try but I’m pretty stuck on those. The other guitar player in my band was at NAMM this year and got some new kind of Dunlops but I haven’t messed with them yet.

          • Lacertilian

One day my mate & I were hammered jamming and decided to throw together a couple of simple improv riffs and dedicate the song named ‘Black Brain’ to the almighty Black Brain pick.
            Drunk I tells ya.

          • Scrimm

            Drunk creations>>>>>>

          • Lacertilian

            LTD bros!
            *nod of respect*

          • Scrimm

I used to own a Warlock and it wasn’t pretty but damn was it comfortable. I wouldn’t use a Telecaster if they paid me.

          • Enemy Of The Free World

You make me sad, sir knight.

          • Scrimm

            I’m sorry.

        • HATEBEARD

          Teles are better than strats

          • Scrimm

Don’t like either one, I just hate the Tele look so much.

          • Lacertilian

            NO

          • SUNLIGHTBEARD

Sorry, Lassy. Just an opinion. Truth be told, I’d never be seen playing either.

          • Lacertilian

It’s cool man, don’t ever take me too seriously, I can’t even do it myself anymore.
Teles are an abomination in my books.

        • Edward/Breegrodamus

I’m pretty ignorant as far as that is concerned.

          • Scrimm

My friend has a prett high end one. It’s actually not a terrible instrument, But oh man do I hate the look of the thing.

  • Tyreeling In The Years
  • Guacamole Jim

The Empire Shall Fall isn’t as solid a group as KsE, but they’ve got some outstanding tunes. Plus, JDL is a killer vocalist, and most everything he touches turns to gold.

  • HATEBEARD

    Not enuff cute cats

  • VVayne Brady

Hey dudes, sorry if you’re having trouble viewing the photos. Joe, Masterlord, and I all were able to view them on pc, so we aren’t quite sure what the problem is. Sorry about that. Maybe just check out the link at the bottom.

This was on a youtube ‘watch later’ list I went through last week, no doubt originating from someone in the comments section here.
It made my afternoon a little less shithouse.

Going to try and get into the Velvet Underground for the millionth time. It’s just so hard to do but I might succeed this time.

    • all you need is Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music and LuLu

      • Enemy Of The Free World

One of these s really good.

      • Eddie Trunk Jr., Floor Tech

Never speak of those abominations. This is for a possible Porcelain Throne article which will include all 5 of their studio albums, even the really obscure fifth one which has no original members .

      • KJM

        Ha!

    • KJM

I have also tried and failed to care about VU.

      • Eddie Trunk Jr., Floor Tech

I’ve gotten farther into the first album than I usually do. I don’t know if I’ll get through any of the others though.
