Hello! Happy New Year! Let me melt your face!

So as I sat there trying to decide what to do for the last TDT of 2014, I thought about doing a huge ass post wherein I’d go in depth about all the good tech death that dropped this year. I then thought about all the tech death that dropped this year… like all six trillion albums or whatever. Then I started second guessing myself because I actually still have terrorists to kill and shit. I mean, they don’t just take holiday breaks. Something something terrorism never sleeps. Anyway, I decided that instead of some massive wall of text which, lets be cereal here, you don’t want to read and I don’t have the time to write, I’m going to post links to what I think are some of the best tech death songs of the year and leave the rest of you toileteers to talk about them and post cat gifs in the comments. I suppose this is also somewhat of a Tech Death Thursday recap for those of you that are new to the site and too lazy to go through the archives like I am. Let’s get to it!

OH OH OH OH BEFORE I FORGET, GOROD POSTED A GUITAR PLAYTHROUGH OF A SONG THAT IS GOING TO BE ON THEIR NEW ALBUM IN 2015. YOU SHOULD PROBABLY PAY ATTENTION BECAUSE THIS IS IN CAPS LOCK. IT WORKS FOR DAVID DRAIMAN SO IT HAD BETTER WORK FOR ME! Lastly, I’m writing this on 1 hour of sleep so if I sound like a fool it’s because I currently am, ok? Ok cool, let’s get techy with it!

Bloodshot Dawn – Demons: “The Image Faded” – I gave this album a stellar review and it is my album of the year. I don’t think I need to say more, but I will. Buy it buy it buy it.

Soreption – Engineering the Void: “Engineering the Void” – Look, if you dig tech death and haven’t already listened to this band, what the fuck, man?

Artifical Brain – Labyrinth Constellation: “Absorbing Black Ignition” – On the off chance that you haven’t heard this album and you are regular visitor to this site, SHAME ON YOU! BAD BAD BAD!

Abysmal Dawn – Obsolescence: “Human Obsolescence” – The scream at the beginning of this song is just fucking badass and signals that the floodgates holding back the epicness of this song have opened.

Job For a Cowboy – Sun Eater: “The Synthetic Sea” – This is what happens when a band grows up and changes their style correctly. I also wrote a review for this one. See, All That Remains? This is how a band is supposed to evolve. Seriously though, this album is perfect.

Killitorous – Party,Grind: “Godking” – This band is absolutely hilarious (as their name implies). On top of that, they manage to mix tech death and grind into an extremely tasty package. [Hehehehehe. – Masterlord]

Narada – Dead Waters: “Chikkhai Bardo“- I have been listening to this a lot lately. It would have been in my top ten if I had been blessed with more time to listen to it before making the end of year lists.

Hadal Maw – Senium: “Aetas De Morior” – This is one of those bands that I had no idea was a thing until I stumbled upon their Bandcamp. Yes, this is their debut, and yes, they sound like they have been at it for years. Of all the up and coming bands I think I’m most excited to see what’s next from these guys.

Ophidius – The Throat of the World: “Fuck you I won’t choose just one song” – Skyrim metal. No seriously, this is Skyrim tech death and it’s an incredible little EP. Though I would like some vocals, the instrumental aspect is so good that it isn’t a deal breaker in this case. Also SKYRIM.

Primordium – Aeonian Obsolescence (I hate typing this word): “The Incursion” – One of the first tech death songs featured on this website and also one of the best.

Archspire – The Lucid Collective: “Seven Crowns and the Oblivion Chain” – Look, you guys know that I’m always Archspiring about Archpire and Archspire the Archspire album really Archspired me by Archspire. Totally Archspire Archspire! <3

Allegaeon – Elements of the Infinite: “Threshold of Perception” – I really love this entire album but since I’m picking single songs, I’m gonna have to give the edge to this one because that intro is just so fucking glorious.

Emeth – Aethyr: “Aethyr” – I’m not really sure why these dudes aren’t more well known, but they totally should be. They write nothing but top tier rippage (not a typo, patenting it).

The Zenith Passage – Simulated Reality: “Simulated Reality” – Although they only released one song, which was a pre-production song this year, it’s still good enough that I’m including it here. Every time I listen to this I find it hard to believe it’s pre production.

Alterbeast – Immortal: “Mutilated Marvel” – This was a tough one to choose because I love this entire album. It’s a brutal controlled chaos that leaves me wanting more and more and more and more.

Raster Density – Ov Hands and Bestial Pleasure: “Shattering the Spheres” – This is another song from a fantastic album that I gave the edge to because the intro is fucking awesome.

Fallujah – The Flesh Prevails: “Carved From Stone“- I believe this is the second single the band released before the album came out, but it has remained my favorite on the album. This band is going to be huge.

Black Crown Initiate – The Wreckage of Stars: “To The Eye That Leads You” – This was one of the most anticipated albums of the year and as far as I’m concerned, it didn’t disappoint in the least. I picked this one because of the tinge of Travis Ryan-esque vocals that can be heard at times.

Inferi – The Path Of Apotheosis: “Onslaught Of The Covenant” – This band definitely takes the award for my favorite guitars of the year. I’m currently facepalming for not including them in my top ten.

Fuck You And Die – Elements of Instability: “Security Through Obscurity” – This band is fucking incredible. Insanely good riffage and top notch vocals. On top of that, they can provide you with your Necrophagist fix. I honestly think it would help them gain popularity if they changed their name, though. Check out the review here.

Last but certainly not least we have Beyond Creation’s Earthborn Evolution: “Elusive Reverence“- Dat bass! This band’s debut album is one of the best tech death albums I have heard, and their new album is even better!

I could keep going, but I feel these are the bands that did the best work this year. Obviously there’s a ton more, but I think this is plenty for now. Plus, that’s what future TDTs are for! See ya next year!

Until next time,

Stay Tech
