News Roundup: Sepultura On Superstore, Mutiny Within, Psycho Las Vegas, Anubis Gate and More

News bloody news.

It’s always a fun little surprise when metal sneaks its way into a show on network television. NBC’s Superstore, which was recently renewed for a second season, prominently played Sepultura’s “Roots Bloody Roots” on the episode “All-Nighter”. You can watch the entire episode (and you should because it’s pretty funny) here. The music kicks in at about the 1:00 mark.

Sleep will be blowing across America for a few shows with Windhand.

The lineup for Psycho Las Vegas has been announced. The three-day fest will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and will feature Blue Oyster Cult, Sleep, Pentagram, Candlemass, Converge, Boris, Mac Sabbath, Yob, Elder, Zombi, and a ton of other bands. Sounds like a fun time… or at least the part of it you’ll remember sounds like fun. Also, there’s a band called “Beelzefuzz”. That’s adorable.

Former Roadrunner Records alums Mutiny Within recently patched up their differences and have begun recording new music. The band has posted a few clips of the sessions on their Facebook page and had this to say:

Things are moving along a lot, lot quicker than we anticipated. We’ve already got songs coming together and being demoed. The chemistry that made this band so special when we started out has never been stronger and we’re literally tripping over new ideas and we’re so excited to be doing this again. Things have been really quiet for us for so many years but that break seems like it’s breathed new life into the band. We’ve got that fire back that made Mutiny Within what it was.

Most of you know that we had a lot of dark days after we departed from the roster of Roadrunner Records and it’s hard to believe we’ve never actually been in the same room since December of 2010. We started our first tour being great friends and as time went on, more things went wrong, and our friendships became strained.

But, here we are in 2016 working together as a whole band, all be it over an ocean but that isn’t holding us back. So thanks for sticking with us.

This next release is going to be strong. We’ve incorporated those classic MW progressive elements, and most importantly we’re having the time of our lives making new music.

Devil You Know, featuring former Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed vocalist Howard Jones and former All Shall Perish guitarist Francesco Artusato, will be headlining the “Make America Metal Again Tour” with support from Oni (I think that’s the right Oni). The band is offering VIP packages that include a group photo with the band, autographs, and a t-shirt of your choice. See the dates and locations on the terrifying poster below:

Danish Power/Prog metallers Anubis Gate have launched a new Kickstarter campaign. The band is looking to raise $18,000 to release a limited-edition 6-disc box set that will include re-releases of their first four out-of-print albums. With about 40 days to go, the band is almost halfway to their goal.

The band is offering much in the way of “swag”, but you can still pledge a relatively small amount of money to get the box set. Enjoy their album “Andromeda Unchained” while you pry open your wallet.

Shadow Woods Metal Fest just got even cooler with the edition of Mongolian folk metal band Tengger Calvary. They join an already great lineup featuring A Sound of Thunder, Acid Witch, Coffin Dust, and more. Check out the lineup announced so far here.

Remember when we reported last week that Fade Kainer from Batillus/Statiqbloom had his van stolen? A bunch of people, including members of the music world, banded together and started a GoFundMe to help Fade replace the van. In less than a week, the page raised over the initial goal of $3,000. Yay!

Fans of Dog Fashion Disco and all of their side projects rejoice. A three-day weekend this summer has been set aside by the various bands to perform. Starting on August 5th, Knives Out will be playing all of their albums Relentless and Black Mass Hysteria with psychodance party Polkadot Cadaver. This will be the only show for both bands for the entire year.

The next day, DFD’s vocalist Todd Smith will do an El Creepo set celebrating the release of his new album Bellisimo!

If that’s not enough, Dog Fashion Disco will be playing for 2 hours, including a full performance of their album Adultery.

Code Orange is hitting the road in May with the Deftones. Read our review of their most recent album here.

Skuggsjá (Wadruna’s Einar Selvik and Enslaved’s Ivar Bjornson) are streaming their debut album A Piece For Mind & Mirror here.

Toothgrinder will be the opening band for the Killswitch Engage, Memphis May Fire and 36 Crazyfists (who have started recording new material) on a US tour. Though it hasn’t been announced yet, you can expect them to be added to the New England Metal & Hardcore Fest since all 3 other bands are playing.

El Drugstore (ex-East Of The Wall) gave a surprise update on their Facebook page stating plans for a new album. For the uninitiated, listen to their excellently titled song “Hipster Tits“. Definitely for fans of Dysrhythmia, Behold…The Arctopus, and Intronaut.

Finally, enjoy a new track from Manchester, England’s Wode (Broken Limbs Records) via Stereogum.

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

That lineup for Psycho Las Vegas is fucking AMAZING!! BOC, Pentagram, Candlemass, Truth and FUCKING Janey! Rad.

  • Spear

I’m pretty stoked on that new Mutiny Within. Shadow Woods is looking pretty solid, too.

    • I remember they did a tour in the US with Arch Enemy, but I never had the opportunity to listen to them. Any recommendation from Mutiny Within?

        • Thanks, man. The video is blocked in Venezuela (RACISTS!). But I found another one. Checking out, I’m digging so far the clean vocals!

What happened with them in Roadrunner Records with the “dark days” thingy they told on the FB update?

          • Roadrunner is notoriously bad to bands that do not reach their expectations and the vocalist, who moved from England to the US to be in the band, left due to financial problems.

They most likely had a shitty deal with Roadrunner and when they didn’t sell a specific number of albums, got little money in return. Roadrunner’s alum roster is full of bands that only released 1 album before leaving the label and eventually breaking up.

          • Wtf, that’s wicked. So they followed the big corporations model with a not good selling genre, what a bunch of jackass.

Is the English vocalist still with them?

          • He’s back.

          • Good. His cleans are cool.

I was checking the past roster of Roadrunner and it had plenty of Death Metal bands of the 90s (Death, Cynic, Obituary, Pestilence…) and it seems they kicked in the butt in the final part of the decade. It seems they were only for the $weet dollar$ in this.

          • Dubs

Roadrunner was pretty instrumental for the success of extreme metal at one point in time.

          • Business are business, from what I am reading.

I remember that the only label that was interested on pushing Cynic to the metal market was Roadrunner. They probably had a better platform, but they probably changed their marketing targets with the advent of nü-metal.

I don’t know. I never checked out the roster of Roadrunner, I am just thinking out loud.

          • The Tetrachord of Archytas

I actually took some skype lessons with that singer. Their take on it is piracy. I think their album was reviewed pretty well for mainstream metal, and they got figures for how much their album was pirated. And roadrunner basically took the difference from their merch and tour money. The other thing is that Chris’s visa didn’t allow him to take a job in the US when they weren’t touring so he had to move back to the UK

          • Thanks for the info, weird Donald Duck.

I wish him the best, and I will def check out their upcoming record. I liked his vocal output on the song shared here.

      • Spear
  • Boss the Ross

    Dammit. I’m gonna miss Sleep.
Psycho Las Vegas looks totally bad ass.
I cant wait to give Skuggsja a listen. I heard a track a while back and it sounded good.

  • YourLogicIsFlushed

El Drugstore is pretty neat, but I think I’d prefer more East of the Wall. Thanks for the news, 365.

    • The Tetrachord of Archytas

im so ready for new East of the Wall

  • I still think that Skuggsjá is one of the greatest collaborations ever. That Shadow Woods Festival must be awesome to attend too!

I will check Anubis Gate when I can. I always forget to check that band.

    Thanks 365!

  • i like seeing these frequent news updates on the site. i mean, it’s pretty easy to find out who the new bass player of Slipknot is and such, but it’s cool to see all the non-mainstream news is one convenient place.

  • Eliza

I enjoyed El Drugstore’s Hipster Tits quite a lot, I’ll check out their album as well.

  • Dubs

Interesting to see a band use “all be it” followed by one using “albeit” in the same thread.

    • TrickleDownOvTacoKvltRiff

      albeit unnecessary

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain
    • Janitor Jim Duggan

He is missed. His work with Taste was amazing as was Irish Tour.

  • King Shit of Fuck Mountain
    • dave grohl finally realized that nobody cares about the other “foo fighters” and kicks them to the curb

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

      • At least he gave them all chicken fingers.

      • Sir Tapir The Based

They’re holding the Grohl down! THE GROHL NEEDS TO BE SET FREEEE!

        • When Grohl was in Egypt’s land, let my Grohl go.

      • more beer

What could make that better is. He is kicking Foo Fighters to the curb. Then him, Randy Blythe, and Corey Taylor are all taking a vow of silence.

        • Sir Tapir The Based

Grohl, Blythe and Taylor will start a talkshow and release series of books together.

          • *uncontrollable vomiting*

          • more beer

How are they going to have a talk show if they take a vow of silence?

          • Sir Tapir The Based

By not taking a vow of silence.

          • more beer

Bored housewives who are the demographic for talk shows. Don’t care what any of these guys have to say. It will never happen.

          • Sir Tapir The Based

            You’re taking it very seriously.

          • more beer

No I am messing with you.

          • CyberneticOrganism

Also Nergal, because he’s a public guy now

          • Rob M

None will have less than 2000 pages

      • If that actually happened, Sunny Day Real Estate would probably reform.

        • (did you make this comment because you know i used to be one of their biggest fans?)

          • I did. I am also a big fan.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Maybe Grohl will play Goldsmith’s parts as well.

  • So should we expect Mutiny Within to end up on every single relatively major metal tour for the next few years just like back in the day?

  • Eliza
    • Owlswald

I found this last week and jammed the album yesterday. Definitely solid.

      • Eliza

I just finished relistening to it, and I have to say that I like it more now.

  • Why that Made America Metal Again have a Donald Trump on the poster?

    • i live in this country and i don’t get it.

    • Sir Tapir The Based

Because Trump wants to make America great again by keeping away Mexicans like you.

      • The thing they don’t get is that Mexicans like me are meaner and more racists than them.

        • Sir Tapir The Based

You’d hurt their feelings. That’s why they have to build a wall.

          • Eliza

            I don’t get Americans sometimes.

          • #JustNonAmericansProblems

          • Sir Tapir The Based

            I never get Americans.

          • Eliza

            They don’t get us either.

          • Sir Tapir The Based

I don’t want them to get me. They’re always trying to get me. I’m a fugitive.

          • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

            You like this album?

          • Eliza

Could it be that you … like Iron Maiden, Tapir?

          • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

            The silence is deafening.

          • Eliza

Maybe it’s to suggest that he does like Iron Maiden, but he avoids admitting it.

          • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

          • Sir Tapir The Based

Stop fucking theorising and wait for the next week’s episode, kids!

          • Eliza

Can’t wait for it! It’s been great so far.

          • Calm down, that happens when you are popular and you develop a fandom.

            For more information check out:

          • Sir Tapir The Based

That’s a fake fan page! They sell shirts but we don’t make Tapirman shirts yet. We checked and the money someone is making off of those fake shirts is going to someone in Venezuela

          • BE CAREFUL! They’re probably supporting Venezuelan Neo-Nazis shit.

          • Sir Tapir The Based

Does Tapir like Iron Maiden? Does he even exist? Find out next week, same Tapir-time, same Tapir-channel!

          • Sir Tapir The Based

          • Eliza

            I’ll have to admit, that’s a nice cop-out.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            Turn that frown upside down!

          • Eliza

        • DVRKBEVRD

you dont have a mean bone in your body, link!

          • Yeah, Link is like the sweetest bro-tato-chip around.

          • Aww, thanks, dude! Let’s enter eternal fire or some shit like that.

          • Like I say Link, “Listen to more Bathory”.

          • Dubs

            Link hates Peruvians and Columbians.

          • And Chileans and Argentinians and Spaniards and Mexicans and, most of all, people from Venezuela.

          • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

Now why would someone hate Peruvians?

          • Dubs

Link thinks they’re poor and dirty and accuses them of eating pigeons.

          • ¡Jajajajajajajaja! I laugh everytime!! :’D

          • Dubs

See? He is so filled with hate that his own hate makes him laugh.

    • Because Guitar World is racist.

      • TrickleDownOvTacoKvltRiff

*Because White Guitar World is racist.

      • Flyin Choo Choo Booger Muffler

Judging by their comments section, I wouldn’t be surprised.

  • I should try to check out that Sleep show in Portland though.

    • Rob M

Stupid Europe and their stupid festivals that I didnt want to go to anyway

      • Haha, exactly. Stupid!!!

        • CyberneticOrganism

Dude, that’s the destination of this year’s “TovH Author Team-Building Exercise & Good Time Beer Drinkery” trip.

    • Occultation >>>>>>>>>

      • Pagliacci is Kvlt

I slept with them. They’re a nice bunch.

  • Jen

Oh shit, I knew my friends in Shroud Eater were playing this, I didn’t realize Cave Of Swimmers got invited as well! Holy fucking shit, anyone with the capabilities to do this needs to go.
