In the age of information, news are like drugs, and I’m the supplier. Or something.

Season of Mist sludge champions Kylesa recently released a new video for “Lost and Confused”, a track from their 2015 release Exhausting Fire. Laura Pleasants’ eerie backing vocals are very pleasing (ba-dun-tss) when juxtaposed against the song’s heavy riffs. The Natural Born Killers/teenage delinquency vibe of the clip complements the lyrics nicely. Beware of a lateral breast sighting around the 1:20 mark; your boss probably won’t like it. Or maybe he/she will. Who knows.

Full of Hell is going to release an EP called Amber Mote In The Black Vault through Bad Teeth Recordings. You can listen to 50 delightfully ignorant seconds from it. Oh, there’s a Melvins cover in it too, for the song “Oven”. I like (the) Melvins.

Sounds like these guys have strong feelings concerning lamps. Gee.

The only thing I like more than free samples is a Relapse Records free sampler. Their newest, a whopping 36 track compilation of some of the best stuff released under their banner this year, is out now via Bandcamp. It features TovH-favorites like TorcheTau CrossHooded Menace and many, many more. As always, variety and quality are always key elements in Relapse’s roster.

Remember Discharge? Well, they just signed to Nuclear Blast Records and put out a new song named “NWO”, straight from their upcoming album End Of Days.

Baroness recently released a teaser for their new album Purple Swag scheduled for a December 18th release. They’ve also announced a US tour for late November/December, with support from Virginia band Earthling. Check the tour dates and footage from the Purple drum recordings below:

  • Remember Discharge?

    …no…

    • Maik Beninton™

They signed to Nuclear Blast so they are definitely worth your time.

      • Just because a band is on Nuclear Blast doesn’t mean they’re great. Isn’t that right, Aversions Crown?

          • Greeeat, dude!

          • Waynecro

I’ve seen them probably four times. They’re awesome live. When they played a shitty San Diego club many years ago, the guitar player was eating a burrito between songs.

          • more beer

How many years ago? Was it Zack? He is a friend of mine. I saw his new band Vimana on Monday night.

          • Waynecro

I can’t remember exactly when it was. It had to have been well before 2007, because I was still drinking. In fact, I was absolutely shit hammered when I saw them. It probably was Zac Joe. Kick ass about seeing Vimana. Great band name.

          • more beer

They are very good. Check them out on Bandcamp. Zack is a good dude. That wouldn`t surprise me in the least.

          • Waynecro

That shit rips, man. That’s going in my Bandcamp Wishlist. I’d buy it right now and blast it when I lift tonight if PayPal and Bandcamp were working. I still get errors when I try to buy something.

          • more beer

I`m pretty sure Zack told me they had a free download the other night.

          • Waynecro

It’s $4.00, which is a small price to pay. Some of their gear got stolen recently, it looks like. Man, that sucks.

          • more beer

Yea it did and that sucks. But man they fucking kicked ass the other night.

          • Waynecro

If they come to my neck of the woods, I’ll try to go see them. Unless it’s a work night or whatever–I’m old. Definitely going to get the CD when Bandcamp and PayPal get their shit together. I’ve been having so many problems lately that I’m on a first-name basis with one of Bandcamp’s support staff.

          • more beer

I`m old too. I still go out on school nights. Dam on a first name basis with Bandcamp support staff is crazy.

          • Waynecro

I guess I just prefer being at home. Yeah, I had to file so many refund requests that this one guy just started emailing me directly. I had to buy the new Cryptopsy and that badass Sielunvihollinen CD from Amazon.com because the Bandcamp transactions wouldn’t work.

        • CHILDREN OF BODOM FROM NUCLEAR BLAST!!!!!!

    • more beer

I watched them get chased off of the stage at the Ritz In NYC in 86. They were horrible. Their set lasted about 90 seconds. Before The whole crowed stop moving and started throwing everything that wasn`t bolted down at them. They were a punk band and they came out doing some sort of metal. Well that didn`t go over so well. They were actually running for their lives.

      • I think I remember you telling this story once before. That’s some intense shit man.

        • more beer

I have told that before. It was probably the craziest thing I`ve ever seen at a show.

          • Yeah, no shit. My sister saw a guy fall to his death at a club once. Dude fell right off of the balcony. Fucking ecstasy.

          • Vote for Jeb

Something like that happened before a show here. Some dude walked past me in line and apparently was running from security and went over some railing (the entry area is on a level above the parking lot).

          • Damn.

          • more beer

What is wrong with people. It is never the fall that messes you up, it is the sudden stop.

          • Vote for Jeb

I think the dude was either drunk or high, IIRC.

          • more beer

Most sober people are not running from security. and running over balcony’s.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Nah, he was just on a voidquest.

          • more beer

That is crazy. I saw this guy try to do a stage dive off of the pa at the same club. They were about 30 feet in the air. The whole crowd moved and he face planted. Needless to say he got hurt bad enough to stop the show. So EMS could work on him and take him out. The worst part was it was for Anthrax.

          • Boss the Ross

Holy smokes! It does suck having to miss Anthrax because some guy thought it would be cool to do something stupid.

          • more beer

Nah they just had to stop playing for a little while. Then finished their set. IT was NYC places can stay open until 4 am.

          • Boss the Ross

Oh, well then Hell Yeah! What year was the show?

          • more beer

87 or 88 those years kind of hazy. Plus Anthrax played i the clubs a lot back then. I probably saw them in that place 3 or 4 times.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

You see Celtic Frost back then?

          • more beer

Yea at the Beacon Theater in 87. After trying to see them 2 other times and them not being able to get into the country. That was a really good show.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Excellent, and right before Cold Lake. I believe their first US tour was 1986. Didn’t realize they were unsuccessful two times.

          • more beer

They were supposed to tour here in 86. They never got into the country. Or if they did it was after the New York dates. Trust me I tried to see them for both of those dates. The shows went on without them. If it would have been them touring for Cold Lake I wouldn`t have gone.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Gotcha, I think it must have been after, because they did play San Antonio in 1986.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAMipOzq1ck

          • more beer

New York were probably their first dates. They very well could have worked their visa issues out after that. But I know I tried seeing the a couple of times and the cancelled.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Yeah that would make sense as far as the visas. Hell at least you got to see them in their heyday! I was lucky to see them in 2006.

          • more beer

I didn`t get to see them then.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            Damn.

          • more beer

I was in Albuquerque not exactly a huge market.

          • Boss the Ross

That is awesone. I wish i could have gone to shows like that.

          • more beer

I was just lucky to be coming up at a really good time for music.

          • Boss the Ross

            No doubt.

          • What a dummy. Always that one guy.

          • more beer

Yep. there is always that one idiot.

          • Waynecro

When I saw Slayer/Pantera/Morbid Angel at a big arena many, many years ago, some dude jumped off the balcony to get to pit level. I don’t think it went well for him, because I spent the next 20 minutes watching medics attempt to maneuver a stretcher through the pit. That was a great show. Anselmo sang a song with Morbid Angel.

          • more beer

At least they didn`t stop the show because of a moron.

          • Waynecro

Yeah. I don’t think they could have stopped the show if they wanted to. That shit was pretty nuts.

          • more beer

There is always that one person that thinks they are invincible.

          • Waynecro

Too bad invincibility is usually an illusion.

          • more beer

            Yes it is.

      • sweetooth0

Yeah, but that was that one anomaly in their discography: “Grave New World”. Other than that, nothing but awesome D-Beat.

        • sweetooth0

at least the old stuff anyway

          • That shit is classic. MDF is going to filled with crusties this year. More so then usual. Plus Doom.

          • sweetooth0

Yeah, it’s gonna be awesome. But also, horribly smelly. But if it doesn’t stink while your watching crust, it isn’t right

          • Good point.

          • sweetooth0

Gonna try and get my tickets right away. Unfortunately the 4-day passes sold out. I’m gonna just get them second hand though because to buy all the separate passes is WAY more expensive ($800 Canadian vs almost $1300 Canadian for 2 people!)

          • Ah, fucking bummer man. I made sure I got mine as soon as possible. I just booked my hotel this week actually. So I’m all set! Hope to see you there again duder.

        • more beer

That tour pretty much killed their fan base.

          • sweetooth0

yeah I can see why. Oddly enough, I actually don’t mind that album. If you pretend it’s a different band it’s not bad.

          • more beer

If you saw what I did you would think differently.

      • Ohh, I remember your tale. It was because this “glam metal” stuff. I was checking the dates and it coincides with the release of this album:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_bvouD5Fqg

        • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Yeah, quite a shift in “musical direction”…..

        • more beer

          Yes it was.

        • Janitor Jim Duggan

          What were these guys thinking?

          • more beer

They weren`t thinking the punk rock way. They were thinking about cashing in.

          • Janitor Jim Duggan

This isn’t even good glam metal. They wouldn’t have gotten fame and fortune with this.

        • Never heard this one. Those falsettos, man. I wonder if he was in the booth recording like “NAILED IT”.

      • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Who else was on the bill?

        • more beer

DRI. CoC, and Youth of Today

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

            Nice.

          • more beer

All bands who didn`t get chased off of the stage.

          • Maik Beninton™

            Best crossover.

          • Boss the Ross

That show sounds amazing. You lucky bastard.

          • more beer

It was a great show except for the headliner.

          • Boss the Ross

That kinda sucks to hear, I like Hear Nothing, but ’86 would have been their transitional period, so i guess they would’ve sucked then.

          • more beer

I`ve seen bands booed off of the stage. But never anything like that.

          • Boss the Ross

            Damn.

      • Probably doesn’t compare but Fear Factory got booed off the stage opening for Biohazard in NYC years ago. They played two songs and then their drum triggers malfunctioned. The crowd started chanting “LA Sucks” and they never came back.

        • more beer

Plus playing with Biohazard on their home turf. Probably didn`t make it any easier for them. I saw Biohazard in some crazy venues when they were coming up. One was a gay sex club on 21st and 11th called the Zone Dk. There were dudes in cages hanging from the ceiling. It was a pretty disgusting place.

          • That sounds crazy man! Lordz of Brooklyn played that night too, they were a lot of fun. It was at the Roseland.

          • more beer

I always liked Roseland. At least you got 2 good bands that night.

          • i think Downset and Stuck Mojo played too. My buddy just turned 21 and was getting me drinks the whole night so I could care less about the supporting bands.

    • sweetooth0

I dunno, for late era Discharge that song is pretty rippin!

  • CyberneticOrganism

    Austin Weber be with you.

  • Finally giving the new Ride For Revenge album another go here with out any work interruptions. Shit is so heavy and filthy. It’s like if Beherit went sludge, just really nasty stuff.

  • Boss the Ross

It looks like all the old acts are getting Nuclear Blast deals now. When i saw Corrosion of Conformity last week Pepper announced they just signed with them and are working on a new album. But we all know it is going to kick ass. Hail the riff!

    • CyberneticOrganism

      Everything old is new again.

      • Boss the Ross

It’s a curse and a blessing. Some old bands are putting out some of their best material, like Accept, while others aren’t doing too well.

  • Hubert

Still need to check out that new Kylesa record. That track is great.

  • JamesGrimm

    Saran.

  • Janitor Jim Duggan

Here’s some news I just read on Facebook: Bobby Blotzer has outsmarted Warren Demartini and has retained the rights to the Ratt name. Next up to get sued is Juan Croucier. I might as well see him while he is still able to perform Ratt songs. RIP Ratt.

  • Waynecro

Thanks for the tip about the Relapse sampler, Dagon. I still remember buying compilation CDs back in the day. That was a big deal before the Internet was a thing.
