Some new jams and some new tour announcements.

TBOS-Packshot_995

August 4th will be the day Pissgrave will release their debut album. And here is a song that is a song off of that aforementioned album. Quite evil black metal with a quite fucked up cover. Vocals aren’t as forefront as on the demo, which means it’s less good (according to Ed, at least).

_________

Wolfheart – the current project of Tuomas Saukkonen (Before The Dawn, Black Sun Aeon…) has released details of their upcoming sophomore. Shadow World will be released on August 21st and you can check the cover art here. Unlike it’s predecessor, Shadow World is a full-band effort – see here for a teaser. If you have enjoyed Saukkonen’s previous projects you will most likely enjoy this one too. Melodic death metal with varying degrees of gothic-influences and some doom-sensitivities. Although the doom was replaced by more ferocious near-blackened riffs on Wolfheart’s debut, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it now. At least he kind of promised to bring back the clean vocals.

_________

Disturbed, oh most noble among bands, has descended to our midst for that we may take their blessing to cherish. And to remind us that there shalt be no twisting of tongues or ill-speak against their word for now that they once more lie unified they hath taken upon themselves the form of the vengeful one. And words they spake – that the coming of their Immortalization shalt be the 21st morn come the dawn of August. Upon this day shall their visage be carved onto mountains like some face of God and their deeds shall no more escape the hearts and minds of men.

_________

Finnish black metal legends Horna have unveiled a new song from their upcoming album Hengen Tulet. No word on the release date yet, but the song can be heard below by all eager ears.

  • Tyree

    New Horna should be tight.

  • I liek the Sword : /

    • The W.

I checked this post before it went live. I had a feeling that line in particular was going to burn butts.

      • KJM

My jimmies are only mildly rustled.

        • old_man_doom

Same. I leik da sword too, but this song ain’t doin’ it for me.

          • KJM

I’m confident that the rest of the album has better stuff

    • OldMetalHead

He’s bored of The Sword, but not of Disturbed?

    • Condom Full Of Croutons

      Even more than the coco?

    • KJM

Me too. The new song isn’t great, but it’s not bad.

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

The last album was a sort of a turning point for me, I knew if they were going to go down the same path they had carefully trodden more and more with each release I’d just give up on them eventually. But if this doesn’t hold any surprises it’ll be the disappointment of the year – and I wasn’t crazy about the last on either.

      • KJM

Whilst I, on the other hand, thought the last album/tour was great. I’ll definitely go see them when they come back to Boston.

        • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

They played here last weekend, but on a fest. Would’ve gone otherwise – they are still very much a band I’d imagine myself t enjoy live, with a beer.

        • I’ve dug the band since I was in high school. The lead guitar player tends bar at one of my favorite spots in town. Super nice guy, so I’ll fully back The Sword.

          • KJM

I’ve only seen them once, but it was a first rate show.

          • Disgustache

Saw them twice, and both times were fucking amazing. Favorite band for me.

          • You ever, ya know, named drop yourself?

Joe: “Ya I started a pretty sweet metal/buttz blog. Maybe ya heard of Toiletovhell.com ?”
Swordtender:”I am going to need to see your ID”

          • We’ve talked about it before. He said he’d be down to do something with us.

          • KJM

            Headliner for ToiletFest!!!

          • oic! I do not remember that exchange…

          • KJM

            Swordtender FTW.

          • Kyle? cosigned, nice as heck!

    • Óðinn

The new song sounds like a different direction. I’m not sure how I feel about that yet. However, I like The Sword. I’ve enjoyed their previous albums. I think they get a lot of undeserved hate.

    • Zeke

what is the best album from the sword?by the way, i do not come to your website to read about fucking Disturbed!

      • HA, me either. This crazy Finn can’t be reasoned with.

Start with Age of Winters. Everyone loves it. Then dig on to Warp Riders for a more stoner 70s vibe.

    • tertius_decimus
    • Do you guys ever get any good tours Link?

      • In 2006/07 and 08 we had good shows. Then, when the Dark Ages of the Dollar control happened, we have no shows right now because the productors of the shows can’t afford paying international bands and funding the entire show because you can’t access freely to dollars and the costs are too expensive.

Sadly, since my family is working class I couldn’t afford all the trips to the shows that I would like to go, so I’m really used to miss everything 😛

        • That’s terrible to hear. We are spoiled here in the US because just about everyone comes through. I really wish countries would get their shit together.

          • Enjoy everything, you don’t know what happen next day!

Right now Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and México are having the biggest set of shows.

          • KJM

Argentina seems to get decent shows as well.

I do my best to live every day as if it were my last. I don’t believe in fate/destiny at all.

          • Live for today because tomorrow is not promised to you. I lifted that line from a song by The Game.

          • Everyone comes through and like half of them live here, lol.

    • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

To spite your existence, it’s what I thrive on.

      • Matt Pike’s Sweaty Left Nipple

Lol it was kinda harsh, but I chuckled. Now I just feel sad for Link.
        Mean ol’ bear-deity…

        #LeaveLinkAlone

  • Tyree

As much as I did enjoy seeing Skepticism this year, I did almost fall asleep during parts of their set.

    • Tyree
      • The W.

I jammed that Balmog album this morning. That song with the chanting was really rad.

        • Tyree

Yeah, I really liked it. I’ve been meaning to give it another listen this morning but have not gotten to it.

  • Trees ‘n Shit is Kvlt O)))

Saw this last night. I wish it was coming near me.

    • The W.

I feel that way about most things.

  • Fuck yes, Wolfheart! I still need to check their full album, but the songs I’ve listened were pretty good.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzxkBoeNG4A

  • Condom Full Of Croutons

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, Pissgrave! Good, wholesome family friendly entertainment.

PS, saw Howard Dean on that message board and noticed I haven’t seen him here in quite a while.

    • Tyree

I’ve heard nothing but great things about their live performances too. Heard from quite a lot of people that they are fucking loud as shit. I’m hoping they tour after they put their new album out or at least get on the MDF roster. I missed them unfortunately when they toured with Dead Congregation.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o70S1MQAi9U

      • Condom Full Of Croutons

I’d imagine they’re loud as fuck, considering how insanely fucking thick their sound is.

        • Tyree

Those pitch shifted vocals too. Gawdamn are those demonic.

    • Howard Dean has vacated the toilet and will not return.

      • KJM

        : (

      • Condom Full Of Croutons

        Damn, that sucks. WTF happened?!?

        #ByahhhhhNeverForget

        • I honestly don’t know, just being a dick as I just woke up and felt like doing so lol.

          • Condom Full Of Croutons

            Even more confused now.

  • tertius_decimus

That Skepticism cover art is a neat way for trolling your r’n’b-listening colleagues.

    — Look, Sandra, it’s a new star rising in pop music, yay! Lemme check this for ya!
    — Okay, sure!

  • Max

Just got back from the pictures, where I saw Going Clear. Very interesting documentary.

I was wondering where Dust Moth had gotten to lately. I wonder if they’ve put out a full-length yet. Sucks about the van.

General comment about metal and such.

    • MAX!

I DON’T KNOW WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, BUT I’M HAPPY TO SEE YOU AROUND!

      LL

      • Max

Hello Link! I’m just about to go to bed actually, but I figured I’d drop in on the Toilet first. Usually I don’t arrive until breakfast time.

Going Clear is a documentary about Scientology. I saw it at the movies. Two nights ago I finally went and saw Mad Max Fury Road; so it’s been a busy week for me at the cinema. This weekend I’m planning on perhaps seeing The Room.

Cinema is arguably an art-form comparable to metal.

        • Indeed.

I don’t know what’s about that scientology, but I hope I can check it because of you. I need to check Mad Max too.

The last thing I was watching was Penny Dreadful. And the last movie I watched was last Godzilla film. Nothing really artsy 😛

Good night to you, then. Hope everything runs good in your place n_n)/

          • Max

            Cheers, bro!

          • KJM

Scientology is a cult founded by a con artist/bad sci-fi writer named L Ron Hubbard.
            http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xpkh2d_south-park-proved-right-about-scientology_news

          • Max

Coincidentally (in relation to Link’s comment), he wrote lots of penny dreadfuls.

One thing I learned from the doco is that Hubbard holds a Guiness record for most number of books published by a single author: Over a thousand.

          • *Checking what Penny Dreadful means*

            :O

Didn’t knew what Penny Dreadful meaning 😛

I will search for Hubbard and Scientology. Thanks guys!

          • KJM

That video I posted is a good place to start.

          • Agregado a favoritos 😉

        • The Room >>>>>>
have you seen it in theatres? fun stuff

          • Max

Hopefully this weekend I shall. I’m ready to fling cutlery at the screen, or whatever the custom is.

    • KJM

Going Clear looks interesting. I’ll see it eventually.

      • Max

Not necessarily a film one needs to go to the cinema to “get the full experience of”, I must say, but hey – I had the theatre all to myself! I felt like Michael Jackson at Neverland. Except Jacko probably didn’t drink beer while he watched movies.

I was slouched across two seats; I tried for three but I’m just not that decadent enough.

        • KJM

I watch most movies at home anyway.

          • Max

I don’t have Netflicks or anythang at home; so if I want to see a new-release film it’s still the cinema for me. But I like it. The cinema’s less-popular these days so you don’t generally have to put up with too many other people; and I still enjoy the big-screen experience. And rolling Jaffas down the aisle to trip up other patrons. And making out with your girlfriend until the usher shines a torch in your face and turns into a lycanthrope. So you fling your bucket of popcorn in his face to buy time and hit the accelerator to drive away, but you forgot to unhook the speaker-thingy. And the whole town gets quarantined by The Man because you’re all turning into contagious zombies. Fuckin’ sucks.

          • The W.

That was a lot of Australian in one paragraph.

          • Max

            I’m trying to economize, mate.

          • Lacertilian

The red herring is the use of the word cinema.
People call them “the movies” here for the most part.
            @disqus_tQGvq7i64T:disqus has dun learnin’ gud.

          • KJM

I wish we still had drive-ins here. There’s only a couple left in Massachusetts and they’re way too far from Boston.

          • The W.

That is one of the few nice things about where I live. We have a very affordable drive-in. Only 6 or 7 bucks per ticket, and you get to see two movies.

          • Max

            Double-features are inordinately rad.

          • The W.

And, as you hinted, if you don’t like one of the movies, you can just make out the whole time.

          • Max

Exactly! That’s the beauty of mixing genres: Most people are bound to not like one and find some way to divert themselves. Space Hunter was paired with Hercules. I liked both, but I was just an impressionable kid.

The Drive-In’s truly rad. You can even slash the seats without getting into trouble.

          • Max

I once saw Space Hunter at the drive-in! Featuring a young Molly Ringwald.

          • KJM

I saw that in the theater, in 3D even!

          • Max

            3-D Molly Ringwald? WhOAH.

          • Tyree
          • KJM

            John Hughes’ best movie IMO.

          • Max

All of his movies are his best movie.

          • KJM

16 Candles is the only one I would want to see again.

          • Max

            But sixteen times!

          • KJM

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve seen that one.

          • Tyree

            “Married!?!”

            “Yes! Jeeeezzzz!”

          • KJM

            “Ugh…canine cologne.”

          • Tyree

            Planes Trains and Automobiles BRO!!!

          • KJM

            Good point.

          • Tyree

That Judas Priest shirt. Nerding it up!!!

          • Paddlin’ Rites ov Beargod

I just wanted to barge in to say: I don’t go to movies a lot but I do, usually I just watch movies once they’re a little older and more easily available. But when I do go to movies I usually go to morning shows, literally me + 2 people in a moderately big hall.

          • Max

It’s a deeply-held lamentation of mine that my city doesn’t have a cinema that regularly screens old films. I’d be there all the time. Police Academy 4, Soul Man, Taxi Driver, Singin’ in the Rain, um….Highlander, Body Double….they’d take more money outta my wallet than the record shop, you mark my words.

          • The W.

We just got an Alama Drafthouse in the last few years. They serve beer during the movies and screen independent/old films. I’m really hoping they pick up the next Godzilla movie made by Toho next year.

          • Max

What you’ve described is just about the pinnacle of civilization.

The next time I go I’ll see if I can get a glass of champagne to go with the popcorn.

Actually, no – I’ll get an ice-cream and, substituting the lemonade with the champagne, make an alcoholic Spider.

          • The W.

I drank craft beer and watched The Babadook. It was a great day.

          • Tyree

            That’s how it’s done sir.

          • Max

I was just thinking about that tonight, actually: Alcoholic beverages served at the movies is one of very few ways in which I can say the modern world actually HAS gotten better. It didn’t used to be that way, yet it’s one of those things where you think, “Why the hell did it take us so long to come up with such a simple yet intuitively sensible idea?”

          • The W.

The only concern is breaking the seal.

          • Max

Oh, they opened the bottle for me before I went in; so even that wasn’t an issue.

          • The uh… bladder seal, he means.

          • The W.

As Joe says. Is that not a term in Australia? It’s that first time you take a leak when you’ve been drinking. Afterwards, you’re forced to go every ten minutes or so.

          • Max

I’ve not encountered that vernacular before! Although I’ve certainly experienced it – especially about the needing to go repeatedly after one’s “broken the seal” as you chaps put it.

My solution is to drink no fluids an hour before showtime, take a preparatory piss before entering the theatre, and don’t start drinking the beer until you’re in there and seated. One bottle isn’t gonna make you get up a few reels in if you’ve got a reasonably strong bladder.

          • The W.

I got pretty much the same. I don’t think I’ve had to leave the theater to use the bathroom during a movie since I was a kid.

          • Lacertilian

            Widely used.

          • Tyree

Yeah, I agree. We have a theater here that does the same. But, they rarely show anything worth seeing. They’ll get a good indie film or something every couple of months and that’s it.

          • RJA

I drank craft beer and watched Inside Out with my kids – basically the same thing right?

          • The W.

I can’t knock you for it.

          • more beer

Just drinking craft beer makes for a great day. Without watching anything.

          • The W.

I’ll drink to that. America has a lot of problems, but we have the best beer in the world.

          • more beer

Yes we do! We need a way to forget all of our problems.Craft beer may not be the answer but it is a great temporary escape from them.

          • Max

I first read that as “America has a lot of beer, but we have the best problems in the world.”

          • more beer

I have this to look forwad to after work. Not one is below 7% abv. Some asshat told me it was all pussy beer. He knows nothing of beer.

          • The W.

Ruination! I had two really good stouts/porters the other night at Flying Saucer. One was the Deep Ellum double brown. Trying to remember the name of the other.

          • more beer

The Odell’s Myrcenary Double IPA is very good their other IPA in the right hand corner is also good. I haven’t tried the two on top But the Sam Adams is 10.9% and the Mission is a 9.5%. All were gifts so that makes them even better. Free beer is the best beer!

          • Tyree

            HOT DAMN!

          • more beer

All outstanding beers. Life is good. Plus it saves me money that I can use when I see Primitive Man again on Saturday.

          • Tyree

How many times have you seen them?

          • more beer

This will be the third time. They always kick ass. But they said they won’t be playing any shows for a while. So i don’t want to miss them. I didn’t go see them with sleep because the tickets were pretty expensive.

          • Max

If you don’t want to watch anything specific while drinking, I highly recommend the test pattern. Assume they still have that on TV now.

          • more beer

I really just prefer music when I drink.

      • KJM

You did it so I wouldn’t have to. Thanks.

        • Condom Full Of Croutons

I sat through the whole thing just for a goof (and a disturbing amount of self hatred). It’s…………… I can’t come up with the adjective that can describe the horror I felt. I need about 9 kegs of Dimitri vodka, 40 lbs of krokodil and a full frontal lobotomy to ease the shame.

Flying Spaghetti Monster help me, it’s even worse than Darkthrone!

          • I Am A Lobster

I can go get that krokodil for you. I’m buddies with Putin.

          • I’m infected with it. Here, take mine.

          • Condom Full Of Croutons

Nah, he slipped me some plutonium in there before. Or was that Uranium? Hard to remember after half my brain dripping out my ears.

          • KJM

I tried listening to them once.

The fuck hey now!! Whatever happened to their relative skill with instruments? This sounds like a crossbreed of their old selves and Here’syourfuckingNickelBack.!?

Have you ever tried this band? Really sorry I didn’t get this album when it was for 3€. Later the band got a little better production values (but not too good) and made a killer EP with one of the best Burzum covers recorded.

          • Herr Schmitty

Oh man, I love you bro. You and your family help pay my bills. We insure a fuck-ton of lobster boats up here in Maine, suh!

          • I mean… Lobsters are safer in North América more than I am in Maracaibo?!

          • Herr Schmitty

No, probably not. Approximately 90% of the lobsters eaten in the USA are caught in my state. We insure all the commercial lobster vessels in the state, so we’re a big part of it.

This is a lobster-hunting state through and through, where I live. Definitely safer to be a Maracaibo Malandro.

Yep, lobster is very popular even in the Northeastern states where it’s plentiful.

          • I’m In Love With Tha DooDoo

I’m in VA, and the seafood industry is huge here as well. Not so much lobster as crab and fish, especially around Chesapeake and here in Hampton Roads.

          • KJM

The advantage of living in a major port area; great freakin’ seafood including sushi.

          • I’m In Love With Tha DooDoo

Haven’t seen much of that around here. I make my own nowadays.

          • KJM

Even the supermarket sushi around here is okay.

          • Herr Schmitty

YES. I was shocked that places like Shaw’s… make good sushi. Down south @ Publix, it’s always dried/shitty rice, mediocre fish (at least at the grocery store; the sushi restaurants were usually damn good.)

          • I’m In Love With Tha DooDoo

It is over here too as long as you get it early in the day. Some of the Walgreens here have it but NEVER ever get that shit!

          • The W.

Schmitty, I enjoy most things from the sea, but I had a lobster bisque on my honeymoon that was just too rich for my blood. The lobster chimichanga was the bees knees though.

          • Herr Schmitty

Yeah, I tend to like things like plain lobster and dipping butter or a lobster roll better than bisque or casseroles; something about adding a ton of fats/carbs to a seafood protein doesn’t really work for me either.

We’ve got a place up here called J’s Oyster that I usually take visitors to that does a GREAT tasting Lobster Casserole, but it’s incredibly dense with bread crumbs and cream, and if you eat more than half (it’s a relatively small dish, relative to American Restaurant Portions) you will feel bloated and sick for an hour or two. Bourdain went there on his jaunt through Maine… and was smart enough to just get some fresh steamahs. http://www.travelchannel.com/shows/anthony-bourdain/travel-guides/maine-travel-guide

  • Pissgrave: Super excited. I’ve like three songs from their demo but I cannot get it anywhere. I’m glad this album will be more attainable.
Wolfheart: Cool artwork. I’ll probably check it out.
