It is Friday. Let us begin the ritual.
>Draw the curtains, light a candle
>Summon the spirits of departed souls
>Reach into the chamber of ice
>Crack open a cold one with the boys

It’s a three day weekend, you guys! Thank Christ. After last week’s death storm, I could surely use an extra day away from work. Due to a few complications caused by the aforementioned death storm, I need an extra day to complete your Patreon rewards for this month. Everyone can expect digital awards to go live on Monday and tapes to hit the mail on Tuesday. If you have any questions or concerns with your Patreon rewards, please feel free to reach out. In the meantime, I’m headed back to my gross office to finish editing another podcast episode.

The floor is yours. Thank you for your continued support of this particular digitized water closet. We’ll see you tomorrow.

Did you dig this? Take a second to support Toilet ov Hell on Patreon!

Feels like an early winter this year, ayuh. Temps in the low-to-mid 30’s… at the end of August?? Crikey. However, low temps aren’t a massive death-dealing storm so I won’t complain too much.

Looking forward to the weekend and some food/drink.

Anyone remember these gals from the 90’s? I always enjoyed hearing their stuff when it came on the radio or MTV back in the day. I heard “Volcano Girls” the other day and it got me thinking about them. Pretty decent. Plus they were hot as hell–perfect for a riled up dude like adolescent HD. I was all OVER Veruca Salt for about two weeks in high school. They were catchy.

    • I once played in a 90s cover band that covered “Volcano Girls.” That one goes over VERY well with the ladies in attendance, let me tell you.

They reunited in 2015 and released an album called Ghost Notes, which is pretty good if you dug American Thighs and Eight Arms to Hold You.

I always though Louise was the prettier of the two. She got real fat in the mid 2000s but is back in shape now

      • Howard Dean

Always was more into Nina, though they were both hot. Nina just had a look about her… a certain edge.

I need to return since videotapes.

The Good: LONG WEEKEND MY DUDEEEEEEEEEES

The Bad: Houston. Hoping things get better for those guys.

The Ugly: The DMU posts about metalsucks lately. Also the lack of DMU posts about TovH lately. Someone needs to make up that latest meme with the dude looking away from his girlfriend, with DMU and the Toilet. I’m FAR too lazy to do that.

    • TheGranulatingDarkSatanicMilfs

DMU and MS are more alike than different. Fuck both of them. TOILET 4 LIFE!!!

      • KJM, Anla’Shok

The DMU guys are so far in the closet that they can see Narnia.

  • Good: this is my weekend off.

Gooder: more Final Fantasy IX to the accompaniment of either old vinyl (Genesis’ “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” currently) or sweet death metal (Witch Vomit and Paganizer’s latest albums, Rogash’s “Malevolence”).

    That is all.

    • The Tetrachord of Archytas

This was a tough upvote because covering up that glorious ix soundtrack is heresy but genesis and death metal is also good

  • Freedom Jew

Good: Vacation starts in 25 minutes.
Better: 11 days in a row off!
    Best: ProgPower USA!
Bester: Finished an important milestone in my life yesterday. High fives all around.

    • Howard Dean

Was it a milestone birthday? Graduation? Silver anniversary? Sobriety? One week without fapping?

      • Freedom Jew

Jew thing. Gut Shabbos to you, sir.

  • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

Good: new Akercocke is better than I expected it would be. Not the masterfulness of Choronzon and Words That Go Unspoken… but as far as comebacks go, it’s a good.

Bad: the fucking climate. What a fucking shit summer.

Ugly: THE FUCKING CLIMATE. I haven’t even been able to go for ONE swim. One. Single. Swim. Remind me, why am I working my ass off in the gym all year?

    • KJM, Anla’Shok

I used to love Summer, now I can’t wait for it to end. Unfortunately I’m not too crazy about Winter either. Spring & Autumn ftw.

      • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

I’m a Spring guy all the way. First time of the year when all the miniskirts come out.

      • TheGranulatingDarkSatanicMilfs
        • KJM, Anla’Shok

Massachusetts gets Autumn right every single year. Spring tends to be okay for about 4-6 weeks before it turns into a live-in Sauna until September.

    • Sir Ukkometso The Based

I’ve swam a lot this summer. Our family summer cottage is build on a lakeshore, so easy swimming.

  • Hans

Good (hopefully): Will be hitting a big renaissance fare kinda thing on Sunday. Should be fun.

Music: Still busy with all that Finnish death. Convulse and Depravity are really cool, and I was already rather taken with Rippikuolo when they were submitted to RotW (by the Lizard, I believe).
Of the newer bands, I dug Lantern’s sophomore. That led me to Dark Descent, which led me to FINALLY give Horrendous the attention they deserve. Bit of a revelation there. Shit’s bonkers.

    • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

I haven’t been able to get into Horrendous. Dunno why, something feels “lacking” for me and I can’t really put my finger on what it may be.
Finnish dm on the other hand >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

      • RJA

We all have bands like that don’t we? I listened to this one probably 100 times when the album came out.
        https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w_UpOPjrtLE

        • RJA

Mine would probably be vektor – sorry guys!

        • FrankWhiteKingOfNY

It’s not a bad album at all, in fact it IS good. Just something about it doesn’t stick with me. That same year Anareta was released (or was it the year before? Don’t really remember), I absolutely loved (and continue to do so) Morbus Chron’s Sweven and there were many who didn’t “get” that album either. So it all kinda boils down to the good old: ymmv.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAxcd1v72x0

          • RJA

Never gave Morbus Chron a thorough listen – I shall do that!

    • Sir Ukkometso The Based

      *Rippikoulu
Do not insult our imaginary language!

      • Hans

Dammit, I knew I was gonna fuck it up.

        • Sir Ukkometso The Based

Although misspelling “Rippikoulu” as “Rippikuolo” is somewhat fitting (“kuolo” meaning death).

  • The Tetrachord of Archytas

Good: been a decent week all things considered

Bad: getting our carpets done today so for someone who can’t currently walk or do anything without assistance it means I’m confined to one room for the day

Ugly: I had to cut four glorious years of long hair while in the hospital and it’s really starting to dawn on me what I’ve lost

So technically there are still three weeks of Summer to go. If you’re anything like me when you’re fixated on academic life you tend to time the “Seasons” by the respective Academic terms and totally forget that the weather should stay mostly Summery until late September. Not that it ever does. That said, if you non-locals came out here during the ‘height’ of our Summer you’d probably think it was mid-Spring, and there’s virtually no Winter to speak of apart from the occasional actually-chronologically-late-Autumn sprinkling of snow. So I guess it’s all relative.

If Autumn does creep in, it comes in the form of an awkward two week period I think less of as “Fall” and more as “Drop” because that’s when all the Oak trees simultaneously drop their leaves and acorns on all the neighbourhood. I’m still waiting for the inevitable lawsuit due to injury to one or another of the sudden infestation of small children up our block that’s nearly as much a plague as the deer and squirrels. Should be fun to see all the Oak preservation nuts clash with parents.

If only there was a way to also get them to go to war with the deer preservation nuts who bus in from other municipalities to take up sing-waving offense to any attempt to control that problem.

Anyway. I’m going to have to continue prepping Lab Course materials this weekend, as I slightly underestimated how much time I’d need this week (and was sick for the two before that). Fun stuff. I’m debating sneaking metal lyrics into Lab notes, but can’t find anything topically relevant yet ambiguous enough to slip in without t being noticed and turned into a complaint by some stick-in-the-mud student or other.

GOOD: It’s the long weekend. Terminator 2 3D is in theaters (might go check that out since I didn’t get to see it on the initial run back in 1991). It’s also the fireworks fest so might check that out one night. Got the rest of my NIN records on the mail and they were packed nicely this time and totally mint. They even sent me a new sleeve for Deviations packed in exactly the manner I described in the bitch fest email I sent Sandbag when I got the album in the mail mangled. I’m working on a cool shirt design for a local death metal band Wrought and it progressing nicely.

BAD/UGLY: Been fighting with my significant for several days and it’s gotten pretty ugly.

    But….

ALSO GOOD: we’re working our shit out and both want to move forward.

    • T2 in 3D sounds purr-fect! let me know how it is. i’ve got fingers crossed they release it on blu-ray in the fyoocha

      • sweetooth0

Have I got news for you: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0744872GF

        • sweetooth0

shittily the 3D version only appears to be available from the UK at this time, but I suspect it’s region free. There’s probably a set without the endo arm too I’m sure.

          • many companies believe that the 3D fad is over, and have stopped producing 3D blu-rays (or have made them scarce). SAD!
well, it’s not incredibly sad. i feel like one of, like 20 people who have invested in the technology 😉

          • sweetooth0

I “future proofed” my collection buying some titles in 3D, and now with the 4K thing they’re basically abandoning it. Which really sucks, because now is when you can actually do it real justice. I mean you can have full 2K resolution to each eye and full passive 3D (meaning you can just use the plastic glasses from the theater). My buddies 4K TV has 3D and it looked incredible. Sucks ass. Of course I’m in no position to buy a new TV, so I just hope when I finally do upgrade, I can still get one with 3D.

  • Depechemodeisgangsta

Past 2 weeks been kind of busy, today was finally a day that i could just relax and was able to come here and check couple of articles, as always super entertaining and even better community.
Hope for the best for the People of Houston, living here in Miami, i have been through a couple of Hurricanes and they always suck, and September is really our Hurricane season, is when Hurricanes comes this way, hopefully we do not get any this year.
But on a good note, i have 4 concerts this month, 3 pop/rock each every friday, today goo goo dolls, then Bryan Adams, then my favorite DEPECHE MODE i been looking forward since March, and last one Toxic Holocaust with Goathwore, never seen Goathwore but looking forward to it, also Venom INC will be there, but HOT TAKE, once i seen Toxic and Goathwore i will be leaving.
Hope everyone has a good Holiday weekend.

    • more beer

I am doing the same thing at the GoatwGoatwhore show here next week. I have seen the original Venom numerous times. This is nothing but a cover band to me. Without Cronos it is not Venom.

      • GoatForest

        Whooooaaa! Not black metal!

        • more beer

Not by today’s standards but it was in 1983.

          • GoatForest

            I agree.

      • Depechemodeisgangsta

TBH i’m not a big fan of Black Metal, and i do understand the place that Venom has on the “Metal History” being one of the 1st extreme bands, with basically a “Gimmick” having fireworks, the devil worshiper stuff, but i just can’t get into their music, i will be buying my ticket next week, just in case it gets sold out, since is basically on a Bar/Pub the venue and at most is probably 200-300 people.

        • more beer

I am not a huge black metal fan either. It is very hit or miss for me. But in 80’s Venom was doing things not too many other bands were doing. So I have always hard a soft spot in my heart for them. But this 2 separate band thing is ridiculous, one of the things about Venom was Cronos’s voice being unique. I just don’t see how Venom Inc, thinks they are pulling this off without his vocals.

          • Depechemodeisgangsta

I legit had to google Venom INC cause it’s basically the same logo as Venom, but then i noticed that the singer who is the one that i recognize more is nowhere to be found.

          • more beer

Because he isn’t the real singer.

  • Lord of Bork

Good: Finally got around to listening to Blood Incantation. It’s fucking fire and I have no idea what I was thinking by not listening to them sooner.
Bad: The 10% of my clients that I spend 90% of my time on are trying to send me to an early grave.

    • more beer

Let me add they are a Colorado band and since you live here you should have known.

      • Lord of Bork

I’m assuming they’re based in Denver? Down my way we’ve got 1 shitty black metal band in Manitou and that’s about it.

        • more beer

Yea they are a Denver band. I am wondering if they are the shitty black metal band I saw at the Black Sheep with Jungle Rot? You have 99 Bottles down there who are an awesome Oi! Band as well as Piojos from Pueblo who are very good and a good bunch of guys.

  • TheGranulatingDarkSatanicMilfs

Marla Maples is hotter than Melania Knauss. Who agrees?

  • more beer

Good next Saturday me and my boys are brewing a concept beer we came up with at Black Sky Brewery. We get to help with the whole brewing process. It is going to be a sick beer with an abv around 10.4%.

  • Janitor Jim Duggan

Good: my fantasy football draft is tomorrow, seeing Ten Years After on the 24th

    Bad: my computer is broken

    Ugly: none

  • GoatForest

    Good: Harvey barely grazed me.
Bad: It did not barely graze a lot folks.
Ugly: I have developed some sort of stomache issue over the last few days where I am popping antacids like candy because my innards are burning, and I am shitting like five times a day. I think I may need to see a doctor.

  • The Mighty Thorange

Bad: Got the result for my re-it and it was still a fail so I will have to graduate with a Bachelors Degree instead of an Honours degree.
Good: Despite not passing I have had some great experiences studying this past year that I would not have had the chance to do otherwise. Like getting to work with a museum and write music based on some of their artefacts and then play a metal gig in one of their exhibition rooms. I don’t think many people can say they did that so I can at least say I haven’t wasted an entire year of study.
Ugly: Job hunting is fast becoming even more tedious and frustrating every fucking day.
