I don’t have to work today either! Gonna go see Doctor Strange here shortly.

    • Joaquin Stick

I think I might go see that on election day, just to not be around a television and unable to check the news and have panic attacks all evening.

      • more beer

No matter who wins. We all lose.

        • I feel bad for you if you think Hillary is half as bad as a Trump presidency.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

Oh cool, political discussions. Can we discuss God vs. Satan next? My money is on Satan. Hail evil.

          • Joaquin Stick

I’m reading Paradise Lost currently, and I’d have to agree. God is such a bitch. Satan does what he’s gotta do.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

I mean c’mon. Satan’s just trying to live his life.

          • I mean Satan has all the kickin’ tunes but by account he’s been in he didn’t create the universe or wipe out all life on Earth because he was pissed.

          • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

That is something I can agree with. Music about Satan is so much better than religious music.

          • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

That’s because he just wants to party and hang out.

I didn’t vote for either of them. They are both horrible people who don’t have our best interests on their agendas.

            (Please?)

          • more beer

Don’t you keep up with what is going on? There is no lesser evil. They are both evil. Trump is completely insane. Hilary is an absolute liar who is only out for herself and big business.

          • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

Actually I do because all my dad talks about is politics. Even he believes that there is no lesser evil.

          • more beer

            Because there isn’t one.

          • more beer

That’s what i did. Fuck both of them. At least I know i didn’t support either one of them.

          • One is an establishment politician, the likes of which have fronted American politics since basically forever. We’ve had them before, we’ll have them again, life goes on. The other is an ethno-nationalist fascist. Don’t kid yourself into thinking they’re equally as bad.

If that is what you think and just keep towing the party line. Nothing will ever change or get better.

          • This is a wholly ignorant, thought-terminating cliche if I’ve ever seen one.

            >Nothing will ever change or get better.

I’m glad not everyone in the world thinks like this, otherwise things like, y’know, slavery and segregation wouldn’t get better.

          • more beer

Yea because the establishment politicians have done such a good job. If you haven’t noticed things are worse than they have ever been since WW II. But don’t let that truth get in the way of you supporting the establishment.

          • Joaquin Stick

            Things are fine.

          • That’s a really fucking white, solipsistic way of looking at things. If I look at the way things have changed, I’ll see PLENTY of progress has been made. Medicine and technology are improving constantly to make people’s lives better. Human rights, for blacks, gays, Asians, has improved DRASTICALLY. War is still terrible but it’s no longer a massive, continent affair that kills 80 million people. I’ve NOTICED, pal, believe me.

          • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

You should hear my dad talk about politics. He’s extremely knowledgeable about it.

          • Wasn’t your dad going to vote Republican?

          • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

He is. He knows so much about politics though that he can back up why he’s voting for who he’s voting for. He spends every hour he’s at home watching ESPN and Fox News and reading about politics and even at work he’s reading up on the election.

          • Sorry bro, but anyone who watches Fox News and votes red isn’t someone whose opinions I care for in the least.

          • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

It’s fine. I don’t hold it against you. I personally hate talking about politics.

          • Sir Crawfish The Based

He’s voting for the wrong kind of red.

          • Óðinn

No offense, but Fox mostly misinforms its viewers, and ESPN is a sports channel.

          • Joaquin Stick

Almost spit out my water. Thanks lol.

          • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

            I meant CNN.

          • Óðinn

            I see.

Unfortunately, CNN isn’t much more informative. They get caught up in false equivalences between the right and the left, and rarely do their job to actually inform people. If your father really wants to learn about politics, first he should stop watching Fox altogether, and then start getting the news from sources that are quite a bit more informative and truthful. There are many sources for information available. A few examples below.

Yea because selling our country out to the highest bidder is a great plan. Allowing big pharmaceutical companies to get how many millions of people get strung out on opiates?? Is working out so well. While there are alternatives that are safer. That they try to keep away from people who are sick in the name of their profits is really working out well also. Profits over people is the name of the game now. So like I said keep towing the party line.

          • Joaquin Stick

It’s funny, I think we all agree on those points, but like, what’s your solution? I think we are just hoping for tiny incremental change, because moonshots seem to be getting rarer and rarer.

          • more beer

First people have to realize there are other choices out there. We are so hung up on this two party system. We should be voting out every incumbent politician. Since they have only been looking out for themselves and their special interests. There are 20 other people on the ballot for president here. No one knows because the media pays them no mind. More than anything people need to start thinking for themselves. Take out the trash and get rid of the old guard. Lastly we need to stop selling ourselves out the corporations.

          • Joaquin Stick

I mean, sure, over the long term these things would be good, but in the next 4 days? Just gotta make due with the opportunities I have until something better comes along.

          • more beer

Over the next 4 days we are fucked. But nothing better will come along until people are willing to really bring about change. Not this implied change where things stay the same.

          • We need wholesale changes, especially in the House, Senate & Governorships. If you have people doing a crappy job in your state, vote them out and send them packing. We need more people like Sanders and Warren in these spots and less people like Ryan and Cruz. An informed electorate is what is also needed to bring about that change. This election is proof that we are lacking in that area.

          • more beer

I agree. But it seems not enough people realize this.

          • Only wise people.

          • SURELY YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT OWLSWALD, RIGHT?

          • Precisely

          • >Profits over people is the name of the game now.

Lol you think that’s a new problem? It’s not. It’s been true since the industrial revolution allowed wealthy capitalists to hold vast amounts of wealth and influence, and make people work 12 hours a day for shit wages. Fighting and organizing for their rights made things improve. Fighting for change now will improve things later. Getting a flagrantly corrupt billionaire crony capitalist who brings out the white nationalism in large parts of the country, advocates war crimes and ripping out the social support systems that millions of disenfranchised Americans need to exist is blatantly worse than a standard establishment politician. Yeah, everything isn’t perfect right now, but one choice here is worse. Keep up that lily-white straight dude privilege though, you freshman-year nihilist.

          • more beer

What part of I didn’t vote for either of them do you not understand? Yea there will be change electing either of these two candidates. Change for the worst. Wow that is some serious SJW bullshit there. If I don’t agree with you you just throw out things like lily white privilege rhetoric. Do me a favor get fucked.

          • >calling someone an SJW unironically
            snerk

Oh I understand you aren’t voting for either of them because you’re either ignorant, or insulated against the worst of the nationalist fallout electing Trump will cause, and given that you’re an American commenting on a metal blog, I can only logically assume so many things. Like you have the privilege of being either or all of the white, heterosexual, able-bodied, financially secure, and (gasp!) cisgender.

In other words the exact sort of person who stands to lose the least if someone like Trump gets elected, white nationalism surges, social reforms get torn down, whoever Trump ends up picking for the Supreme Court and blocks any sort of progressive legislation, and last but not least (or only) the ripple effect of right-wing nationalists running for elections in other countries get emboldened and put into power. Hilary might be corrupt, but in terms of relative moral shortcomings and potential for real harm done she’s unquestionably the lesser of two evils.

Because this contest will come down to either Trump or Hilary, the former being worse, I will vote for Hillary, because I’m registered to vote in a swing state. Let’s face it, none of the third party candidates have the momentum or numbers to win an election, let alone the party infrastructure to run the country. Our best chance for something approaching a progressive candidate went out the window when Sanders bowed out earlier this year, so now it comes down to damage control.

But hey, you’re still going to do your duty and vote on propositions and local representatives to improve things on a grassroots local level, right?

          • Waynecro

The United States needs a Zune party.

          • more beer

You really have issues with understanding things don’t you? Let me tell you again. You throw out white privilege when someone doesn’t agree with you. I am far from privileged. I have a small business and work my ass off. When the last recession hit it wrecked me. I had to start over again from scratch. Where exactly is the privilege in that?I didn’t get bailed out. I had to go to work for someone else and build things up again. None of these candidates give a shit about people like me or you for that matter. Like I said before keep towing the party line.

          • >you throw out white privilege when someone doesn’t agree with you
Alright let’s ignore everything else and go for this.
I notice that you have not denied that you are white, straight, able-bodied or cisgender, so you still have privilege, yes. It’s not a binary have/have not thing, it’s a spectrum, one you happen to be on the more fortunate end of. You will most likely not find your business, home, or family as displaced targets of working-class white rage, nor the target of police for looking scruffy and out of place. You have an inborn advantage many in this country do not. Hence, you have “privilege.”
Oh and the phrase is “toe the party line”, not “tow.”

And a grammar Nazi to boot. Enjoy your white guilt. I don’t suffer from that affliction. Once again get fucked!

No such race as Hispanic by they way. Ask the census bureau. You are either black or white.

          • Óðinn

Sounds like an ethnicity vs. race argument.

          • It’s a fair point to make, and one worth making, for sure, but the point of contention was whether the US Census Bureau legally recognizes Latino/Hispanics as a group, which they do, basically, even if the actual definition is fairly broad.

          • Óðinn

Yes. Just hoping to bring some context and understanding, since the census bureau does recognize Hispanic specifically as an ethnicity. I think more beer was thinking in terms of race. Anyway, it’s bound to be a contentious issue.

No I went out and did things. Unlike you I venture out into the world little boy. I don’t stay locked in a safe space jerking off to Hilary Clinton. I lost nothing. Do you understand how opinions work? All you did was state opinions. By the way Hispanic is an ethnicity not a race. But don’t let that little fact get in the way. By the way in most of your posts you sound like Axl Rosenberg. That is something for you to be really proud of.

          • LOL THIS DUDE

YALL LOOK OUT, HE’S GOING OUTSIDE AND WALKING AROUND AND DOING THINGS

          • >No I went out and did things.

And then came back. Hence, “came back.” A+ reading comprehension, good job 👏👏👏, you’re cartoonishly butthurt at someine you envision to be a child, what an adult! Three cheers for the real world, everyone!
While we’re on that subject though, I’m in my early twenties, work a full time job, and live in apartment I found on Craigslist after dropping out of college. Somehow all this “real world” hasn’t changed my principles, funny that. Or, y’know, whatever you were trying to say. It’s plainly obvious you’re defaulting to your personal loved experience because you ran out of rhetorical tools.

            >Do you understand how opinions work? All you did was state opinions.
Man you are SUPER good at projecting. I did present arguments, you just stopped making token attempts at rebutting them after I called you white. Ad hominem and strawman attacks like kind you’ve been making do not constitute arguments.

            >By the way Hispanic is an ethnicity not a race
Doesn’t change the fact that 3/4 of my family has been in this country for little over 50 years, and being a Spanish-speaking minority group from Latin America they damn sure didn’t benefit from the systematized oppression of non-whites. I don’t have “white guilt” (hilarious that you use that as an insult btw), I have the guts to acknowledge that I have advantages others don’t because of they way I look and the way I talk, and people who don’t look like me and don’t talk like me have a system built on hundreds of years of white supremacy working against them. It’s called having principles.

            >By the way in most of your posts you sound like Axl Rosenberg.
            I couldn’t care less.

While I agree one is (way) worse than the other, voting for her is basically endorsing her campaign’s shitty behavior. It makes future politicians believe they can get away with shit like that. Politicians are supposed to earn your vote, and I don’t think she has earned mine

          • In theory, yes, absolutely. And in reality Hilary does fail many an ideological purity test, this is also true. However, our best bet for an alternative went out the window when she got the Democratic nomination and Bernie didn’t, so now we find ourselves in a situation where we’re going to have to get our hands dirty if we don’t want the worst to come to pass.

They really knocked ot out of the park with this one.

        • Eliza

I’m glad to hear that. Earlier this year, I was a tad disappointed with Civil War, but I’ve been excited for Doctor Strange since the first trailer was released. It looked different in a very good way. I’m definitely going to see this while it’s still in theatres.

          • Señor Jefe El Rosa

Dr Strange is the most different marvel film I’ve seen. Visually, quite stunning. I highly recommend theatre if you have the chance.

          • Eliza

By the time it will arrive here, my friend and I will have already bought tickets for it. So of course I’ll go see it.

          • Señor Jefe El Rosa

            That’s great!!

          • Eliza

Yeah, we both are huge Marvel fangirls.

    • Óðinn

      Fuck yeah! Enjoy!

      • Señor Jefe El Rosa

Dammit, I was going to do something, now I’m just gonna sit here and listen to this masterpiece.

      • nbm02ss

One of the best songs to be a jukebox nazi with.

        • Señor Jefe El Rosa

I’ve done that more than once. Also with Echoes by Pink Floyd.

          • nbm02ss

Whenever my favorite bar gets invaded by bros it’s 2112 time.

          • Señor Jefe El Rosa

            Hell yeah

  • Joaquin Stick

Good: Cubs! And the Bears are off this week, so I can be happy for a few extra days.
Good: Had a vertical tasting of imperial stouts aged 2012-2016 yesterday, t’was excellent.
Good: I am somehow not even a little hungover.
G00d: New Dark Tranquility was a good morning listen, where’s Link at?!
Good: I became an Uncle on Wednesday. Babies that aren’t mine are cool.

    • Señor Jefe El Rosa

That all sounds great. In particular the vertical stout tasting

      • Joaquin Stick

It was! The 2014 was a little bitter for some reason, but the rest were excellent. It’s crazy how much a year of rest changes a beer.

        • Señor Jefe El Rosa

Very cool, I have a few aging of my own.

    • I really enjoyed this World Series. Probably napped for a few innings here and there, but the playoffs in general were the most baseball I’ve watched the entire year. Game 7 was a classic.

    • King Shit of Fuck Mountain

That Game 7 was fucking amazing.

  • nbm02ss

Expecting my new amp head today, and hopefully some more car parts.

    • Señor Jefe El Rosa

Amp head?! What are you getting?

      • nbm02ss

Just a little 6505 MH. It’s my first tube amp. Retiring the ole Peavy Bandit.

        • Señor Jefe El Rosa

          Oooh, niiice!

        • Dave Vincent’s Perm

          Does “retiring” include “selling?”

  • Fuck the Raiders, bruh. Go Chiefs!

    • Imma upvote this because it is lonely down here at the bottom.

  • “Go Raiders”? World Series is over boss. Nice try tho

  • Good: Cubs winning the World Series
Bad: Daylight saving to is coming which means less sunlight and colder weather, two of the shittiest things on earth.
Ugly: Even though the election will thankfully be over after Tuesday, there will still be shitty people around promoting their divisive agendas thwarting progress for rest of us.

    • Don’t forget, everybody: write in “Waynecro”. We can do this!!!

      • Seriously considering writing in Vermin Supreme. Hillary’s going to win NJ so no fucks given. I will vote seriously on House/Senate/local candidates because those are the folks that will impact me most. Also voting against the ballot measures because they are proposed by Chris Christie who is one of the worst human beings on the planet.

        • Joaquin Stick

Free Pony for every American! Hail Vermin!

          • I have a little girl now, it’s worth a shot!

        • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

I’m writing in Optimus Prime because my vote doesn’t matter in my state. Hillary is automatically going to win anyway.

    • Joaquin Stick

3/3. In agreement with all of these things.

  • Good: Picked up Titanfall 2 last weekend and have been playing it non-stop all week. So much freaking fun. Week went by really fast, got a lot of work done. My boss’s wife commissioned me to do some freelance design work for her company, so extrra $$$ coming in to make up for the money I had to spend on my pup’s surgery.

Bad: I’ve had to spend around half of the last two weekends with my girlfriend’s parents while they help us do some random home improvement stuff, there’s only so much of that I can take and her dad is coming over again this weekend to do some things.

    Ugly: This election. Fuck.

  • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

Good: I got paid yesterday, I’m seeing Flotsam And Jetsam in two weeks, the wrestling thing I’m going to the day after the F&J show

    Bad: Anything involving the election.

    Ugly: My love life

  • Good: Getting to meet Dubs today and hang out with him and more beer. Bingeing on the new Anaal Nathrakh and Ulcerate has been great. Got a date tomorrow and free tickets to a play that I’ve been assured is chock full of absolutely foul humor.

Bad: Being on hiatus from, well, beer. Friday night without it is going to be a little weird. And one of my freelance bosses is back from Kazakhstan (yeah, that’s where he chose to go on vacation) and got gout while he was there. Gout. So now he’s in a foul mood and is probably going to dump more work than I can handle on me. Flush.

Ugly: Dropping a deuce while listening to Vermin Womb. What this election is doing to people (specifically, turning them into assholes). And as always, the crowd on the bus to and from work.

    • more beer

      Your hiatus ends today.

      • It’s for health reasons, definitely not for fun reasons.

        • more beer

          Oh man that sucks.

          • Yeah, depression’s in one of its low(er) points again and my doc had some other concerns yesterday, so I’m taking her advice, at least temporarily.

          • more beer

            Yea you should do that.

          • Señor Jefe El Rosa

Damn dude, sorry to hear that

          • Thanks. Shit happens, like it or not.

          • But being able to hang out with you and Dubs this afternoon totally makes up for it!

        • You’re going to hear thousands of people (that’s including advertisers — okay mostly advertisers) tell you that booze is required in order to have fun.
Let one person (me!) tell you the opposite 🙂

          • Waynecro

Truth, brother. Though I should mention that I haven’t had fun for years. But that’s not a symptom of sobriety.

          • Señor Jefe El Rosa

I drink beer and fully support the notion that alcohol is not necessary for fun.

          • …and theres option C: Boss the “Life of the Party” Ross, who is always fun!

          • Señor Jefe El Rosa

I may be fun, but definitely not “life of the party” material. Hahaha

          • I doubt that sir. You are the life of the party in the bowl so I bet you are IRL too

          • Señor Jefe El Rosa

            You are far too humbling!

Besides family occasions, I really can’t remember the last party I’ve been to. I’ve just never been into it, really.

    • CyberneticOrganism

      Anaal Nathrakh >>>>>>>>>>

      • Seriously great stuff. Did you hear the Powerslave cover they did too?

        • CyberneticOrganism

Yeah, meh. I read they had problems with that one due to a computer dying just before their deadline so they couldn’t mix it properly. Those two bonus tracks are nothing special. The album proper is more than enough brvtality on its own.

          • I didn’t like the other bonus track, and maybe I should give the Powerslave one another listen, but it sounded great to me. All good. Different strokes for different folks.

          • CyberneticOrganism

Stay tuned for an album swap featuring AN

          • Awesomesauce. Will do.

  • Hi guys! And gals!

  • RJA

I’m off on a vacation myself, to Nashville – anyone have good tips on brewery/brewpubs?

    • I have heard there is not a bad place to go! Have fun dude.

      • RJA

There usually isn’t – I can only recall being disappointed with a brewery/ brewpub a handful of times in my life

  • I am kinda disappointed y’all haven’t broken the comments section yet. Better get to it GOD DAMNIT!

Bad: Work for the rest of the semester is ramping up. Hypothesis Paper, oral presentation, more tests, etc.
Good:Just enjoying life. New DSO is awesome.

  • Freedom Jew
  • Taylor

Good: I stocked up on baking supplies. I will soon have an army of gnome and Sasquatch cookies large enough to invade Scotland. My dog just turned ten, so she’s pretty stoked. Happy dog = happy owner.
Bad/Good: I picked up another day at work. Good for more money, bad for sanity and school.
Ugly: the anniversary of my brother’s death was this Halloween. I did not attend a family and close friend gathering, and in feel horrible guilt despite knowing I still wouldn’t change my decision.

  • Elegant Gazing Globe

Good. I don’t have the time anyway. I’m busy stacking that paper this week.

Good: The new DsO vinyl arrived already. It’s a gooooooooooooood.
Bad: not the new DsO ep
    Ugly: iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • tigeraid

The Good: 3-day weekend. And the new Khemmis. Still.

The Bad: You have a few days left, America. Don’t fuck this up. DON’T.

The Ugly: Our new pupper still needs severe training. Jumps on everything, eats anything, doesn’t listen when indoors, guards almost anything that’s near his mouth, and has now bitten me badly four times. The olelady has arranged training next week. Hopefully it helps, because he’s making my “nice relaxing new life out in the country” a living hell.

I wish I could take the day off, Joe. But the reality is that making sarcastic comments on the internet takes dedication and hard work.

  • Eliza

The thing I’m most looking forward to this weekend is sleeping. I haven’t slept well in a while.

    • Óðinn

I haven’t slept enough this week. I am looking forward to sleep as well.

      • Eliza

I had insomnia last night. I only slept for like three hours, but I did hear some great Johnny Cash songs on the radio.

        • Óðinn

I’m sorry to hear that, Eliza. Insomnia sucks.

          • Eliza

It’s stressful to not be able to sleep knowing that you have to be on your feet early in the morning.

        • Señor Jefe El Rosa

Sorry about the insomnia, but I am excited for JOHNNY CASH!

          • Eliza

Johnny Cash made the whole thing worthwhile.

    • Abradolf Lincler

cant wait to sleep in sunday

      • Eliza

Can’t wait to sleep all weekend.

    • Sleep tight, pupper.

  • So what is everyone’s plans this weekend?

Personally, tonight we are cooking chicken at the VFW. The public is welcome! Deer activity should pick up tomorrow. Gonna plant my but all day Saturday. Sounds likes Sunday we are going to have a “plow” day and work some ground with old tractors/plows. Been on some meds this week (no beer allowed) I am ready for a cold one!

    Bad: NOPE.

    Ugly: NOPE.

Good: got paid, good relationships on my current workplace (cycling store) and I mind to stick there for a while. It’s getting colder and the weather becomes mopish from time to time but I ride mah bike every day and feel to the full.

    Getcha pull!

    Have a nice weekend, ToH!

  • Can’t decide if I should get a PRS guitar for $500 or an Epiphone LP Silverburst for $470?

    • CyberneticOrganism

      PRS

    • Señor Jefe El Rosa

      silverburst>>>>>>>

    • Jack Rabbit

Can’t speak for silverburst, but my PRS is awesome

    • Stick to Guitar Hero. It’s way easier, way more fun, and way cheaper. And both gets you the same amount of girls: zero!

    • Abradolf Lincler

none of the above. buy a nice jackson.

    • Pentagram Sam

PRS makes good stuff, their SE line is nice. Dude, if you’re getting an Epi LP, check out the Les Paul Tribute Plus. Dunno if it comes in silverburst but check the specs: The Tribute Plus comes with Gibson Classic 57 pups and a goddamn hardshell case. I THINK they run around 650 new, but the pups alone are worth the price difference much less a decent case.

    • tertius_decimus

      PRS, hands down.

  • Kevin Nash’s Jackknife

This is bad prog and not good prog. It makes Russian Roulette by Triumivrat look like the greatest prog album ever.
