Introducing a brand new feature to your favorite Friday afternoon tradition.

We listen to a lot of music ’round these parts. Sometimes it can be difficult to remember what you listened to yesterday, let alone Monday. That’s why we’re introducing this weekly playlist of all the good music we’ve covered over the course of the week. Get caught up on all the jams right here and ease into the weekend.

Take it easy, ya’ll. And if it’s easy… take it twice. The floor is yours. We’ll see you tomorrow.

  • Guacamole Jim

GOOD: I just for the first time today listened to Vektor.

BAD: I slept on that thing for far too long.

UGLY: My butt, after being slain by Vektor.

    • Óðinn

I hope your butt feels better soon, Guac.

    • sweetooth0

I had the exact same Vektor experience a while ago.

      • Óðinn

Yup. Vektor Butt. It’s a real problem in the Metal community. I’m just glad more people feel free to speak about it openly these days, instead of suffering in silence.

        • Hans Copronym

Yeah, especially since it’s not like people don’t notice anyway when you suddenly refuse to sit down anywhere. And those silly donut cushions just don’t cut it when you’ve got the VB.

        This gets me all a-tingly.

          Squidtwerk

      • Dumpster Lung

The little bass part and then killer riff in DNA is a great moment and one of my favorites on the album.

    • Sid Vicious Promos

Vektor slays all butts, even mine.

This is rad! Next we need a “best of Toilet comments” roundup! Hahaha

“Put that shit on a bumper sticker and I’ll buy the hell out of it.”

    – Joe TnK 2017

    • Sid Vicious Promos

I have so many good ones though!

    • Óðinn

What?! If I’d known this was happening, I would have stepped up my game.

    • JWG79

This one was so great I thought it should go on a t-shirt.*

      * Which I may yet make for myself. Not for re-sale, though.

      • I don’t know what I said to prompt that response.

        • JWG79

It was during the Worst Song contest, re: one that hadn’t made the initial cut. I chose not to actually view your video, but HH’s description struck a chord anyway.

    • Shit Talkers Ov The Week?

      • Señor Jefe El Rossover

        PERFECT

  • tigeraid

    Not a terrible idea.

GOOD: Picking up my dream car tomorrow!

BAD: It’s in rough shape, but dammit, I look forward to all the work anyway.

UGLY: I’ll be hauling it in a fucking snowstorm, apparently. 🙁

    • 88 Accord EFI?

      • Óðinn
        • Hans Copronym

Noice! Never seen one with headlights like that, is that an American thing?

          • Óðinn

Looking at the photo, I think it’s been customized.

I love Swedish and English cars. I’m a bit of a weirdo. Volvos, SAABs, old Jaguars and Land Rovers, etc.

            http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4OjhZ_4U81A/Tj2XIyT2UtI/AAAAAAAAIq0/GWxaLkkT2HM/s1600/Jaguar+Mark+2+%25282%2529.jpg

          • Hans Copronym

            Very British!

I do like muscle cars, but I’m not American, maybe that helps.
Many would say having a small penis helps too, but I wouldn’t know anything about that, ahahaha. Ha.

          • Sid Vicious Promos

I’ve always wanted either a Dodge Challenger in lime green with the black stripe or a Jaguar, very specifically the XJ40.

          • JWG79

From what I noticed the North American ones switched to the rectangular headlight in the early 80’s (the family ’83 wagon had them but a neighbour’s ’77 didn’t). Shortly after that it became possible to get either, from what I recall, though most were sold with the rectangular ones so that’s mostly what you saw on the road.

After the Volvo “car” sub-brand got sold to Ford in 1999 they all standardized to rectangular though.

And also began coasting on the reputation of the prior manufacturing standards vis-a-vis their tank-like body while actually building nothing of the sort.

        • Count_Breznak

Those are awesome festival shuttles. Comfortably seats 5+luggage(tent, beer) and have no problem getting out after even if it rains the whole time. Devours fuel like a tank, tho, and weights about as much. (There’s a reason for them being dubbed “Schwedenpanzer”)

          • Hans Copronym

But it also refers to their legendary near-indestructability.

          • JWG79

If new volvos were made like they used to be I’d totally be saving now towards owning one… later… maybe by retirement.

Though I’d have to pay someone to drive me, too, so could take even longer to save up…

          • Count_Breznak

Still, wild boar > Volvo (well, more like “=”, both got totalled). Friend found out the hard way and wasn’t even allowed to keep the meat, bummer.

          • Hans Copronym

That sucks, but now I can’t help imagining your friend scraping bits of boar out of the grill and then having to turn those in.

          • JWG79

Would the pieces be called “Boar Grills”?

            (sorry)

          • Count_Breznak

He should have skinned and gutted the boar, wearing the skin as a cloak. Await the police hunched over gnawing on some raw boar leg meat. Alas, he didn’t have the presence of mind.

          • Guppusmaximus
          • Óðinn

One of those was parked next to me at the university yesterday. From what I understand, they are very fast. I don’t like the looks of them personally, but I’m not really into modern-looking angular cars in general. Just my personal taste. Probably fun to drive though.

          • Guppusmaximus

Yea, they are pretty much a Super-car killer. Not that I would ever have 110k for one never mind the extra 64k for the nismo model in that pic, however, even the entry level GTR has 565HP that’s why it’s called a Super-car killer. AND, they pretty much drive themselves which a lot of enthusiasts dislike. It’s my dream car(keyword dream) but I can understand why you and some people don’t like the style. It is engineering first for the most part which creates some hard lines. I didn’t like the rear when they first came out with the successor to the Skyline. It looked way too big {Sir Mix-a-lot jokes will be heavily frowned upon}… Well, that’s all I have to say about that *smirk*

        • tigeraid

yessssssss Volvo wagons rule. Diesel notsomuch tho. Needs a v8 swap. Or at least a big turbo.

      • JWG79

        Mazda GLC (323), obviously.

      • tigeraid

        You son of a bitch.

All will be revealed in time.

        • Sight Vnseen

Holden or Ford? Old or new?

          • tigeraid

er…. Well, our version of Holden, I guess. Very old. Will post pics, at some point.

      • tigeraid

oops. Guess I better just post it here.

Further to my earlier revelation, thar she blows:

        https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e08df2097cf5c2563ffed0a8a23248b9dd3ae36ce816c3b2eddd50f7dd4716fa.jpg

Got some work to do, obviously. But it’s all there and all the little trim pieces and doodads and interior stuff is there. Only major surgery will be quarter panels and trunk floor. ’72 Monte Carlo was my first car, it was a pile of shit but I loved it. So, pretty stoked to get another one, and build it right this time.

  • Hans Copronym

Good: was going to catch up on some music and some Toilet reading over the weekend, so this new feature is perfect.

Bad: should do my taxes some time soon.

Ugly: people writing “nice to e-meet you” in an email. Just… why.

    • Taxes in general <<>>

      • Sid Vicious Promos

I have to do my taxes as well. I hope I get a good refund.

        • What state do you live in? Just curious, since the income tax rates can be so different. Moving from MA to CO was quite the reminder of that.

          • Sid Vicious Promos

NY. Apparently since I made under 15,000 dollars I get a bonus on my refund

          • There’s a silver lining, then! Should reacquaint myself with the regulations about that … might have something to do with the (stupidly low) poverty line, which last I checked was somewhere in the vicinity of $14,600 for one person.

          • dude the poverty line in RI was 10,300 (and I was 300 above it so had to get penalized for not having health insurance so they took 700 dollars from me, which makes no sense at all)

          • Gotta love back-assward systems like that.

  • sweetooth0

GOOD: My shirt design got unleashed today. Stoked on the positive response! Excited to see it in person melted into the shirt fabric! Seeing the new King Kong movie this weekend, and I’m ready to go ape! Got some sick giant sized embroidered Goathammer patches in the mail yesterday!

BAD and UGLY: both me and the GF have been sick most of the week, have had to play catch up the last couple days. Had to take her to the doctor to get her prescription strength medicine just so she could stop puking. Not fun.

    • Joaquin Stick

John C Reilly looks amazing in that movie. Main reason for me wanting to see it.

      • saprophial

        That’s a big ol’ gorbilla

    • Hans Copronym

Is “catch up” a game where you catch each other’s vomit?

Seriously though, hope you’re feeling better.

      • sweetooth0

catch up at work, but I think I like your interpretation better, ha ha ha!

    • Vault Dweller

Fuck that fucking flu virus that made the rounds. Hit us here in Maine too, that shit fucking sucked. All my coworkers had it, as did my roomie… so of course I had an encounter with it myself.

Sorry you caught that bullshit, the puking was the worst part.

  • Joaquin Stick

Good: Fen’s newest is out today. https://fenuk.bandcamp.com

Good: Darkest Hour’s newest is out today. https://darkesthoursl.bandcamp.com/releases

Good (but not as good as I hoped): Pillorian’s first is out today. Buy Fen instead. https://pillorian.bandcamp.com/album/obsidian-arc

  • Sid Vicious Promos

Good: I got paid, seeing Todd Rundgren in May

Bad: I’m going to miss Yngwie Malmsteen because of that

Ugly: my ability to eat an entire box of Nerds in one sitting is gone.

    • Hans Copronym

Hmm… either your love life has picked up or you’re not bothering to list it anymore. Hoping for the former.

      • Sid Vicious Promos

I’m not listing it anymore. There’s no point because looking is a bad idea. I need to wait for it to happen

  • Sadistikexekution

Just flushed away part 1 of an excellent Chinese meal I had earlier this evening.
Thinking about going for a second round.

More Darkthrone album art that could do with that pink tint.

    • Guacamole Jim

      Mmmm Confessor.

    • Botch!!!!!!!!!

      • Óðinn

        Ditto.

  • Seeing Dischordia tonight in beautiful STL! Hoping they cover that one Jethro Tull song.

    • Guacamole Jim

Stocky’ll bust out his Fluteus Maximus

    • Sid Vicious Promos

      Which one?

  • Taylor

Good: went out for a nice hike yesterday. It was a cool forest to go explore. Thanks to Monday’s podcast, I have broken out my Alan Jackson cds.

Bad: the forest’s natural springs combined with winter melt meant that I got to walk through about 8 miles of boggy trail. RIP socks.

Ugly: this was supposed to be an overnight camping trip, but snowfall and family drama meant that I got to drive 4 hours back to my house at 1 AM. Also, my shoes after walking through 8 miles of boggy trail.

Suspenseful: I may or may not have gotten a full time job. I’m really hoping that I got it and can start saving up for after college, but I haven’t heard back yet.

  • Howard Dean
    • GL

      Oh my wow

  • JWG79

Good: That excellent new TovH shirt for which, like all the rest before it, I will immediately be tagged a degenerate by wearing in public. YOLO (unless voodoo is involved).

Bad: Actually not much. I think I vented most of the worst last week.

Ugly: New TovH shirt. But also beautiful. If it were a puppy it would be called Ugly-Cute, and women everywhere would line up to pet it.

The puppy, that is, not the shirt…

    Also, Metal:

  • Depechemodeisgangsta

This week got my tickets for Depeche Mode, maybe tomorrow go see a cover band of DM, and Sunday will probably go see movie Logan.
Also just found out that Deicide is coming on May to Miami, hopefully this time, they won’t be a group of racist dudes, beating the shit out of everyone that walks by.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK4ZLvNQlKk

    • Depeche Mode live would slay!! i’ve never seen them before, have you? if so, how was it?

      • Depechemodeisgangsta

Yes i was finally able to watch them on their past tour, “Delta Machine Tour” back in 2013, and it was awesome, IDK if you have seen their last DVD live in Berlin, it was basically the same show, same set list, big production, and the band sounded great live, they played a great mix of old and newer songs, the only problem down here in South Florida, that most of the people that go, just go to take their instagram pictures and do the whole FB thing, which is fine, if that’s why you decided to go, so the crowd for that show, wasn’t that much into it, but i thing that is more on the “Fanbase” than the band, they killed it live, if you have time try to check the “DM live in Berlin” that crowd was great the whole show.

  • Jay Riemenschneider

GOOD: The busiest part of the year is over for my job. Now to cruise for a few months. “The Black Monday Murders, Vol. 1” is excellent. Rereading it again soon.

BAD: Said job is uncertain. The place we rent from can make a decision not to renew the lease soon, which leaves me jobless.

UGLY: My musical taste. Why do I gravitate to such strange, yet artistically satisfying things?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnovJpnhygI

  • GL

Good: The week is finally over.
The Bad: It took too long to get over. The wife is working a bunch of hours… which is bummer
The Ugly: Stupid government program managers. They suck, bad.

    Have a great weekend yall!

    GL

  • Waynecro

Good: I’m seeing Rivers of Nihil, Tombs, Ringworm, and Darkest Hour tomorrow night.
    Bad and Ugly: Everything else.

    • Rivers of Nihil puts on a pretty great show. Have fun! They’re super nice guys too, hit them up at the merch table if you can.

  • saprophial

Good: Bell Witch is coming to town, found a lot of new music this week, starting on learning developer AWS, found out my squat form is pretty good and I don’t have stripper butt.

Bad: Caffeine dependency threatens to press my eyeballs out of my face lately if it doesn’t get fed.

Ugly: I’m drawn and quartered at work and just got hematology data samples last night for which I need to write and reasonably test a reporting program by the middle of next week. Hourly scrub so OT problems.

  • Late to the party -here goes:

Good: Got the house to myself for almost two weeks. Although I certainly miss the family, I’m enjoying the peace, quiet and freedom to roam as I please.
    Also Good: Power Violence
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBZ2Zvi05i8
Off The Charts Good: The new Your Old Droog
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7fpqaX3K9M

It’s all good in the hood for me!

    • fuck yeah if this is the DOC from washington DC they’re fucking awesome, played at my house a few times. rad dudes

      • That’s awesome, I’ll bet they’re great live.

  • Wait, when did Joe change into red pants?

    • GL

That is a Reposted Joe! Oh my!

      • Thank you for reading that for me. My eyes don’t work none good.

        • GL

FIRST YOUR ARMS THEN YOUR EYES.

          YOU ARE….

          (WAIT FOR IT)…

          DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED

  • Sid Vicious Promos

Bought Heroes Of Might And Magic 2, 3 and 4 as they’re on sale on GOG. Have any of you tried those games? Apparently they’re some of the best games of that kind.

    • Count_Breznak

2 is…well, old, in every way. 3 is an all time strategy classic and you can still actually find streams of that on twitch (also lots of mods arround). 4 is also decent, but they decided to let the hero be a field unit this time arround, causeing more harm then good. For example snipe the hero = this army can’t take objectives, even if it wins the fight.

  • GOOD: Got an informal job offer last week. Two additional interviews later, and the formal offer comes in and is way more generous than I expected. Victory!

BAD: I can’t wear metal shirts to work anymore. Big deal. That’s what free time is for.

    UGLY: Me in dress clothes.

    • Óðinn

      Congrats!

      • Thanks man! May have immediately impulse bought a couple albums after the offer came in. No regrets.

        • GL

          In Denver, yes?

          • Yessir, right downtown.

          • GL

Sweet. The wife and I were there for a day or two on our Honey. Pretty neat place. Liked the mountains better though!

I liked the 2.5 beer buzz, too. Cheap!

          • Hahaha! That only lasts for a week or so (the buzz). But the profusion of amazing beer remains. The mountains are the best, no doubt about it. In a perfect world I’d live in Golden, but even in Denver the mountains are so close that it hardly matters.

          • GL

It was a neat place for sure. We were in Estes for 5 or 6 days… fuck it was awesome.

          • Oh dude I love Estes. You know a place is special when it’s pretty even by Colorado standards.

          • GL

It was dreamy (prob mostly because of the honeymoon) for sure. Fishing, doing nothing, trying to catch my breath. I would go back in a minute. Maybe once daughter (and all the future ones) are old enough to stay with grandparents ha!

          • There ya go! The mountains won’t be going anywhere. Even if Cheeto Mussolini starts a nuclear war they’ll stick around.

  • tigeraid
